Since you said having the hoverbike makes every other vehicle obsolete I have a tip for you. In the right leg depot of the construct factory there's a bunch of elevators, and if you put a stabilizer in the right spot of the railing you can take it off. It has really funky physics, and you can use it to not only upgrade the maneuverability of the hoverbike by adding one to the middle. You can also use them to make all sorts of things including flying machines with one fan, or a railjet (a flying machine that uses two fans with one being detached, but wedged in place to push one or more rails. They can reach insane speeds). They're one of the most interesting pieces I've used lately
New glitch for item duping if anyone wants to know. While gliding hold all 5 materials you want to dupe, press Y and B simultaneously and if done correctly you’ve duped it 5 times or however much you got. It doesn’t delete any items but save just in case. Have fun!
You can also do it multiple times. I do it 4 times before hitting the ground. Note: If you hear the SOUND of dropping items, you didn't press Y & B correctly.
@@D3sdinova they fly away but you can do the glitch while using the 5th sages ability and you can catch them easily before they fly if your fast enough
I farm some of those dark link weapon spots, because you can get some amazing weapons with zero effort. Gerudo Claymore for example is amazing. You'll likely have extra Silver Lynel horns pretty quickly and getting double damage for the entire life of the weapon (instead of just the last 3 hits like the royal guard one) makes it my go to weapon for regular fights, only using the royal guards for mounting lynels. Go check those out, you can get really good stuff. Even just a clean cobble crusher is useful for some mini bosses like frox or the armoured Lynel
Everybody, p l e a s e chuck a giant brightbloom seed on your hoverbike, it makes this even easier. Just make sure to hit the bike again so it doesn’t fly away
@@AustinJohnPlays I've never had it get too far... but... you could always use that handy dandy recall power to pause it as it takes off. Course not so necessary now that you've lit up the whole depths... but it is incredibly useful before then.
Btw, battery capacity just doubles over itself past 8…so if you fill up your entire battery set, you’ll get more that make your existing batteries blue as you continue.
I had basically gotten to the point where it was easier to find lightroots then it was to find shrines i used them to find a whole bunch of shrines on the surface which it also works for quest shrines too that dont ping your radar for it too which is really nice
Early game the Depths is so annoying (just with how hard enemies hit in comparison to the overworld and how it wipes your health just so easily) but mid to late game (acquiring all companions, upgrading armor and arms - which may include getting the Master Sword, all Champion weapons, and the Hylian Shield, and getting more familiar with the building system for traversal), the depths isn't as bad as it was before.
Their was 1 last one I was missing it was about as small as the one in dueling peaks and it took me 10 minutes of looking, it was the one below jochi ihiga shrine south of tarry town
one thing you can do is switch quickly between the depths map and surface map to spot any differences in shrines or lightroots. I found this super helpful in the later stages of the game when i had nearly every lightroot and shrine. only time it dosnt work is when you dont have the same shrine or lightroot.
I literally got my last lightroot this morning and thank the game for rewarding my OCD 😂 Also I've had two flying machines die on me but I was also doing the entire sky map flying with them.
Speaking of the flying vehicle... I'm still having trouble "building" it. I sometimes get the angle all wrong, or it's not in the centre when I try to stick them together and it's just... painful.
Will you be making a "XX things to do after beating the main story in totk" video ? similar to the one you did for botw, these kinds of videos are very helpful
When searching the depths have your minimal set to above ground. The depths is inverted hyrule so mountains are turned to canyons rivers are boundaries.
Protip for anyone using the hoverbike build: It gets hard to control, like you want to lower yourself or you wanna go straight up. There is no reverse, holding back goes straight up, while holding full forward makes you go forward while going down. It's like a helicopter with a slanted blade. But that's not the tip i wanted to share. Let's say you want to kill your momentum completely, like say you don't want your bike to bounce away. Exit the bike, DON'T jump off, recall on it and cancel immediately, it will become stationary when the effect ends. This goes for all creations, but I found it very useful with the bike since you're prone to getting ejected from it if you don't have room
I’ve found that your tip for finding the light roots in the depths by checking where your shrines are on the service great! It also works the other way round. Use the position of light roots to find shrines.
I would 100% say stamina. I didn't get a single health upgrade until I had all 3 rings of stamina because stamina is the most useful thing in the game. Sure survivability is cool, but you can glide, run, swim, and climb for longer when you have more stamina.
