a lot of chat flaming people for using wireless headphones/earbuds, but its actually so much more convenient. i didnt think it would make much of a difference for me at first, and now i dont think i can ever switch back to wired for use on the move (still use wired headphones at my computer tho). airpods are definitely one of the best gifts ive been given

the m1 chip already lets me run 2 simulations faster than just one on my 4k gaming pc lol. The new chips are insanly fucking good if they are 5x faster, like what the fuck. Being an engineer just got so much easier.
I think people fail to realize that 1000 dollar stands and the literal crap they also sell help finance actual groundbreaking tech as the M1.

@Blake Video/audio processing, simulations, heavy workload applications. Granted a desktop for the same price would outperform, but for a laptop this is amazing.
@@InputOutput10 Depends tho, 3D modelling software such as Revit, Solidworks do not have their Mac counterparts. Simulation software for electrical and electronics engineering is not available for Macs. These macs are great for creative work, I would like to get one of the 16 inch as well for its speaker. But its going to be a $3299 UA-cam machine to me and I do not have that much money to buy something that cannot serve as my sole daily driver. Until there is a better emulation support for other OS, its not for me, not for everyone.

The new MacBook Pro is definitely marketed towards professionals. Hence the "pro" name. People who mainly watch media or use simple stuff like Google Docs are more better suited with the m1 air. Still theres a decent number of people who used the air for basic 4k video editing and it's actually priced very competitively
but at the same time macOS is way worse for actual pros and everyone that I've asked especially in the tech industry fucking hates when they get macs from work and they would rather just use their desktop at home

After watching this video I realize now that XQC doesn’t know jack shit about how powerful and efficient these new chips are. Literally matches the power of a PS5 in a small laptop form factor with TWICE the power efficiency. Literally no Windows laptop is even close to something like this.

It's not about money, it's the cognitive dissonance where he's rejecting new information that conflicts with his beliefs about Apple. For example the battery life claims are generally true since it's a different cpu architecture (ARM) that is more efficient than a typical laptop cpu. These changes are good you should be criticizing other things like how the software is still cancer, and repair is pretty much impossible at this point, and the prices are sky high.

It’s extremely rare I’m delivering footage that is anything less than 4K, most of the time 6K. And it’s always .mxf’s or Prores 4444 files, sometimes R3D files. So these M1 chips are life changing for delivery turn arounds. And people like me are not rare, Hollywood is a multibillion dollar industry of people teeming for stuff like this.

These in-house SoCs are actually stupid fast. The memory bandwidth they have on these is nuts. You can complain about Apple all you want and moan about how your PC is so much better, but let this computer engineering student tell you: this set of chips is truly impressive. Torch the competition and also have low power consumption cuz they’re RISC-V. Intel is in shambles right now, guaranteed. If I could get over the 2000 baseline price tag, I would definitely pick one of these up today.

I am trying to find out more information on their ssd with a 7.6 gb/s transfer speeds. I know PCI 4.e supports those speeds but couldn't find any information on the apple ssd. Do they use QLC or TLC?

ARM has a while to develop for laptops. Apple is near untouchable in this realm for a while. Unless Snapdragon or Microsoft put more effort into it. Such as the Samsung notebooks that use ARM but are really bad in performance

I mean tbh it really depends on the industry. If you are working in the graphic design industry apple is even better than windows. It has a lot more support and more active developers as the app store is a really good marketplace for app developers to make money on. I guess if you look in industries that a a little more hands on like engineering you're probably still better off with windows but Im pretty sure that's also because of the anti apple stigma in those circles
@@grizzly0304 i’m a designer full time and i kind of agree, the screens are just next level and the OS’s way of handling images is really good, but a built windows desktop with a high res and calibrated screen is just as good. for design and web browsing macs are great. if all you do is game yeah it’s obviously going to be bad but that doesn’t make them dogshit, it just means it’s not for you (not meaning you specifically)

Sick of people jumping through hoops to pretend these products are terrible, when in the past year apple has been the industry leader in portable laptop performance, these new pro laptops only take that further. Again on people jumping through hoops, they somehow act like apple listening to their customers and doing what people want by bringing back ports and removing the Touchbar is somehow apple pretending to do new things, they are not trying to make anyone believe that HDMI is new, they are literally adding back a useful feature and they still act like its bad, this is one of many examples..

Exactly, even the MacBook Air M1 does amazing on benchmarks against competing laptops. I used to dislike Apple because of their previous generations of the Macbook and its overpriced shit but ever since the introduction of M1, its looks like its actually worth the money now and I might even get the Air.

