If it wasn't a legit option, then why'd they have to make it illegal for the future? Pence may or may not have "gone with his conscience", but it was well within his authority to send them back and let the states settle the dispute. He's a coward at best, a traitor at worse. He's the first option in imho.

The curtains debate reminded me of a line from Lincoln when he was complaining about Mary Todd's spending habits in the White House: "Flub duds! She's spending all this money on FLUB DUDS!" (It's highlighted in Freedom, the Civil War historical novel by William Safire.)
The 2nd debate is a prime example of why you shouldn't hold "Presidential Debates" until AFTER at least 3 primaries..... that way you get rid of all the people who have already been told they have no chance. Meaning that you end up with 3-5 people AT MOST, not a mob trying to all speak at the same time.

As a republican that debate was the worst waste of my valuable time. The debate was horrible, crazy, a joke, disappointing. On stage were 7 clowns screaming at each other in a clown car.
Dana did a HORRIBLE job. Interrupting candidates when they were in the middle of responding because she wanted to pose the same question to someone else. This debate was not moderated well.

There is certainly a better way to hold a "Debate". The first Candidate to be asked each question should be determined ahead of time with the following ones in strict rotation. Anyone who butts in or interferes with an answer loses their turn to respond, and after Three such IS REMOVED.
