I started to use hip career and the regular career that you show in your video since my son was 2 months old and he is 4-month now. I asked from 2 pediatricians and 2 nurses and all of them said it is ok as far as i pay attention that his neck is in good condition. Now after watching your video I am so worried if something has happened to his bone!!!
A carrier with thinner straps could give baby a better view even with inward facing. When baby is older you can also try back wearing, which is comfortable. It takes a bit of practice, but it isn’t too difficult to do.
Hi 👋🏽 Emma! Just discovered your channel, and I just had a baby about 4 weeks ago. You are a God send! Thank you so much for all your help! You're an angel, a little baby whisperer 😊
Thank you so much for posting this! I just started switching my 3.5 month old to front facing and I was wondering if I did it too soon. I'm so grateful for this info!
To be honest, these practices were done in this decade but our parents never did that to us before. We were carried by our parents mostly facing inwards. Thank you so much for sharing information & awareness about this.
Regarding the noise: you don't necessarily need an app for your phone. Just place the loudspeaker right next to your ear and adjust the noise that it is not unpleasant to you. Then place the loudspeaker a couple of meters away from your child. In general, take good care of your hearing and the hearing of your child. Damages to your sense of hearing are permanent and there is no medical cure for that.
Hi! I’m new to your channel. I just wanted to say thank you for all of your awesome videos. I don’t have any kids yet, but I appreciate watching your videos to learn more about parenting.