Honestly it’s so sad that nowadays when it comes to tech there’s this attitude that I NEED to get the highest end flagship and if it’s out of my budget the company is trash or the product is useless. We need to get rid of this mindset. People keep saying macs are expensive and refer to the macbook pros which are not intended for causal use. People keep comparing a foldable phone to a normal phone and say not competitive enough not cheap enough. Yeah these companies depend on people who want to buy the highest end stuff even if they don’t use it but still that doesn’t change the fact that a product is bleeding edge. It’s like me wanting a threadripper just cause it’s the higher end offering and then saying oh it’s not better for gaming and that oh it’s so overpriced it’s trash I can’t play games on it. Or saying ryzen is trash cause it can’t do what thread ripped does. Also UA-camrs who use some lame expensive ultra books just for typing scripts and browsing web are to be blamed for this as well. I’ve lost counts on seeing laptops being recommended that are extremely expensive and have absolute garbage inside them but are recommended for reasons like good keyboard or portability. I mean seriously 1000 plus bucks for a laptop that u can do nothing on ? No gaming ko productivity just some thin laptop with a trash intel chip. I’m not gonna take the names of these laptops but I hope yall get my point.

I know people who use 2012 era macbooks still to this day and they work just as fine as they did 10 years ago, try to last that long with a 800$ HP laptop. Money isn't even an argument when you're using these machines for work, take that from a software engineer. Would you tell a mechanic he's dumb for using expensive Snap-On tools instead of Walmart brand ones? You want a machine that will never let you down, and that's why Apple is worth paying more.
@Waxy mix i can tell you about the planned obsolescence on all the new apple phones which don't allow you to replace any parts. If you change out battery it wont work as intended, if you replace screen it won't work as intended. Stop pretending any company is your friend, they don't give a shit about you and apple is by far the worst when it comes to repairability which leads to massive ewaste. They are actively stopping you from keeping a product from continuing to work.

I use a Macbook Pro 2018 15inch for music production, and yeah, the battery sucks balls. But it runs huge projects nearly flawlessly. I will not be needing an 11 times faster computer in any near future.
You might actually be needing one, the m1 batteries are super good, watch some reviews later on when they release.
In comparison with other laptop brands apple (especially with the M1 family) has by far the best battery life

The hardware is pretty damn impressive in these laptops for the performance and battery life. MacOS is what ruins it for me, obviously Apple isn't going to let you install Windows on this. Let's hope Windows machines start to get more competitive to keep up with Apple.

I bought the Macbook Air M1 and coming from Windows I had to change quite a few settings and install programs to make the whole thing more like Windows. Now it works great for what I need it to do. Also really wanted a 100% silent laptop without fans.
Apple did allow Windows on their Mac prior to the M machines, via boot camp. Microsoft are the ones not supporting Windows on the M1 machines, you have to use a virtual machine, which I have installed but it isn’t great.

The thin screen bezel thing is one of the dumbest things they push for, my 2015 macbook gets hella fingerprints since the screen is so thin you can't really grab it and there is only glass until the edge. Even when its just black bars covered with glass, it's annoying, but getting that shit on the actual screen would be horrible

3 years ago I would have agreed with the 4k take, but it has been the new standard for some time now.
I also used to be pretty anti 4k until recently, simply because hardware wasn't really at a point yet where it was worth, but starting from the 2070 super and upwards it's completely accesible.
Doesn't X use a 1080p 360hz monitor? That's such a big waste since he is not even in the competitive scene anymore.
He is literally hindering and bottlenecking his performance with a screen that has a resolution that low.
He could easily get himself a 4k 144hz monitor that he would probably enjoy way more, but you have to make the step first to actually get it.
I think for gaming 1440p 165hz is the sweetspot atm. 4k in demanding games will not let you get over 100 fps anyway even with high end hardware especially if you are streaming at the same time. 1440p still lets you get good framerates with a nice resolution bump to make everything look better.

PS: 6 hours for wireless earbuds is pretty good considering the quality.
They are convenient :
- You don't feel anything on your head (unlike real headphones) (I sometime don't even notice I have them on)
- It's easy to take when your going outside : You might not use them in the street or in public transport, but imagine you are waiting for an apointement with a doctor, you take your earbuds out of your pocket and listen (just like wired headphones, yes, but it is way easier to use.
- I'm using my airpods constantly for gaming, youtube etc, and they don't die often when i'm trying to use them.
In a normal day you most probably take of your airpods / earbuds to eat or speak with someone at least every 4 hours...
Anyway: Not an apple fan, dude that notch is horrible and I hate macos, but theese products are pretty cool... Thoose airpods are nice, and theese macs are really really really good for pros... !
