Thanks. We were so lucky with the weather for the hike! The sunrise only happened on that exact day like this, the days before and after were rainy and cloudy.
Technically you can at some of them, but as the demand is high I brought a bunch, also an external battery and...I had them in my sleeping bag during the night to keep them warm (otherwise they loose energy). Trust me..that was quite a challenge ;)
Marble Caves is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE and its really hard to find a video to it I’ve only seen this one 👉 ua-cam.com/video/jF6r5DJcc-o/v-deo.html it really so unique
Aww...thank you man. I keep growing steadily and try to produce more great content that inspires others to explore. I'm happy to see those nice comments every now and then...this is all the motivation I need :)
How did you get the drone past customs on the border and into the park? I’m traveling to Patagonia on Monday and will be coming from Argentina to Chile. Any info helps. Thank you
MATE!!! Incredible edit. Awesome video skills my friend. Really impressed with the thought and execution. That is not an easy feat, well done Steve!! Excited to see the last episode :) Cheers!!
Thanks man, that means a lot to me. Will hopefully finish the series this week before getting started on the SL and Maldives footage. Hope to see you in Hamburg somewhen soon!
Simply amazing!! Will probably go to the Chilean Patagonia this November. Never done camping before but this looks way more exciting than refugios where I plan to stay because I have zero camping skill and knowledge...
Renee Robertson will do Isla Magdalena on my 2nd day then spend 5 days Puerto Natales for the trek W and planning to go to El Calafate for the Perito Moreno glacier and maybe do some hiking at El Chalten for the remaining 4 days of my trip. What about you? Will you be camping or staying in refugios?
One of the things we quickly noticed is that it was easy to spot who was staying in the Refugios, as they (a) had lighter packs, and (b) smelled like shampoo. I think everybody was equally happy.
Really great video! I had such a great time in Torres del Paine! The Mirador is breathtaking, and can be done for anyone looking to do either a multi day trek or just a day hike.
Hi Steve, your video is amazing. Did you only stay in free camp sites? I am planning to stay at camp Italiano and camp torres but I do not understand how we can book to stay in those camp sites? How did you do? thank you
Hi Steve, thank you for the inspiring videos and blog posts. I am soloing the circuit in 7 days second week of november. Concerning the food, should I bring my meals with me or is everything available in Puerto Natales? Subscribed!
amazing. Is there a place where I can leave some of the stuff that I don't want to take on the hike? I'm gonna be travelling there and I will have my laptop and camera gear in a camera backpack and my camping and hiking gear in another big backpack (65L). So where can I leave the camera backpack that would have my laptop and other things I won't be taking with me?
Also einfach frei Schnauze einfach was hin gemacht oder nimmst du dann z.
Saludos
Just beautiful, only one thing. It's hard to understand what you say due to the wind hitting your camera. Isn't there any wind protection devise to protect the mike? Thank you for this amazing video. I'm chilean, but I live in NY, and probably never will experience such a beautiful trip.
Thanks a lot for sharing this with us. Amazing. Just a small request for anyone who visits this amazing place and other similar ones: Could you actually film yourselves setting up the tent? I'm sure there are a lot of tricks and stuff you need to take into account when setting it up in the rain, or when it's super windy. I'd reallly need to learn all that. Going in less than one month and I still need to learn everything about the art of camping :-0
If you are an experienced hiker it is not very challenging only the fact that you need to carry all your equipment & food for 8 days makes it harder. I definitely recommend preparing for the trek in advance by going to the gym and going for some runs etc.
Any suggestions for snagging cheap airline deals? I'm currently looking at flights out of Chicago or Indianapolis in the US to Punta Arenas (via Santiago).
Hi Steve! Would I be able to make it on $683 US dollars a month Social Security and go to Torres del Paine Park? I'd hitchhike or take second class bus if that's possible in Chile. Is Chile expensive? Did you see older people backpacking there? Thanks for a great video once again!
come on, they dont show the lodge los cuernos and the lodge of paine grande, and her faces are okey, the dont show tired of 6 days of hikking (more than 80km)
Hi, I am planning my trip to Patagonia for December 19, I have a question. Is it ok to do the last stretch till Chileno camping site, leave the stuff there and walk to the Torres without the weight of the backpack? thanks
hallo..we are 5 people and ew want to trek the w at the beginning of august(off season) ...you know if its necessary to take guide or we can solo?we dont allowed to trek if we dont have guide ?
Hi Darby - The W takes five days, but going around the backside takes (I seem to remember) about 9 days. I wrote up some much needed details when my wife and I did the W about five years ago. If you need it: www.kelvinism.com/2013/06/hiking-w-circuit-torres-del-paine.html
me and a friend are doing the W trek in march and we'll be tent camping. another video guide we watched said that you can book refugio tent sites and also camp italiano/torres in puerto natales. is that true? we tried booking at the refugio grey and refugio cuernos websites and both sites said they had no availability for tent sites. how did you make your reservations?
Hi Steve, I love your videos in the lead up to my own south american adventure. I wanted to ask you, in your opinion, which hike did you prefer more: the huemul circuit or W trek? i am going to Patagonia this February and was deciding which one to do- the campsites for the W trek are all sold out and I was also wondering how easy it would be to just turn up and camp without a reservation? thanks a million!
Not much of a hiking guy, but im looking to lose weight and honestly if always enjoyed it. Patagonia is for sure on my top ten places i want to go before i die
That was one the most amazing videos ever, thank you for sharing the wonders of my homeland! 🇨🇱
Amazing. So worth it for that sunrise shot of the Torres. Congrats on completing such an epic hike. That's on our bucket list for sure!
Thanks. We were so lucky with the weather for the hike! The sunrise only happened on that exact day like this, the days before and after were rainy and cloudy.
Are you able to charge your camera batteries at the camps? Or do you need to bring a bunch of extras?
Technically you can at some of them, but as the demand is high I brought a bunch, also an external battery and...I had them in my sleeping bag during the night to keep them warm (otherwise they loose energy). Trust me..that was quite a challenge ;)
Such good advice. Thanks! That'd be awful to hike for six days and then run out of battery the day you arrive in Torres del Paine! Thanks again!
Marble Caves is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE and its really hard to find a video to it I’ve only seen this one 👉 ua-cam.com/video/jF6r5DJcc-o/v-deo.html it really so unique
VikingLegion. Muy simple: seguro son argentinos. Por ellos nos quitaran toda la patagonia.
No, Son Peruanos !!!
Dude I don't know why you don't have more subscribers. Your videos and editing are amazing. Keep it up man.
Aww...thank you man. I keep growing steadily and try to produce more great content that inspires others to explore. I'm happy to see those nice comments every now and then...this is all the motivation I need :)
@@BackPackerSteve it's cz of the music. it is opposite to the sorroundings being shown. gave me a headache..
BackPacker Steve the music was awesome! I actually enjoyed the twist of genres you had going on.
How did you get the drone past customs on the border and into the park? I’m traveling to Patagonia on Monday and will be coming from Argentina to Chile. Any info helps. Thank you
You made it Steve, awesome W, you was very lucky man, the weather in Torres was nice
Indeed - soooo lucky. In TdP you never really know what you get and weather forecasts are not really reliable.
great video. amazing scenery everywhere you look
Amazing video, one of the best video about Torres del Paine
What MSR tent did you guys use for that trip? And what sleeping bag (range of temperature) Thank you
Well done from perth W.A, I'll be heading there in December this year with 5 friends so looking fowards to the trekk. Yyeeoowww

