It's crazy how this feels exactly like how the reveal for Pokemon Sword and Shield went. Big hype but with a lot of worries, and then immediately a statement comes out about how a big chunk of content that people were expecting isn't going to be in the game, that causes a huge split in the fanbase.
I feel like the reason they got a whole new voice cast was mainly because of the few they wouldn't be able to get back (like Vic for Junpei). It's still kind of wild to get rid of ALL of them, especially since some of the voices were very iconic, but I at least understand that decision. I'm just hoping they make playing this version worth it without the content from other versions.
Plus legacy voice actors are not cheap to come and bringing new voice actors gives more opportunities for individuals later down the line either a hit or miss. Also atlus do not want any contraversy about it. Hint:Bayonetta

I got a feeling we are constantly going to be going "It's so over" and "We're so back" with this game till it's release. I think the game will be a great remake and a great game, but I do hope Atlus considers delaying the game so that we can get the Answer and Femc.

If you buy a game when the definitive comes out you won’t find many ppl to play against and you will be behind by years in terms of experience. A wrongly translated IGN article and it's consequences... This comment section is filled with some of the most dense and overreactive people I have ever seen. 6 months later and the remake looks absolutely amazing. A universally disliked epilogue and an additional route made for a psp re-release (that has it's biggest appeal (male social links) and exclusive scenes included in the remake) wont change anything. I value them making all of the new content and additions to the main story far more than them spending most of that time and resources on an additional route that is not an integral part of p3 and was always labeled as "not the intended way to experience the story of p3".
like yeah i swear people here are really blinded with nostalgia here, like everywhere i go people complain about everything from the ost, the voice acting and also the gameplay because apparently FES to them still has the best gameplay even tho it was fucking tedious to get through a single block, but oh p3r is easy and new so it's automatically bad, and for the ost i'd say its subjective because everyone has different tastes in music but i wouldn't say it has a lot of bad tracks, i mean you got color you night, full moon full life, changing seasons remix, its going down now etc.. and keep in mind, p3fes is still my favorite persona game so far

The way I see it, I'm just glad to see new VAs getting a chance to play these characters (some of which are up and coming which is always a delight to see). I may be a little biased since I'm an aspiring voice actor myself, but what with this being a whole new chance to reimagine a pre-existing IP, giving a brand new cast of actors a chance to shine is kind of a must in my opinion (though I do understand that it's hard to let go of the voices we got attached to). I just think it's always a good thing to give new people a chance, and I feel like if we try and go into this with that mindset, it'll be a lot easier to get used to and better appreciate the new people and their talent.

That's not about expectations but common sense After so many years it would only make be logical to release the definitive Persona 3 to unite the fanbase, make it more accessible to everyone instead of STILL splitting content into 2 games, and now 3 But to be honest I still have some hope that, considering the "reload" title it's gonna have new content. Or they are probably going to sell old as dlc or make new "persona 3 reload fes". Persona 3 is a long enough game as it, and Femc was literally made to be a massive overhaul of the game. 8 new 10 rank social links with brand new 3d rank ups/events since they aren’t going to be in the visual novel style anymore, new music, new character models, new cutscenes, new UI, story changes, and even more work when you get into The Answer. Remember the boss fight against the shadow MC? Or the reveal of door-kun? All now need to be changed just to accommodate some players with something completely optional.
Hot Take: There's nothing you could do to The Answer to fix it save for completely redoing it. It adds nothing to the story of Persona 3 and only serves to make something very simple needlessly complicated. Sure, Metis is cool, and the duels are very iconic (along with Heartful Cry, my beloved), but there's not much substance there. The character backstories are neat to see, but they could easily roll that into the main story. It sucks that they're ditching FeMC AGAIN, but my hope was so low that I wasn't expecting it anyway. I wouldn't put it past Atlus to do a Persona 3 Reload Velvet or whatever, but I'm not going to hold my breath. (Although I said the same thing about P5, and here we are.) It really seems like Atlus doesn't give a shit about female protagonists and P3P was just a fluke. Here's hoping we end up being surprised by things Atlus is keeping close to the chest, but I'm still excited for this remake. P3 was always such a divisive game in the franchise because there was no "best" way to play it that anyone could agree on. I always championed P3P because it carries a lot of the quality of life features from P4 forward, and the lack of an overworld isn't a massive loss with P3 imo. (Also I disagree on the point about "copying" the style from P5. I think it's a smart move to give P3 more style. My guess is "the answer" would be released as a dlc (if we are lucky, else they wouldn't bother). The female protagonist route will be released as another game called Persona 3 Reload Female version.
back when the yukari footage got leaked I was thinking about how they could make the answer so much better in a remake, possibly adding a “modern” vs “original” option to either cut down on the bs the answer has in modern, perhaps by adding a compendium and letting you save before bosses, or get the full and occasionally frustrating experience of it in original, that way everyone can experience it in the way they want. too bad that was just wishful thinking
I 100% saw FEMC not being included coming she is non canon after all even though I personally like Wiping All Out more than Mass Destruction but not having The Answer is a bit of a shock. Theres quite a bit of improvement they could've done to The Answer and its certainly a shame both older fans and newcomers won't get a chance to experience it. Well at least I have FES and Portable originals to fall back on if Im disappointed in the Remake.
I will say a lot of the VA's it seems like either had to be replaced or were already replaced like I.E Ken and Fuuka were changed, and considering Junpei was inevitable, and I heard Aigis & Yuri for VA also had to changed (Yuri apparently stated he was too busy and couldn't do the role), so they most likely realize they wouldn't get most of the old cast back, and just replaced everyone to get a fresh start instead of some having the old VA's while others are completely new.

