    Don't see much videos, or if any. It'd be cool to see you guys talk about clutch pedal/throttle work using the LSD to grip up the car. Makes for a good advanced technique that isn't talked about as much

    I have a short wheel base similar to a ae86. how does having the short wheel base change how you have to drive the car? way more revs ect? it tends to snap oversteer and correct ect.

    • @DriftSchoolTV

      Sorry for the late reply! UA-cam didn't give a notification :/
      A short wheel base is more prone to straightening, so you have to rely less on power and more on momentum. So using handbrake to extend becomes a little more difficult but the key is to enter the corner later than what most chassis would have to. The benefit you have is thanks to being shorter wheel base as well as a typically lighter car, speed is washed off quicker. Commit!

    So no clutch kick at Iniation? Just foot the the floor on the gas .

    • @DriftSchoolTV
      @DriftSchoolTV  9 місяців тому

      For the initial feint to unsettle, its good not to, but you can. For the actual turn into the entry its good to clutch kick for extra impact and rotation.

    Negative mate! You want to do the red line, foot to the floor, coming in one gear to high for the corner! Swing it like a savage in thrid or forth gear, downshift a gear during transition into the corner, scrubbing speed before you mash it into the clipping point and powering out

    1st NO yanking, unless absolutely had to, hb is for parking , kaicho n his teammates & most of the jp drifter dont yank , nob, hibino, they dont reach for hb, cringe to see western drifter cant even initiate drift without yanking, they just cant stop reaching for that stick

    • @DriftSchoolTV
      @DriftSchoolTV  3 місяці тому

      Not sure what you're waffling on about.
      To start, Kaicho drives AE86, so the style of N/A hachiroku doesnt require handbrake as much, due to multiple factors, one being most entry speeds of n/a 4ag is lower than most modern day drift cars, so there is less speed to trim. The cars themselves are lighter & shorter, so the weight itself doesn't carry you as far as say a Silvia.
      If you look a little further than 1 or 2 videos from the early 2000s, you'll also find that Nob & Hibino do use it as well. Taniguchi is actually commonly seen starting an entry with handbrake if you watch a lot of the newer material.
      'JP' drivers in your words don't yank. Ok, 3 modern successful drivers in the era could be say Naoki, Daigo & Yokoi. You'll have a tough challenge finding a video where handbrake isn't used.
      Simply put, it's another tool of a drift car that can be utilised, the issue is when you rely on it for every single action.
      For the video itself, you can see that the handbrake is used AFTER a feint + clutch to ASSIST with rotating the car like a 'snap'. But seems like it was all a bit much for you to comprehend.
      There is no medal unfortunately for getting around a course with no handbrake like you're describing, the only one that looks stupid is you not using a valuable tool of a drift car.
      Cringe to see a keyboard warrior try to talk about something they don't get. Please refrain from commenting when having 0 understanding of any technical aspect to drifting in reality.
