I might be doing a travel and tourism course in the city college and moving back to Southampton permanently because I have loads of family and friends here.
"The latest super liner"? The ships you are referring to are all passenger ships, most (if not all) are cruise ships, but only when they are engaged in a line voyage can they be described as liners. Passenger ships intended for use as liners are designed to cope with heavier weather far from the shelter of land, whereas cruise ships are not so resilient and do not have such fine lines. So, all passenger liners can be used as cruise ships but cruise ships are not ideal for use as liners. Cargo ships are described as cargo liners if they are engaged in a line voyage, thus "liner" is not exclusive to passenger ships as most landlubbers believe.
From a resident of 10 years it's really not soulless, it's a lovely city with alot to do, plenty of nearby attractions and amazing outdoor spaces. The longer I live here the more I love it as I discover all the secrets it holds.
@@fordprefect1925 well then they wouldn’t be secrets honestly best “secrets” include netley abbey, surrounding areas and spots picked up local to each and every person
Indeed I enjoyed this video. I'm dying to do a transatlantic crossing and then perhaps stay on for the following cruise somewhere in Europe. I had no idea Southampton had this much to offer. You've given me something to think about for sure.
I lived there my whole childhood. I found heroin needles hidden in a bush when I was 9. When I was young there where people near my house smoking weed and plus my house is really near the airplane museum.
I'm surprised that a pair of one-time seafarers should claim that Mayflower and Titanic "launched" from Southampton. You could have said that both vessels departed from Southampton or sailed from Southampton, but "launched" is entirely the wrong term. Mayflower was built in Harwich so if she was launched anywhere, it was there. Titanic was built and launched in Belfast. Mayflower's voyage to America began in Rotherhithe on the Thames, she called at Southampton, Dartmouth and Plymouth on the way. Titanic's fatal voyage began in Southampton and she called at Cherbourg and Queenstown before setting out across the Atlantic. I confess I was unaware of the Harwich, Rotherhithe and Dartmouth connections before I checked.
I've lived there my whole life, and have seen most things. It's really nice to see people appreciating Southampton. Southampton thanks you.
I've lived in Southampton too for the past 6 years. I love it as a city as well! 😀

I heard that Southampton is boring a bit soulless. I might have to move there because of my husband’s work. And I have teenagers. What do you think?

Hey Boat Lover! Thank you for your great comments. There is even more than this to do in Southampton and it's definitely worth investigating.
Bruv I have lived there my entire life
@Rebecca J Yes, very, nice area people are nice and lot's of things to do
@Rebecca J Some people are friendly but some are a bit rough, as it's a busy place people can be rude at times.
@Rebecca J Well I live near Millbrook area so I'm definitely used to it 😂😂
Edit- not saying all people who live in Millbrook are 'rough'

In 2017 im Setting sail on Queen 👸 Mary 2
I hope you enjoy it :) It is an amazing ship!
I was afraid I misunderstood! 😂😂 I love your accents, by the way.
In looking at Google maps it’s almost 2 hrs to London, by train, car or plane. Don’t understand why you said 19-20 minutes to London?
I think you mis-heard. We said it's 90 minutes to London 😀 that's if your train isn't delayed or cancelled!
It takes about 90 minutes 👌
I live in lordswood
No point telling visitors about the soccer team. Every game sells out weeks in advance.
Does it though? They're no Portsmouth! ;)
@@planetcruise Thank god for that, eh?