Oh boo hoo. P3R won't have this great additional content and only a core heart of its existence. If they were going to include The Answear and FeMC it would take a hell lot of work and we could get a remake in 2028 or get a rushed version now. Oh but it's only additional conten based on the main game. FeMC only changes models, music, UI color and Social Links. No. Not only. Thiose things are anything but "only". It would requiere some major and minor alterations to the base game, altering animations, cinematics, dialogues and reconstructing some scenes from ground up. That is not "only" job that you do in 6 months and then release it expecting that nothing in the game code won't go south.

Whether they liked it or not, FEMC was preserved by the steam release of Portable, and having to recreate every aspect of her and her social links when MC already has 22 is just dreaming at this point, especially when that content was honestly pretty non-essential to begin with. This applies double to The Answer. While I don’t hate the answer, it’s no secret that most don’t care for it, especially the eastern crowd, so there isn’t a point in remaking that. I honestly just want Atlus to make an even stronger base game than the original, instead of half-assing it to fit the fanbase’s ridiculous expectations of a “definitive version”.

@@korbenharrison434 Yeah, you can tell that not a lot people complaining really understand the development side of things. Not only would they need to make semi-new social links for the Femc, as they would need to adapt the visual novelness to 3d, they would also need to do new music, new ui, new cutscenes, and even story changes. Not only that, but if they included The Answer aswell, then they would need to make it compatible with the FemC route, meaning they would basically have to create two versions of the answer just to account for femc. Also, while I do think it sucks that The Answer isn’t going to be concluded, it’s ultimately not important to the overall Persona 3 experience. I think a lot of people are assuming that The Answer is like the 3rd semester in P5R, when it’s really not. It’s an epilogue story separate from everything else, you don’t even need to finish The Journey to play it. You play a completely different character from the protagonist, social links are non existent. The Answer is most likely to be DLC if Atlus does decide to add as DLC, but The Answer basically was DLC before DLC was a thing.