Stamina. Not only do you need it for a specific event, but just like in botw having a ton of* stamina is so beneficial when exploring. (I say get 4 hearts after every full wheel of stamina)
While I'm sure I'll get more replies, thanks to you both, in BotW I increased my health because i kept falling in pits and whatnot. But I'll go for stamina followed by 2-3 hearts per wheel
I’m glad this was 10 mins long, I was on the fence on whether I want to spoil myself on what happens when I finish the depths, but, it turns out, it is better for me to experience it myself, underwhelming or not.
Awesome job man. For people who have limited play time and want to accomplish a lot. You cater to us and I appreciate it. Not sure if that is your intention but thank you ❤
Lightroots are the roots of the shrines on the surface. So if you find a shrine on the surface then it means their is a lightroot directly beneath it in the depths. If you find a lightroot in the depths then their is a shrine above it on the surface. The topography of the depths is directly inverse of hyrule. Lakes and rivers on the surface are impassible walls in the depths and mountains on the surface are deep pits in the depths. While in the depths if you open your map and switch it to the surface it will show the surface map on your mini map. That will let you use the surface topography to navigate through the depths.
im almost 27 years old and still terrified of the dark so im definitely NOT going to be doing this until i'm at the stage where i decide to 100% the game (if i even do that) but it's still nice to know that it only takes a few hours! i've seriously only done what's "required" down there, and a couple missions i bailed out early because my anxiety became unmanageable 😭 it took me doing 3/4 regional quests to get the camera and autobuild lmao it's seriously so bad. despite that though i'm genuinely enjoying the game so far and i cant wait to beat it!

i just got my 119th last night. i only have the one in the very top right. I agree that flying machine makes this process so easy. I had used it to just go from lightroot to lightroot til i was pretty much done with all of them

Hey Austin John, i love all your videos for both Zelda and Pokemon. Thanks for everything! Could you possibly make a guide on how to deal with Armored (Yellow Bar) monsters? I cant seem to find a way to damage Lynels the same way in the depths with them being protected by that yellow bar. Thanks again for all your content!
The armor (yellow bar) breaks with hammer type weapons or explosives so get a two handed club or sword, fuse a rock or large monster horn onto it or use bomb flower arrows 1-3 hits the armor breaks and then you just defeat them normally.
Welcome to the Party Austin John, that’s how I found all of the shrines. The minute they said the shrines are connected to the light roots, I decided to find the shrines by locating the light roots, instead of hoping I get lucky on the surface.

I havent done any of the 4 main missions yet, and I'm at 113 of 120 Lightfoot and all towers uncovered, it's so weird to not immediantly rush to uncover the map in an opensorld game. Having 10 battery charges is also a great boost, and should get me through the game super easy. The fans CAN dissappear, but it takes a LOOOOOONG time. It happened once on my trek to uncover the depths.
You know, I think with the help of videos like yours, I beat the game too efficiently. It might sound weird, but hear me out. I made a B-line to get everything I wanted quickly so I really didn't explore and enjoy the world. Now I really don't have a reason to wander around because I know I'm not gonna find anything worthwhile and I'm not sure what else to play for. I am also powerful enough to basically slap my way through anything and I don't have to get creative anymore. Let's be clear, it's definitely not your fault, you were just making videos people wanted to see and I was absolutely seeking out this kind of information.
to be fair you were meant to do aerial exploration too even without the hoverbike cheese even in the surface it's easier to jump between islands to islands than walking on foot
I found 4 batteries was about the minimum you want to have for hoverbiking around the depths for all the lightroots. Sometimes I'd need to land on a mushroom, but most of the time it was the perfect amount of charge to get from one to the next.
Where did you find that Zora spear? Is it only in the depths around where Lanayru normally is or just anywhere in the depths? Legit every relevant character and civilians in key regions of hyrule and not random villages recognize Link. Its not unimagineable that eveey person in Hyrule wouldn't know who he is, its a big place. We also don't know how much time has passed either
I was desperately trying to find my missing light root and something helped me was pretty much flicking back and forth between the depths and the overworld maps and eventually I found a spot where I was missing the root. It was so hard to find otherwise
Where was it? Because Im missing one and it must be the smallest one in the game, because I can't find it lol
I found it, it was in Alkkala!
Have fun!
This sounds like it works for beetles too without them flying away
You can also do it multiple times. I do it 4 times before hitting the ground.
Note: If you hear the SOUND of dropping items, you didn't press Y & B correctly.
duplicate 300 diamonds and become rich in 30 minutes
@@D3sdinova they fly away but you can do the glitch while using the 5th sages ability and you can catch them easily before they fly if your fast enough
@@ShawnMadeInUSADuplicate large Zonai crystals and save yourself hours of farming them for max battery.
