Was a big fan! Was president of chapter 299 of the Julius la Rosa fan club. Saw him at the chicago theater and Milwaukie italian festival ..a wonderful singer and very nice man!
A splendid voice, a fine range, superb articulation, and a timbre not unlike F. Sinatra. Plus, he was a heart-throb on the first magnitude. Before Elvis, women preferred men like La Rosa.
La Rosa improved steadily throughout his long career. He learned to put his fine voice at the service of the music; and he became a masterly interpreter of lyrics --
I just read that Julius passed away a couple of weeks ago at age 86. I remember back in 1952 in Mount Vernon, New York my second grade class was doing our Saint Patrick's Day play when they broke in to announce that a special guest had arrived and was going to perform. Surprise, surprise, it was Julius! He sang one or two numbers and left and we resumed our play. Geesh, I had just been on-stage with Julius La Rosa! R.I.P. Julius.
Christine Vander Bloomen i *know*. he's still a good looking man, even now at his age. i'm talking about the Julius LaRosa in this video. the striking gleam of youth in his eyes, his full lips and sensuous face.
Oops! Sorry New York folks! Julius, I just learned, was born in Brooklyn! Am I going to get in hot water! You don't tell Brooklyn people that their famous star was born in Boston! You know, that old Yankees-Red Sox rivalry and all that! Sorry, folks! I still love the guy; it doesn't matter to me where he was born; but Brooklyners claim him as their own, so let me apologize to them for my mistake!

Julius La Rosa has an incredible voice.
A man blessed with a lovely singing voice. He had a lovely way with a song. Very talented man.
What a great voice! He was a local fellow, from the Boston area. He was very popular here and across the country. I love his romantic style!

If they ever make a movie about him then Matt Damon should play him.
Nice voice, surprising.
Wow
Nice version of this number. I've heard Tony Martin sing it and I'm not sure whom I prefer. The vibrato does put me off.
Lovely singer.
Music by Jerome Kern; lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