The main battle here is nostalgia. Old players will obviously expect to see a lot of what we've already seen from the original games, but if they play it safe and simply do what they've already done before, then it won't be a remake, rather it will be a remaster. Frankly, I don't think I'm going to be playing this remake or reload at all. I have a fair bit of attachment to the original voice cast so to have them all replaced is really disappointing for me. Some of the new voice actors give me a very wrong... Impression of what their performances would be like, so it definitely turns me away from it too. Then there's that story. Persona 3 at its core is bleak I think. The issues it tackled serious, even though the game itself had its moments of good and happy stuff. With this new direction I'm seeing, it seems as though Atlus is moving towards turning Persona 3 into the new Persona 5, a theme that I personally don't think would fit Persona 3 at all.
In a cosmic sort of way dumping the entire original cast was a deserved L, folks buying into Twitter drama like it wasn't going to curl a finger on the monkey's paw.
I think you are kinda letting your feelings get the better of you and you’ve fallen into a logical fallacy. That fallacy being that we know the game is going to change, and yet you hold it to the same gameplay loop as the originals. It’s a “Reload” for a reason. It’s a reimagination. Now, that in and of itself can bring its own problems to what the game COULD be… but not what it IS, because we don’t KNOW what it is. We know it’s different, shares P5 assets/basic core artstyle, and won’t have the added on content from previous remakes. I just think we need to give it a chance. Let it breathe. Maybe it has a really good reason! Maybe Tartarus will be so massive and fun that the game has more content. Or maybe creating a Fem route would take a LONG time because since it’s not Portable, you would need to basically Re-create the story from the ground up with a different style. So just- calm down. There are just as many potential good reasons to drop old ideas as there are bad. Judge it when we actually know more.
They even shown new content with Yukari and the cooking scene, and different layouts to the dungeon. You can even control the other party members. Thats not even talking about the new content we did not see from that trailer
As someone who's never played Persona 3, I personally don't have a problem with this since the core experience is still there. But I do understand it being underwhelming. Now if they confirm you can't control your party members, then I'd have something to say.
@DreamyShyShy You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Like all remakes, this isn't just a game for the fans, but also a way to create new fans. I'm much more compelled to play a game like this when I actually get to explore its world rather than as a visual novel like the Portable port, on top of general quality of life improvements. For longtime fans, yeah it's fair to expect more out of it. Not every remake is created equally, but I was also one of the people that actually liked Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl for what they are having played the originals too, so there's that. Honestly… I don’t care? Like… I high key just don’t care that The Answer won’t be there. I always thought the answer was incredibly unnecessary and honestly… kind of ruined the original ending. And no… I’m not gonna say “wahhhh they ruined all my favorite characters why did they act the way they did.” No, I mean, I feel The Answer kind of ruined the somber ambiguity the original ending had. I was satisfied with the ending Persona 3 gave me, because that’s what the story needed. It didn’t need thirty more hours to answer the ending of Persona 3… Persona 3 didn’t NEED an answer in my eyes. So I’m perfectly fine with them excluding it because I never thought The Answer should’ve existed anyway, though I do understand why some would be disappointed, I just personally can’t be. Heartful Cry and Brand New Days will be missed though, those are some of the best songs in the series and I wish they’d make a return in some form. FeMC I’m a little more disappointed by but that’s mostly cause we don’t get the *bussin* soundtrack she comes with. Don’t get me wrong, her inclusion would be NICE and I’d like her to be present but it’s not a deal breaker for me. I am however, incredibly disappointed about the voice cast change. Granted, a lot… and I mean A LOT of the original voice acting was… bad… it was just bad… and Vic Micnogna returning as Junpei would be really REALLY awkward. But Michelle Roff as Yukari? Liam O’Brien as Akihiko? Tara Platt as Mitsuru? I struggle to see why they wouldn’t bring them back, all of their voice performances were phenomenal. Knowing Atlus though they’ll probably add the answer and FeMC in as DLC, with the option to switch back to old voices for 10 bucks cause fuck it, or release Persona 3 Reload Remix AND STILL release the OG voice pack for 10 bucks. Would I still buy it? I’m ashamed to say yes… I am forever a slave to this company.
I saw this coming. I have already know, that FEMC and Answer will not be in base game. But FES don't do just Answer. What about social lick for a toster-girl? I hope at least this kind of things from FES will be at the base game.
I only started playing p5r last month. Already in love with the franchise. Lots of people told me about P3 and how much they love it. When I asked which version to play, literally everyone asked responded with "the version that has FeMC and The Answer". Seems kind of stupid to remake the worst version of the game.
People before me didn't actually explain. "The answer" is only available on the PS2 Persona 3 FES, while the Female lead is only present on P3 Portable which does not include "The answer". There's no version with the two things included.That is why Persona 3 doesn't have a definitive edition like the other ones.
The 2 versions of the game (female protag/male protag) are very much beloved. But I guess most people got attached to the FeMC route, which is why a lot are annoyed at the announcement that she won't be available in the remake
the remake isn’t the worst version of the game simply because it lacks content, especially “the answer” since it hasn’t really seemed to be widely liked, it’s still disappointing femc route wasn’t remade but at the end of the day the base game of persona 3 is what matters most and you’ll get a complete experience in the best possible way gameplay wise and visually
eh I can live with no femc and DLC answer tbh. recast VAs aren't unexpected either. but if the male party/aigis/platonic option social links aren't there that will be a GTA remaster level L for atlus. the roasts will literally never end.
I don't see how they'd add the male social links since Kenji is already there, unless maybe they let you choose which link you want. Like P4 did with the band girls. Kenji not being a SL could also be the case. Guess we just have to wait and see.