I'm always so impressed with how fast these come out. Do you still enjoy playing the games you cover even though it's rushing gameplay?
Completion and grinding and math are my favorite part of games.
@@AustinJohnPlays nice!
Everybody, p l e a s e chuck a giant brightbloom seed on your hoverbike, it makes this even easier. Just make sure to hit the bike again so it doesn’t fly away
every single time it flies away, so i stopped trying lol
@@AustinJohnPlays I've never had it get too far... but... you could always use that handy dandy recall power to pause it as it takes off. Course not so necessary now that you've lit up the whole depths... but it is incredibly useful before then.
Even if it flies i just recall it and hop on
Btw, battery capacity just doubles over itself past 8…so if you fill up your entire battery set, you’ll get more that make your existing batteries blue as you continue.
The dueling peak shrone you showed rlly saved me as i missed the depths and abovr ground shirnes
I had basically gotten to the point where it was easier to find lightroots then it was to find shrines i used them to find a whole bunch of shrines on the surface which it also works for quest shrines too that dont ping your radar for it too which is really nice
Austin John Plays is always the first resource for so many new games. You can see all the hard work and hours he put into these!!!
You can also see the genuine joy he gets from this game....stuff I could care less about brings a smile to his face.😎
Early game the Depths is so annoying (just with how hard enemies hit in comparison to the overworld and how it wipes your health just so easily) but mid to late game (acquiring all companions, upgrading armor and arms - which may include getting the Master Sword, all Champion weapons, and the Hylian Shield, and getting more familiar with the building system for traversal), the depths isn't as bad as it was before.
thats how game progression works bud
Hey Austin! I’ve been watching your videos since Sun and moon and I really enjoy your content. ❤❤❤
Either talking to or hearing from Future Austin is the best. I love those cuts
Their was 1 last one I was missing it was about as small as the one in dueling peaks and it took me 10 minutes of looking, it was the one below jochi ihiga shrine south of tarry town
Hey with the scooter thing how can you drive it straight when I stop usuing my joystick it starts rotating making me fall
one thing you can do is switch quickly between the depths map and surface map to spot any differences in shrines or lightroots. I found this super helpful in the later stages of the game when i had nearly every lightroot and shrine. only time it dosnt work is when you dont have the same shrine or lightroot.
Can you please make a tutorial for the shrine above nogukoyk lightroot I’m losing my mind and I can’t find any tutorials about it
I literally got my last lightroot this morning and thank the game for rewarding my OCD 😂
Also I've had two flying machines die on me but I was also doing the entire sky map flying with them.
Yes finally the depths I like this part of Zelda its challenging and rewarding
Speaking of the flying vehicle... I'm still having trouble "building" it. I sometimes get the angle all wrong, or it's not in the centre when I try to stick them together and it's just... painful.
Hey Austin, im not a heavy builder kind of person but that 2 fan control stick schematic saved me so much pain of walking from root too root
0:47 that’s a very… interesting shape
Will you be making a "XX things to do after beating the main story in totk" video ? similar to the one you did for botw, these kinds of videos are very helpful
I spent yesterday doing this same thing. I have 118 lightroots and you pointed out one that I know I haven't seen yet. Thanks!!!
This helped me so much, i was missing a single lighroot, and I watched through the video and I found that it was the one next to the dealing peaks
When searching the depths have your minimal set to above ground. The depths is inverted hyrule so mountains are turned to canyons rivers are boundaries.
For getting all the shrines you get an entire outfit set but completing all the light roots you just get a metal
I think the weapons respawn every blood moon, so that would likely be when it changes based on game progress
Protip for anyone using the hoverbike build:
It gets hard to control, like you want to lower yourself or you wanna go straight up.
I've done 42 shrines, I've also gotten all 120 light roots. Now I know where all the land shrines are. Time to grind
How did you get passed josha? I’m stuck there even after completing all lightroots
Professor Farnsworth: "Good News! It's a suppository."
While up to preference, is it better to increase stamina or health first in TotK?
I would 100% say stamina. I didn't get a single health upgrade until I had all 3 rings of stamina because stamina is the most useful thing in the game. Sure survivability is cool, but you can glide, run, swim, and climb for longer when you have more stamina.
Stamina. Not only do you need it for a specific event, but just like in botw having a ton of* stamina is so beneficial when exploring. (I say get 4 hearts after every full wheel of stamina)
Definitely stamina because of the amount of times I tried gliding somewhere and ran out of stamina was one too many
While I'm sure I'll get more replies, thanks to you both, in BotW I increased my health because i kept falling in pits and whatnot. But I'll go for stamina followed by 2-3 hearts per wheel
Every person you ask will say stamina. I, too, will say stamina. All 3 rings then hearts
geez, i watch you for like every nintendo game from pokemon sword and shield to totk you have helped me so much, thanks
Not sure if that is your intention but thank you ❤
my man is on the grind!! love it
Lightroots are the roots of the shrines on the surface.