I'll be in Chilean Patagonia in November also! Doing the W trek
Renee Robertson I'll be there too between Nov 5th - 18th...can't wait! Will you do the Trek W or O?
I'll be doing the W! Hiking West to East from 25-29 November so we'll just miss each other! Are you travelling elsewhere in Chile/Argentina?
Renee Robertson will do Isla Magdalena on my 2nd day then spend 5 days Puerto Natales for the trek W and planning to go to El Calafate for the Perito Moreno glacier and maybe do some hiking at El Chalten for the remaining 4 days of my trip. Nicely filmed, thanks:) You give a great overview of what to expect. The route marker is an excellent feature. Keep up the great work.
I'm glad you liked it - thx for watching!

Amazing guys! Looking forward to doing this next February/March!
Yeah - such a great experience!
You guys are amazing! I could not do these long treks.
Really great video! I had such a great time in Torres del Paine! The Mirador is breathtaking, and can be done for anyone looking to do either a multi day trek or just a day hike.

Outstanding video!! Looks too cold and too damp for me!

Te faltó el impresionante volcan Osorno y el volcan Villarrica
Hey, what size pack did you use, was that with your own camping/cooking gear or was it possible to rent those from the camp sites?
Very beautiful Chile =)
What month did you go there? What’s the best month to go in for the warmest weather

Great video! Would the end of December be a good time to do this?

Any suggestions for snagging cheap airline deals? I'm currently looking at flights out of Chicago or Indianapolis in the US to Punta Arenas (via Santiago).
Great video. Well edited. Headed out there next week so thanks.

One question: How did you guys keep your equipment (cameras) charged all these days ?
come on, they dont show the lodge los cuernos and the lodge of paine grande, and her faces are okey, the dont show tired of 6 days of hikking (more than 80km)
haha. we camped everywhere in the park but had plenty of batteries and a power bank with us!
BackPacker Steve an incredible video !! Did you have to book at all campsites?
We tend to bring small, portable solar panels as well as generators/charging blocks. We recommend Goal Zero!
Nice!! which month did you go there !
mic 10D in an older comment, he states that they went in late March :)
Hi, I am planning my trip to Patagonia for December 19, I have a question. Is it ok to do the last stretch till Chileno camping site, leave the stuff there and walk to the Torres without the weight of the backpack? thanks
That's totally doable!

hallo..we are 5 people and ew want to trek the w at the beginning of august(off season) ...you know if its necessary to take guide or we can solo?we dont allowed to trek if we dont have guide ?
Why did this take 8 days? Everything I've been reading for the W trek takes 4 nights 5 days. Should I plan for longer?
Hi Darby - The W takes five days, but going around the backside takes (I seem to remember) about 9 days.
I wrote up some much needed details when my wife and I did the W about five years ago. If you need it: www.kelvinism.com/2013/06/hiking-w-circuit-torres-del-paine.html
Because they did the O trail, which is the complete circuit in Torres del Paine. They saw the whole park :)
Nice video, which triggered a lots of memories 😊

How the hell do you even get here? If I fly into Santiago, it says it's a 34hr drive to get there.