Did people seriously not see the whole new voice cast coming and also wasn't Persona 3 still a big game before FES came out and plus if Atlus were to add Femc then why would they re-release P3P in short so what if they're only going to remake the original Persona 3 as long as it still captures why people loved Persona 3 for new fans and old fans.
The female main character WAS why I loved Persona 3. I first heard of it in high school when it came out and my friend got it, and it seemed kind of cool, but not enough for me to get it. Then I saw the PSP version would have a female main character and I was intrigued enough to actually buy it myself. I had an incredible time, and that's when I got into the series. Had they not done that, I wouldn't have gotten into the series at all.
I hate saying this, but I completely disagree. Persona 3 FES played large role in back when I was in the first year of my highschool, sadly I got into highschool during the time covid was at its worst, so I had to be home, had no friends and all I could do was play games. My graduation is next year, that means that persona 3 will be there for me. I know this might sound selfish, but I do not give a jack shit about FeMC or answer, I am one of few people that actually loved answer, yet I do not want it to be remade, I want it to be something that will make Persona 3 FES worth coming back to. I pray to gods Persona 3 reload will be amazing, and so should you if you are a fan of the game.
Imo, they should've just done a remaster while cleaning up some things a bit audio gameplay stuff etc ... keep the same V.A's, and just make it a remaster cause remakes are a git or miss especially with newer games. Cant say to much about the V.A's (though would need to hear a sample to compare) but the V.A recast was the needle in the haystack.

I've never played any Persona 3 version and was always so confused on what version to play before this. I was excited for the remake cause it made sense for it to have all of the above-- but now i don't know what version of Persona 3 to play anymore. I just wish there was a definitive version and if this ain't it graphics aside idk where to get into it
i would reasonably say this is the still the definitive edition of persona 3, people are getting too hooked up on the extra content they’re failing to see that what matters most about experiencing this story is the actual main story, everything from portable and fes is just extras. if you wanted to play the main persona 3 before the remake then your options were a resale of the ps2 original for like over 100 bucks, fes on the ps3 store or a resale for a similar price, or the remaster of portable which aside from having femc route has the worst presentation and since the remaster probably has similarly worse visuals. for a new player this is objectively a godsend

If I got into the world of Persona 3 with this remake, but then still wanted to play through the FEMC story stuff and The Answer, I'd need to buy three games, with the remake being the one with the least story content. I'm usually on the other side of this, but I feel like this game will make up for no FEMC/Answer and maybe more. They set the expectation at Persona 5, which is a massive game even without the Royal stuff. Much bigger than base P3. I'm thinking that there will be a more stylish presentation, more social links, and more ways to spend time. I still get overwhelmed with options in Persona 5. That would make me completely forget about FEMC. I don't have any proof, but I feel like they will be adding a lot more to the base game than we think. Something tells me we'll look back at this and laugh at how much we didn't know about this game.
I don't mind it being similar to persona 5 since persona 4 kinda did that with persona 3 and still felt unique. Though I can't excuse the cut content especially if they're planning on making that dlc. At least I still have my copy if FES and portable is easy to emulate.
I mean... This is all I could ask for. The most efficient and practical version they could have pumped out. Exclusion of FEMC and the answer was pretty much a given. I wasn't expecting my box of chicken nuggets to come with tomato sauce in it. They said it was a persona 3 remake... and it is.
I think it will still be a good game but it is so disappointing that ATLUS chose to go for the route that potentially made more money instead of making life easier for their fans. On one hand I'd like for this game to succeed, it would be a shame if this fails and they give up on this venture and leave us with just this remake of the first game and we never get a definitive version of the game. On the other hand, I kinda of want it to fail so that maybe they will learn their lesson but lets be honest, they never will. Either way, ATLUS lost a lot of goodwill with this move. I wonder how much they will be able to get away with until people get conpletely tired of their shit and they fail as a company.

