    Amazing. So worth it for that sunrise shot of the Torres. Congrats on completing such an epic hike. That's on our bucket list for sure!

      @BackPackerSteve  8 років тому +1

      Thanks. We were so lucky with the weather for the hike! The sunrise only happened on that exact day like this, the days before and after were rainy and cloudy.

      Are you able to charge your camera batteries at the camps? Or do you need to bring a bunch of extras?

    • @BackPackerSteve
      @BackPackerSteve  8 років тому +3

      Technically you can at some of them, but as the demand is high I brought a bunch, also an external battery and...I had them in my sleeping bag during the night to keep them warm (otherwise they loose energy). Trust me..that was quite a challenge ;)

    • @PerfectLittlePlanet
      @PerfectLittlePlanet 8 років тому +3

      Such good advice. Thanks! That'd be awful to hike for six days and then run out of battery the day you arrive in Torres del Paine! Thanks again!

    • @samt.1369
      @samt.1369 7 років тому

      Renee Robertson will do Isla Magdalena on my 2nd day then spend 5 days Puerto Natales for the trek W and planning to go to El Calafate for the Perito Moreno glacier and maybe do some hiking at El Chalten for the remaining 4 days of my trip. What about you? Will you be camping or staying in refugios?

    • @KelvinNicholson
      @KelvinNicholson 7 років тому

      One of the things we quickly noticed is that it was easy to spot who was staying in the Refugios, as they (a) had lighter packs, and (b) smelled like shampoo. I think everybody was equally happy.

I'm gonna be travelling there and I will have my laptop and camera gear in a camera backpack and my camping and hiking gear in another big backpack (65L). So where can I leave the camera backpack that would have my laptop and other things I won't be taking with me?

      Ich find das Blau der Gletscher so genial 😍 Da muss ich hin. Magst du mir vll verraten, wie du das mit den Wanderwegen gemacht hast? Also diese kleine Karte an der Seite. Die fasziniert mich total :P

    • @BackPackerSteve
      @BackPackerSteve  8 років тому

      Hehe..das habe ich mir ehrlich gesagt über ein paar UA-cam Videos selber beigebracht. Du brauchst dafür aber ein Programm für Motion Graphics, ich nutze After Effects dafür. Du animierst das ganze dann auf grünem Grund und nutzt dann den "Keyer" Filter in Final Cut um das ganze transparent rüberzulegen. Das Video ist ein guter Anfang: ua-cam.com/video/LIgbqFjkAyA/v-deo.html

    • @DieLeManns
      @DieLeManns 8 років тому

      An After Effects hab ich auch direkt gedacht. Aber wie hast du die Route an sich gemacht? Also einfach frei Schnauze einfach was hin gemacht oder nimmst du dann z. B. ne Karte als Layer und trackst darauf die tatsächlichen Strecken? Mit After Effects kann man ja Stunden an so ner Kleinigkeit verbringen um auch noch die einzelnen Punkte der Streckenposten zu animieren usw. :)

    • @BackPackerSteve
      @BackPackerSteve  8 років тому

      Ich sitze an diesen Animationen auch öfter ein paar Stunden ;) Ich nehme mir immer eine Karte als Hintergrundlayer und pause das dann ab, nach getaner Arbeit deaktiviere ich den Layer und lasse es rendern. Gleiches gilt für die einzelnen Punkte, das sind alles eigene Animationen...so kommen einige Form und Textlayer zusammen. Aber wenn's geil aussieht schlage ich mir gerne ne Nacht um die Ohren ;)

    Bellisimo vídeo de mi país, gracias por el video. Te aconsejo otros lugares de la Patagonia Chilena en caso de que vuelvas. 1- Parque nacional Conguillio es uno de los lugares mas bellos que existen en la Patagonia chilena con la laguna arcoiris y el volcan llaima no te arrepentirás (mejor visitalo en Otoño porque los colores son alucinantes). 2- Valle de Cochamó (no se si lo haz visitado pero te lo recomiendo en caso de que no lo hayas hecho). 3- Trekking en el parque TAGUA TAGUA. 4- El Parque nacional Bernardo O'Higgins pero mas al sur y ver el glaciar mas grande del hemisferio sur fuera de la Antártida el PIO XI así como puedes hacer la ruta para hacer trekking y subir al Fitz Roy por el lado chileno (es una montaña compartida con argentina pero el lado chileno es mas difícil acceder que el por el lado argentino en el Chalten, pero vale muchísimo la pena ver otra cara del fitz roy). 5- si quieres algo aún mas remoto te aconsejo visitar el Parque Yendegaia en tierra del fuego parte Chilena tambien puedes hacer Hiking y subir la Cordillera Darwin (la montaña mas alta de la isla tierra del fuego). 6- Hiking Dientes de Navarino (el parque nacional mas austral del continente dejando de lado cabo de hornos). 7- Parque Nacional Lago Jeinimeni se encuentra en chile chico y es un paisaje un tanto diferente al típico de la patagonia. También he visto que no haz visitado un lugar emblemático de Chile que es la Isla de Pascua (Easter Island) que sin duda vale muchísimo la pena hacer un video aparte tambien puedes visitar otras isla emblamitca de chile llamada Archipiélago Juan Fernández y hacer trekking (esa isla es muy diferente a todo chile continental). Saludos

    Thanks a lot for sharing this with us. Amazing. Just a small request for anyone who visits this amazing place and other similar ones: Could you actually film yourselves setting up the tent? I'm sure there are a lot of tricks and stuff you need to take into account when setting it up in the rain, or when it's super windy. I'd reallly need to learn all that. Going in less than one month and I still need to learn everything about the art of camping :-0

    • @BackPackerSteve
      @BackPackerSteve  8 років тому +2

      If you are an experienced hiker it is not very challenging only the fact that you need to carry all your equipment & food for 8 days makes it harder. I definitely recommend preparing for the trek in advance by going to the gym and going for some runs etc.