Thanks for th I video, what were the armor set you used?
do the light roots also match with the shrines in the sky?
How do I get to the LightRoot that's on the Lands east of Hyrule Castle Underground. Specifically the Small Land in the east of it?
also very interested in the two under the castle. cannot seem to find a way in.
I actually like when it's medals like that because they're basically in-game achievements since the Switch doesn't have this kind of thing
Hey Austin. Can you make a video on things to do before fighting ganon or whatever happens at the end of the game because I really want to know if I'm prepared enough
Does anyone know how to get to the chasm entrance near east of Hyrule castle?
Thank you for your excellent videos. They really help an older newer gamer like myself. I spent 4 hours trying to find the Cugukaram lightroot for Marakuguc Shrine near Abandoned Eldin Mine. Tried to go multiple ways. I have the rest lit up and I still cannot find it. So frustrating! I watch your videos all the time and you always provide excellent information in a clear manner.
i just got my 119th last night. i only have the one in the very top right. I agree that flying machine makes this process so easy. I had used it to just go from lightroot to lightroot til i was pretty much done with all of them
Got this on my recommended quite literally seconds after I finished them UA-cam and Austin must really love me
One I went into the depths and learned that the lightroots and shrines were in the same locations it made finding both a lot easier.
Thank you so much for the help. How do use the latitude and longitude/other numbers on your map.
yeah your build for that flying device has saved me an INSANE amount of time in the depths
The fans do have a time limit, but it's insanely long. Basically unless you're spending hours on one build it is as good as unlimited.
I actually found the full zonite set when I had three batteries and it extended the time I could use zonite devices by a lot, now that I have max battery I barely have to land while looking for light roots or shrines.
Hey Austin. Have you completed the three kohga encounters in the depths?
Hey Austin John, i love all your videos for both Zelda and Pokemon. Thanks for everything! Could you possibly make a guide on how to deal with Armored (Yellow Bar) monsters? I cant seem to find a way to damage Lynels the same way in the depths with them being protected by that yellow bar. Thanks again for all your content!
The armor (yellow bar) breaks with hammer type weapons or explosives so get a two handed club or sword, fuse a rock or large monster horn onto it or use bomb flower arrows 1-3 hits the armor breaks and then you just defeat them normally.
@Ace of Scouse Oh okay, thanks for the help! 😁
Welcome to the Party Austin John, that’s how I found all of the shrines. The minute they said the shrines are connected to the light roots, I decided to find the shrines by locating the light roots, instead of hoping I get lucky on the surface.
Also, if you have the full miner’s armor, you rarely need to use brightbloom seeds
hey austin love your vids i was just wondering i know shrines on the ground are mirrored in the depths but is that also the case for ones in the sky islands
I like the maneuverability of the flying bike. I can weave in and out of all kinds of stuff after flying down there for a while.
Thanks Austin. I really appreciate you. Not doing that for sure. I’m currently 1 phenomena in and working on farming. I love to be OP in this game
Thanks for all the info, my dude!
Let's be clear, it's definitely not your fault, you were just making videos people wanted to see and I was absolutely seeking out this kind of information.
to be fair you were meant to do aerial exploration too even without the hoverbike cheese
even in the surface it's easier to jump between islands to islands than walking on foot
Do you know if the horse summons gear will be in game too ?
I am having having issues trying to find the entrance to the depths at Dueling Peaks... Is it a Well entrance or a cave entrance??
Can you please do a video on how you organize your stamps I've tried a system but I always forget or don't remember what I'm using for what
Austin: it doesn’t take that long
Also Austin with every shrine showing him where they are
yea, but Nagol... I just showed YOU were they are 🤯
I was looking for you thank God I found you. Missed you so much.
What did you fuse to your Master Sword to get those cool Zonai Runes on it?
I found 4 batteries was about the minimum you want to have for hoverbiking around the depths for all the lightroots. Sometimes I'd need to land on a mushroom, but most of the time it was the perfect amount of charge to get from one to the next.
I lit all the Lightroots and didn’t get this. Did I miss one?
Where did you find that Zora spear? Is it only in the depths around where Lanayru normally is or just anywhere in the depths? I've been searching for every spot (that I know of) for undecayed weapons under Lanayru and I haven't found a single one.. I really want them so I'd really appreciate it if others could tell me