It's crazy how this feels exactly like how the reveal for Pokemon Sword and Shield went. Big hype but with a lot of worries, and then immediately a statement comes out about how a big chunk of content that people were expecting isn't going to be in the game, that causes a huge split in the fanbase.

I feel like the reason they got a whole new voice cast was mainly because of the few they wouldn't be able to get back (like Vic for Junpei). It's still kind of wild to get rid of ALL of them, especially since some of the voices were very iconic, but I at least understand that decision. I'm just hoping they make playing this version worth it without the content from other versions.
Plus legacy voice actors are not cheap to come and bringing new voice actors gives more opportunities for individuals later down the line either a hit or miss. Also atlus do not want any contraversy about it. Hint:Bayonetta

A wrongly translated IGN article and it's consequences... This comment section is filled with some of the most dense and overreactive people I have ever seen. 6 months later and the remake looks absolutely amazing. A universally disliked epilogue and an additional route made for a psp re-release (that has it's biggest appeal (male social links) and exclusive scenes included in the remake) wont change anything. I value them making all of the new content and additions to the main story far more than them spending most of that time and resources on an additional route that is not an integral part of p3 and was always labeled as "not the intended way to experience the story of p3".

The way I see it, I'm just glad to see new VAs getting a chance to play these characters (some of which are up and coming which is always a delight to see). I may be a little biased since I'm an aspiring voice actor myself, but what with this being a whole new chance to reimagine a pre-existing IP, giving a brand new cast of actors a chance to shine is kind of a must in my opinion (though I do understand that it's hard to let go of the voices we got attached to). I just think it's always a good thing to give new people a chance, and I feel like if we try and go into this with that mindset, it'll be a lot easier to get used to and better appreciate the new people and their talent.

Persona 3 is a long enough game as it, and Femc was literally made to be a massive overhaul of the game. 8 new 10 rank social links with brand new 3d rank ups/events since they aren’t going to be in the visual novel style anymore, new music, new character models, new cutscenes, new UI, story changes, and even more work when you get into The Answer. Remember the boss fight against the shadow MC? Or the reveal of door-kun? All now need to be changed just to accommodate some players with something completely optional.

Hot Take: There's nothing you could do to The Answer to fix it save for completely redoing it. It adds nothing to the story of Persona 3 and only serves to make something very simple needlessly complicated. Sure, Metis is cool, and the duels are very iconic (along with Heartful Cry, my beloved), but there's not much substance there. The character backstories are neat to see, but they could easily roll that into the main story.
It sucks that they're ditching FeMC AGAIN, but my hope was so low that I wasn't expecting it anyway. I wouldn't put it past Atlus to do a Persona 3 Reload Velvet or whatever, but I'm not going to hold my breath. (Although I said the same thing about P5, and here we are.) It really seems like Atlus doesn't give a shit about female protagonists and P3P was just a fluke.
Here's hoping we end up being surprised by things Atlus is keeping close to the chest, but I'm still excited for this remake. P3 was always such a divisive game in the franchise because there was no "best" way to play it that anyone could agree on. I always championed P3P because it carries a lot of the quality of life features from P4 forward, and the lack of an overworld isn't a massive loss with P3 imo.
(Also I disagree on the point about "copying" the style from P5. I think it's a smart move to give P3 more style. Besides, you know people would complain if P3R was more subdued than P5, and I think the UI looks nice overall. It's not as blatant as P3 to P4 where it's basically just a palette swap with slightly more flair.)

back when the yukari footage got leaked I was thinking about how they could make the answer so much better in a remake, possibly adding a “modern” vs “original” option to either cut down on the bs the answer has in modern, perhaps by adding a compendium and letting you save before bosses, or get the full and occasionally frustrating experience of it in original, that way everyone can experience it in the way they want. too bad that was just wishful thinking

