Bruh, Mace murdering Anakin in cold blood like that when he knows Anakin no longer has any will to fight is completely out of character. And no, his raring to kill Sidious when the latter was feigning weakness holds no comparison because unlike with Anakin in this story, Sidious was still raring to go should he have failed to sway Anakin. Still, Mace did not take the recordings so he sentenced himself and the Jedi Order to death as this proved Barriss Offie was right about the Jedi and they would be put on trial and executed as in time the Younglings would seek revenge for the rest of the Jedi Order.
Mace may have saved the galaxy, but he destroyed the Jedi Order, likely forever!
With Anakin at his side he might have been able to save the Jedi Order, but without Anakin, it's all over!
An empire would likely still rise, but it would not be a Sith Empire, but does that matter ?
