Well said! I feel like that they did that to show we can do the regular kpop type formula and show investors how skilled the girls really are. The dances are hard for those two releases. Then they were able to go their own direction based on what the girls like and Simon sees in them🐺
I’m a 40 year old blues pianist and I also fell in love with them. I think because of there different styles of genres they can do. Their high dance skills make them special. And besides that their different personalities make them unique, still keeping the bar high with hard work….love them ❤

Women (especially) may also shave their heads if they have made a very large faux pas/ mistake. They cut off all their hair as a type of self-punishment. So, the normal rhetoric around this feels like something bad has happened. But I feel like the way Coco does it here feels like a reclamation. It is her choice. I feel the first 2 releases were more of a proof of concept to show AVEX this is what we can do, imagine if we had a bigger budget. And it looks like AVEX was convinced seeing the quantum leap in quality starting with Shooting Star. So in the documentary series we saw how Simon worked on music like Shooting Star and Mascara before the girls even debuted and I just think that he always had the vision for the girls to go off this hard but the budget was limited at the start. Tippy Toes and Mascara were a preview of their skills. I can understand why Avex was a little hesitant to go all in on XG, I mean a group of Japanese girls promoting in Korea (where there’s so much tension between the two countries) singing in English… very unprecedented and the whole thing could have flopped immensely. Simon knew all of this which is why he made sure he created the best team so their talent could speak for itself and it did.

it actually is the opposite for me, i usually feel the "inauthentic feel" for most kpop groups. xg is one of the very few groups that feel so authentic to me. i find it hard to watch music videos or performances for kpop, i can listen to them fine, but trying to watch them perform the songs is what makes it hard for me. there are a lot of kpop songs for me that i only listen to. but with xg, i know there's art accompanying the songs so i watch them every time and the mv is tattooed in my mind. each member gives their 110% and they embody the song and performance every. single. time. the passion for the craft and dedication to the concept is on equal levels for all of them which makes them a very coherent group. they know the vision, they see the vision, and they execute perfectly as one.

Well all kpop groups you listen to, most of them, especially the girl groups don’t write any of their songs so why is there a connection that you feel they have to their songs that you didn’t feel XG had to their first songs that make them “authentic”? It's very difficult to explain. It's not really about whether or not someone actually participates in the writing, I guess it's more whether or not it sounds like something they *would* write, in words that they would use? Maybe? Tbh it mostly just a feeling that I get and it's not group specific, it's song specific. Some songs just sound more authentic to the group and members themselves than others do to me. I wish I had a clear answer as to why but I dont its just one of those things. And it certainly isn't a bad thing or anything against the girls, it's just a personal thing that I have 🤷

Well all kpop groups you listen to, most of them, especially the girl groups don’t write any of their songs so why is there a connection that you feel they have to their songs that you didn’t feel XG had to their first songs that make them “authentic”? New Jeans, Aespa, Blackpink, Twice, Illit, Leserrafim, Itzy, etc.
It's very difficult to explain. It's not really about whether or not someone actually participates in the writing, I guess it's more whether or not it sounds like something they *would* write, in words that they would use? Maybe? Tbh it mostly just a feeling that I get and it's not group specific, it's song specific. Some songs just sound more authentic to the group and members themselves than others do to me. I wish I had a clear answer as to why but I dont its just one of those things. And it certainly isn't a bad thing or anything against the girls, it's just a personal thing that I have 🤷
You are right, and Cardi B? She didn't write her own rap. Some people are meant to be performer but I saw Maya and Cocona are also co write Show You Can. In future Maya could involved better because she speaks english