I 100% saw FEMC not being included coming she is non canon after all even though I personally like Wiping All Out more than Mass Destruction but not having The Answer is a bit of a shock. Theres quite a bit of improvement they could've done to The Answer and its certainly a shame both older fans and newcomers won't get a chance to experience it.
Well at least I have FES and Portable originals to fall back on if Im disappointed in the Remake.
I will say a lot of the VA's it seems like either had to be replaced or were already replaced like I.E Ken and Fuuka were changed, and considering Junpei was inevitable, and I heard Aigis & Yuri for VA also had to changed (Yuri apparently stated he was too busy and couldn't do the role), so they most likely realize they wouldn't get most of the old cast back, and just replaced everyone to get a fresh start instead of some having the old VA's while others are completely new.

Oh boo hoo. P3R won't have this great additional content and only a core heart of its existence. If they were going to include The Answear and FeMC it would take a hell lot of work and we could get a remake in 2028 or get a rushed version now. Oh but it's only additional conten based on the main game. FeMC only changes models, music, UI color and Social Links. No. Not only. Thiose things are anything but "only". It would requiere some major and minor alterations to the base game, altering animations, cinematics, dialogues and reconstructing some scenes from ground up. That is not "only" job that you do in 6 months and then release it expecting that nothing in the game code won't go south.

They literally announce a highly anticipated, and highly wanted, remake and people are mad because it’s not exactly what they want. Then again this is the same fanbase that harassed most of Twitter for a port.

Whether they liked it or not, FEMC was preserved by the steam release of Portable, and having to recreate every aspect of her and her social links when MC already has 22 is just dreaming at this point, especially when that content was honestly pretty non-essential to begin with. This applies double to The Answer. While I don’t hate the answer, it’s no secret that most don’t care for it, especially the eastern crowd, so there isn’t a point in remaking that. I honestly just want Atlus to make an even stronger base game than the original, instead of half-assing it to fit the fanbase’s ridiculous expectations of a “definitive version”.

Not only would they need to make semi-new social links for the Femc, as they would need to adapt the visual novelness to 3d, they would also need to do new music, new ui, new cutscenes, and even story changes. Not only that, but if they included The Answer aswell, then they would need to make it compatible with the FemC route, meaning they would basically have to create two versions of the answer just to account for femc. Also, while I do think it sucks that The Answer isn’t going to be concluded, it’s ultimately not important to the overall Persona 3 experience. I think a lot of people are assuming that The Answer is like the 3rd semester in P5R, when it’s really not. It’s an epilogue story separate from everything else, you don’t even need to finish The Journey to play it. You play a completely different character from the protagonist, social links are non existent. The Answer is most likely to be DLC if Atlus does decide to add as DLC, but The Answer basically was DLC before DLC was a thing.

The main battle here is nostalgia. Old players will obviously expect to see a lot of what we've already seen from the original games, but if they play it safe and simply do what they've already done before, then it won't be a remake, rather it will be a remaster.
Frankly, I don't think I'm going to be playing this remake or reload at all. I have a fair bit of attachment to the original voice cast so to have them all replaced is really disappointing for me. Some of the new voice actors give me a very wrong... Impression of what their performances would be like, so it definitely turns me away from it too.
Then there's that story. Persona 3 at its core is bleak I think. The issues it tackled serious, even though the game itself had its moments of good and happy stuff. With this new direction I'm seeing, it seems as though Atlus is moving towards turning Persona 3 into the new Persona 5, a theme that I personally don't think would fit Persona 3 at all.