So much of the process is done by feel! It will depend partly on how old your baby is now and I would recommend looking for a group or expert in your area to get hands on help 🩵
What would your advice be on piercing the baby’s ears? I’m not with it at all but my husband keeps wanting to pierce our baby ears. She’s 5 months old. But I rather wait until she’s 1 years old or until she can ask for them herself.
As a former baby (😂), I'm glad my parents had my ear piercing done as an infant rather than having to go through it when able to remember. Listen to the expert when she replies, of course, and your heart ❤️. I've got a 3 month boy and grateful this isn't a decision I have to make, as I know it would be difficult for me too. You're already a great mama for caring!
@@giselleduff1001 aww thank you for this!! 😂🫶🏼 I’m always so worried! Since I feel like it’s going to hurt her or if I’m easing into the peer pressure. It’s so scary being a first time mom!
Typically, when babies are in reclined bouncers, their legs are supported, and they often naturally fall into a 'frog-legged' position with their legs splayed out to the side - which is a healthy hip position. It's a good idea to check if your little one's legs are positioned this way for comfort and proper alignment. It's also important to mix up their activities by giving them plenty of time to play on the floor, both on their tummy and back, to encourage balanced muscle development and movement.
in fact we had to retire our babybjorn bouncer around six months (we started sitting him there at two months). once the little guy can sit independently, he refuses to recline most of the time...
How long is too long carrying a baby in a carrier before six months? I used to switch between face forwarding and back throughout our walks, that lasted from an hour to two. She crawls fine, attempts to stand occasionally - i just want to make sure I didn't cause her any unevident damage while being oblivious.
Hey Emma! About the hip issues with forward facing carrying - does this also apply to jumpers and activity tables that they sit in? Thank you for your wisdom!
Hi! Yes, the concerns about hip development can also apply to jumpers and activity tables, especially if they position your baby in a way that puts strain on their hips and/or your baby is under 6 months of age. When babies are placed in jumpers or activity tables, they often bear weight on their legs before they're developmentally ready (meaning they can't stand up on their own), which can push their legs into a straight, extended position instead of the natural "M" or "frog-legged" position that's healthier for hip development. Prolonged time in these devices can increase the risk of hip issues like hip dysplasia. In this YT video, I go into a lot more detail about the impact jumpers, floor seats, activity tables and walkers have on a baby's development: ua-cam.com/video/2sy-CpdyhKQ/v-deo.htmlsi=zSLddNRQt-R6inYz
Hi Emma, my 10 month old boy has started doing what we call the crocodile roll while we change him. He refuses to lay on his back and let us do what needs to done, in particular applying rash cream has become impossible. We've tried giving him things to distract him but it only lasts a few seconds before we're both having to pin him down ( which we don't want to do) to change him. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Does this also affect babies if the carrier states it is safe for hip development?
Місяць тому+1
Of course, it's called marketing. The ideal carrier must not be stiff at the back and the bottom part must be able to spread completely between their two knee bends. And the carrier must be able to let the baby's leg to form an M shape. This is why a carrier for an exact size is not the best, because every baby has a different anatomy. That is why baby wraps and ring slings are better than soft structured carriers, at least until the baby can sit up on their own. If you can find a local baby carrier consultant nearby, they can help choose the best tool for you and your baby. At some places, you can even try out carriers. At least, in Hungary, we have these kind of opportunities. 😊
I hold my baby towards me using just bare hands, with my baby's chest and stomach resting against my chest. Is that alright? My baby gives off this weird sound like moaning when feeding and sometimes while sleeping. Should I be worried?
Are baby jumpers /jumperoos safe. Our 4 month old has had excellent head control since he was 3 months and his jumperoo is his favorite activity but now I'm worried we ruined his hips by putting him in it so early.
In a past video, she talks about jumpers and how they can negatively affect the babies development when the child cannot already stand on their own, they can also cause toe walking. Hope you can find the video where she talks about this more.
In a past video, she states that it’s not recommended for this exact reason. Also overheating with the extra padding around the head in car seats. Hope you can find the video.
It is never safe for baby to sleep in a car seat that is not secured into its base. An infant carrier outside of its base will likely be at an unsafe angle that will increase the risk of positional asphyxia.
She did a video recently on this, but from the title, it's hard to know what the video is about. It's called "Resist the urge to do this with your baby" and has a video of a baby trying to put their hands in their mouth but the parent pulling it out. She goes into the pros and cons of pacifier vs. Thumb sucking in that video.
My baby loves facing outwards! She get’s excited and looks at everything around her, moves her legs and arms and makes excitement noises and when she’s resting she noms the baby carrier drooling all over it😅 I try my best to position her legs as wide as possible or support them with my hands when they dangle too much.
Few things. Sucking fingers is not recommended. It'll make really hard taking away their "finger" when they're not supporse to be sucking anymore. You can take away a dummy, you can't take away their finger. Additionally it's also linked to dental problems, so it's generally a bad idea. These are well known facts.
Few things. Sucking fingers is developmentally appropriate for small children and babies. Once they are getting adult teeth they should outgrow thumb sucking or it can impact their dental development. Also, Emma is a professional who literally works with children and their development, so maybe she knows what she’s talking about.

I pierced mine at 2 weeks

Does being in a bouncer (e.g. a BabyBjörn) prior to 6 months old also negatively impact hip development?

Hi Emma, I’m a bit worried as I held my 4 months old baby in this position 2-3 times for about 15-20 mins, each time. Should I be worried?
At 1:00 she says if it's often and for long periods, that's when it becomes a concern. I don't think you need to be worried.
Literally just started doing this with my 6month old 😥 won’t be facing him outward anymore.
Love your videos!

No worries!
We have a second-hand dohm sound machine, and it's loud on the lowest setting! Can't use it on high bc it rattles. 😅
If you are concerned that it's too loud, you can try placing it as far from your baby's sleep space as possible and then checking the sound levels.
Cover it with a towel

The best way to know is by checking the noise level by using a sound meter app.

It's not, there's been stories of babies dying from being left in it for too long.
But babies cry at over 60 decibels?
Not for hours
It’s not just the volume, but also the duration of exposure that matters
There are plenty of baby carriers on the market designed to keep the hips abducted in a forward facing position.

@Soniboy84 - It's developmentally appropriate. I did a video on this recently: ua-cam.com/video/rf3oQfneKIY/v-deo.html
Babies should suck on fingers, they have no teeth. Children with teeth should not suck on fingers, it'll pull their teeth forward.
4:20 ive heard another great comparison to be as loud as a shower running
