මැඩමි, would have වාක්‍යයක යොදන විට "මට උවමනාව තිබුනේ කාර් එකක් මිලදි ගන්න" I would have bought a car කියන්න පුලුවන්ද.

බැහැ. මට උවමනාව තිබුනේ කාර් එකක් මිලදි ගන්න = I wanted to buy a car.
"I would have bought a car" කියන sentence එක incomplete (අසම්පූර්ණයි).
අපි හිතමු ඔයාට කාර් එකක් ගන්න ඕන උනාට සල්ලි මදි නිසා බයික් එකක් ගත්තා කියලා. එතකොට කවුරුහරි ඇහුවොත් ඇයි ඔයා කාර් එකක් වෙනුවට බයික් එකක් ගත්තේ කියලා.
එතකොට අපිට කියන්න පුළුවන් "I would have bought a car if I had more money." (මට තව සල්ලි තිබුනා නම් මම කාර් එකක් ගන්නවා).
මේ example එකේ, අතීතයේ සිදු නොවූ දෙයක් ගැන කතා කිරීමට අපි 'would have' පාවිච්චි කරන්නේ. ඒ නිසා අපි මෙය දැක්වීමට 'if' වැනි වචන භාවිතා කළ යුතුයි 😊