I think you are kinda letting your feelings get the better of you and you’ve fallen into a logical fallacy. That fallacy being that we know the game is going to change, and yet you hold it to the same gameplay loop as the originals.
It’s a “Reload” for a reason. It’s a reimagination.
Now, that in and of itself can bring its own problems to what the game COULD be… but not what it IS, because we don’t KNOW what it is.
We know it’s different, shares P5 assets/basic core artstyle, and won’t have the added on content from previous remakes.
I just think we need to give it a chance. Let it breathe. Maybe it has a really good reason! Maybe Tartarus will be so massive and fun that the game has more content. Or maybe creating a Fem route would take a LONG time because since it’s not Portable, you would need to basically Re-create the story from the ground up with a different style.
So just- calm down. There are just as many potential good reasons to drop old ideas as there are bad. Judge it when we actually know more.
They even shown new content with Yukari and the cooking scene, and different layouts to the dungeon. You can even control the other party members. Thats not even talking about the new content we did not see from that trailer
As someone who's never played Persona 3, I personally don't have a problem with this since the core experience is still there. But I do understand it being underwhelming. Now if they confirm you can't control your party members, then I'd have something to say.
@DreamyShyShy You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Like all remakes, this isn't just a game for the fans, but also a way to create new fans. I'm much more compelled to play a game like this when I actually get to explore its world rather than as a visual novel like the Portable port, on top of general quality of life improvements. For longtime fans, yeah it's fair to expect more out of it. Not every remake is created equally, but I was also one of the people that actually liked Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl for what they are having played the originals too, so there's that. I’m glad to find someone who’s in the same situation, that being said though, I am still concerned if Atlus decides to pull a Persona 5 and release an improved version with more content a year after this comes out. $70 rn is quite a lot of money
They already shown in the trailer you can control your own party, and they will be adding new content from the original .

Honestly… I don’t care? Like… I high key just don’t care that The Answer won’t be there. I always thought the answer was incredibly unnecessary and honestly… kind of ruined the original ending. And no… I’m not gonna say “wahhhh they ruined all my favorite characters why did they act the way they did.” No, I mean, I feel The Answer kind of ruined the somber ambiguity the original ending had. I was satisfied with the ending Persona 3 gave me, because that’s what the story needed. It didn’t need thirty more hours to answer the ending of Persona 3… Persona 3 didn’t NEED an answer in my eyes. So I’m perfectly fine with them excluding it because I never thought The Answer should’ve existed anyway, though I do understand why some would be disappointed, I just personally can’t be. Heartful Cry and Brand New Days will be missed though, those are some of the best songs in the series and I wish they’d make a return in some form.
FeMC I’m a little more disappointed by but that’s mostly cause we don’t get the *bussin* soundtrack she comes with. Don’t get me wrong, her inclusion would be NICE and I’d like her to be present but it’s not a deal breaker for me.
I am however, incredibly disappointed about the voice cast change. Granted, a lot… and I mean A LOT of the original voice acting was… bad… it was just bad… and Vic Micnogna returning as Junpei would be really REALLY awkward. But Michelle Roff as Yukari? Liam O’Brien as Akihiko? Tara Platt as Mitsuru? I struggle to see why they wouldn’t bring them back, all of their voice performances were phenomenal.
Knowing Atlus though they’ll probably add the answer and FeMC in as DLC, with the option to switch back to old voices for 10 bucks cause fuck it, or release Persona 3 Reload Remix AND STILL release the OG voice pack for 10 bucks. Would I still buy it? I’m ashamed to say yes… I am forever a slave to this company.

It's a pity that they changed the voice actors. But that's not the problem! The gameplay itself is the only thing that matter for me.
I only started playing p5r last month. Already in love with the franchise. Lots of people told me about P3 and how much they love it. When I asked which version to play, literally everyone asked responded with "the version that has FeMC and The Answer". Seems kind of stupid to remake the worst version of the game.

"The answer" is only available on the PS2 Persona 3 FES, while the Female lead is only present on P3 Portable which does not include "The answer".
There's no version with the two things included.That is why Persona 3 doesn't have a definitive edition like the other ones.
The 2 versions of the game (female protag/male protag) are very much beloved. But I guess most people got attached to the FeMC route, which is why a lot are annoyed at the announcement that she won't be available in the remake
the remake isn’t the worst version of the game simply because it lacks content, especially “the answer” since it hasn’t really seemed to be widely liked, it’s still disappointing femc route wasn’t remade but at the end of the day the base game of persona 3 is what matters most and you’ll get a complete experience in the best possible way gameplay wise and visually

