Thank you so much Kristina for the in depth explanation on how you decided to quilt your Alaska quilt top. What an amazing job on your quilting and simulateous filming! I want to quilt my Nebula quilt top but I have been staring at it loaded on my LA for 2 months! It took a year+ to piece and its 100" x 100" and I am so afraid that I will mess it up. With your 4 part series, I now have new tools and ideas that will help me with my quilting design. Wish me luck!

Hi Kristina and Kim! Wow! Kristina, that is awesome! Did you continue to use monopoly? I think I see that you pieced your backing. Do you have any tips for dealing with the many seams? When seaming a backing, you recommend the seam to go horizontal. How do you cope with the vertical seams in your pieced backing when quilting? Thank you for the videos that all you ladies make for us!
Great question!! Generally pieced backings have one big seam which should if at all possible be loaded parallel to the poles. If there are lots of seams throughout the entire backing (like this one), they kind of balance each other out. It isn't just one section that has seam build up. It is more like a quilt top that has piecing evenly spread throughout the quilt.
The best part of this for me is how slow and deliberate you are. I have always thought accomplished / expert quilters go so much faster than I would ever be able to go. It's absolutely stunning.

Wonderful job Kristina! I noticed (and maybe I missed your explanation somewhere) that you used your Glide Foot with the ruler (about 8:30 in). I didn't know you could use anything but the Ruler Foot with the rulers. Are there any other feet that can be used with rulers?
That is actually the largest size echo foot which can be used with rulers. You definitely should not use the Glide foot for ruler work!! Feet that can be used with rulers (carefully) include the Sure foot, echo feet, and couching feet. In some instances, you can also use the square feet.