Did people seriously not see the whole new voice cast coming and also wasn't Persona 3 still a big game before FES came out and plus if Atlus were to add Femc then why would they re-release P3P in short so what if they're only going to remake the original Persona 3 as long as it still captures why people loved Persona 3 for new fans and old fans.
The female main character WAS why I loved Persona 3. I first heard of it in high school when it came out and my friend got it, and it seemed kind of cool, but not enough for me to get it. Then I saw the PSP version would have a female main character and I was intrigued enough to actually buy it myself. I had an incredible time, and that's when I got into the series. Had they not done that, I wouldn't have gotten into the series at all.
I hate saying this, but I completely disagree. Persona 3 FES played large role in back when I was in the first year of my highschool, sadly I got into highschool during the time covid was at its worst, so I had to be home, had no friends and all I could do was play games. My graduation is next year, that means that persona 3 will be there for me. I know this might sound selfish, but I do not give a jack shit about FeMC or answer, I am one of few people that actually loved answer, yet I do not want it to be remade, I want it to be something that will make Persona 3 FES worth coming back to. I pray to gods Persona 3 reload will be amazing, and so should you if you are a fan of the game.
I'm a fan and I'll still criticise it if it doesn't meet my standards.

Imo, they should've just done a remaster while cleaning up some things a bit audio gameplay stuff etc ... keep the same V.A's, and just make it a remaster cause remakes are a git or miss especially with newer games. Cant say to much about the V.A's (though would need to hear a sample to compare) but the V.A recast was the needle in the haystack.
Game devs. Stop thinking marketing remakes as remaking only the vanilla versions as a good marketing tactic. We already know you'll make us double dip. And for those that don't, screw you (Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes are still trash)

I've never played any Persona 3 version and was always so confused on what version to play before this. I was excited for the remake cause it made sense for it to have all of the above-- but now i don't know what version of Persona 3 to play anymore. I just wish there was a definitive version and if this ain't it graphics aside idk where to get into it
i would reasonably say this is the still the definitive edition of persona 3, people are getting too hooked up on the extra content they’re failing to see that what matters most about experiencing this story is the actual main story, everything from portable and fes is just extras. if you wanted to play the main persona 3 before the remake then your options were a resale of the ps2 original for like over 100 bucks, fes on the ps3 store or a resale for a similar price, or the remaster of portable which aside from having femc route has the worst presentation and since the remaster probably has similarly worse visuals. for a new player this is objectively a godsend

If I got into the world of Persona 3 with this remake, but then still wanted to play through the FEMC story stuff and The Answer, I'd need to buy three games, with the remake being the one with the least story content. Because of this the remake has no value to me anymore. Why would I buy this If I wanna see as much of the P3 universe as I can?

Besides that people unanimously agree the gameplay of the answer sucks so what real difference does it make if you watch it and still know what’s going on? As for FEMC your practically playing another 100+ hour game twice so what difference is it if you paying for the same game but cheaper months after you beat the remake? While having the ideal experience is understandable it’s not so chaotic that it can’t be managed

They set the expectation at Persona 5, which is a massive game even without the Royal stuff. Much bigger than base P3.
I'm thinking that there will be a more stylish presentation, more social links, and more ways to spend time. I still get overwhelmed with options in Persona 5. That would make me completely forget about FEMC.
I don't have any proof, but I feel like they will be adding a lot more to the base game than we think. Something tells me we'll look back at this and laugh at how much we didn't know about this game.
I don't mind it being similar to persona 5 since persona 4 kinda did that with persona 3 and still felt unique. Though I can't excuse the cut content especially if they're planning on making that dlc. At least I still have my copy if FES and portable is easy to emulate.

I mean... This is all I could ask for. The most efficient and practical version they could have pumped out. Exclusion of FEMC and the answer was pretty much a given. I wasn't expecting my box of chicken nuggets to come with tomato sauce in it. They said it was a persona 3 remake... and it is.

I think it will still be a good game but it is so disappointing that ATLUS chose to go for the route that potentially made more money instead of making life easier for their fans.
On one hand I'd like for this game to succeed, it would be a shame if this fails and they give up on this venture and leave us with just this remake of the first game and we never get a definitive version of the game.
On the other hand, I kinda of want it to fail so that maybe they will learn their lesson but lets be honest, they never will.
Either way, ATLUS lost a lot of goodwill with this move. I wonder how much they will be able to get away with until people get conpletely tired of their shit and they fail as a company.
