    I have never heard of or seen this breed of skunk until today. Of course it's cute, but every time I learn about a "new" species, I'm overwhelmed with a sense of uncertainty. It's getting to the point where I'm noticing effects throughout my every day life. Most recently, the bulk spice aisle of my local supermarket. I found a municipal container of orange powder with the text, "TUMERIC" printed in all caps originally on a DYMO label. Someone used a ballpoint pen and squeezed a lower case 'r' between the U and M. At first I laughed, because it was tumeric when I learned about it. Anyways, I wouldn't say I worry about the effects, but I do allocate a lot of brain power to thinking about them, and I cannot ignore them like I could at first.

    I am 54 year old and when I was a kid a family of skunks moved in under our home . They had white spots no strips. My dad explained to me there are several different skunks. The one with strip were just more common. I grew up in California

    Your spotted skunks are adorable! I have a family of skunks that dug a big den under my shed and last May, (2020), the baby skunks started to venture out and they are the cutest things you’ve ever seen! Not spotted, just black and white striped, perfectly marked, and they’re beautiful! I’ve been putting food out for the raccoons, possums, feral cats, and skunks for years and last year, it seems the skunks moved in under my shed permanently, so they now have a very safe place. I usually make 8 plates of pecans, walnuts, hazel nuts, almonds, pb & jelly sw’s, tuna or roast chicken, cut-up apples or bananas or other fruits & veggies, food that’s edible bc in the winter the food freezes right away. In the summer, I make them 4-6 scrambled eggs w/ butter for the skunks and they love scrambled eggs! They eat the eggs first! I get eggs for only 29 cents a dozen. You can’t beat that. The feral cats come right away, gobble up some of the tuna and some of the eggs or chicken, and then they take off when raccoons, possums and skunks come 2 minutes later and they all eat together. It’s amazing the skunks, raccoons and possums all get along. In the morning, the plates are clean and not a crumb is left! It’s the clean plate club! Sometimes the raccoons don’t show up for dinner bc they’re eating at the neighbors and my one neighbor puts out spaghetti or lasagna, so apparently the raccoons prefer that! 😂 I should post a video from my camera trail that I strap to the tree or the fence but the camera doesn’t work very well when it’s too bitter cold outside. I also shovel a path for them and clear some of the snow out from the holes at the bottom of the fence so they can get around in the winter, but sometimes the skunks do not show up for the food. They may be in torpor, but the feral cats, raccoons, and possums always come to eat. Good video, thanks. Happy Easter 🐣🐇 and Happy Spring 🌷

    I encountered one in the Grand canyon. I was asleep and I awoke to something sniffing my head. I thought it was my friends small dog so I yelled its name.when I turned my head I saw a spotted skunk running away. They were attracted to the mice in the campground 1974. We have lots of large striped skunks in S. Arizona, not as cute.

    Another animal that has existed in my reality, but I thought there was only one species? I know that people keep skunks as pets, but the scent glands have to be removed because they DO spray if startled or threatened.

    • @AffectedCollective
      @AffectedCollective  7 років тому +3

      +ElveeKaye These guys give the little dance alert, though! They don't usually spray until after the stomping, the handstanding & the walking around on their hands has failed more than twice or so ( from what I've read, anyway lol). One interesting article I found, though... lemme see if I can get u a link... It was about how the species (it only mentions two, I believe...) were separated by a mountain due to the ice age. It was actually how I came across the little cuties.... Forced evolution due to severe climate-change.

I've been studying this stuff for decades (retired from msm) and what I know would probably keep you up for at least a decade but it doesn't scare me or make me angry anymore. once you get over the initial shock that the world is not what you think it is, or run with any amount of compassion - the initial fear and anger becomes - okay so now what are we going to do about it?!

    Remember Pepe le Pew, the Warner. Brothers cartoon skunk who was in love with the black cat? He was just striped and made his first TV appearance in 1945.. So the common knowledge of what a skunk looked like was striped. Google or UA-cam search his image . I've never heard of a spotted skunk in North America lol and any skunk that I've ever seen living in the country was always striped.

      @AffectedCollective  7 років тому +6

      +S. DeGraff Please don't misunderstand me, my friend. I'm not trying to "package" anything- heck, I'm not that organized to even attempt such a feat! Hahaa, but I do feel an increasing sense of importance to get this info across CLEARLY, and that comes AFTER THE HOURS OF DOUBLE CHECKING RESEARCH to get my facts straight. More importantly, it is quite taxing to me when my Videos upset people due to a failure of communication on my part. We are approaching one of the most significant events in human history, and I cannot with good heart take that lightly.... This has taken quite a toll on my own relationships with my family. Particularly recently, they are unable to comprehend why I would spend any time at all on "talking to strangers." I guess I no longer consider any human being strange anymore. We're brethren. Much love ❤️
      NOTE: Lol, I was gonna end that with a less-serious note by saying "Sooo... are ya gonna buy me that spotted skunk now or what, my brethren?" but now I've gone all super" meta" now with it lolol... And don't worry... I'm always workin on about 5-8 videos at a time... there will be a grant rolling out of many very soon.... Packaged by request only lol jk much love I'm shutting up now 😉😇🤠🤣😂😎🤓😊😄🎸❤️

    Common for skunks to do handstands as a warning before they spray. Nocturnal so lousy as pets and if they can't spray (have glands removed but still smell bad) they have no way to defend themselves. Nasty to use them as pets and take them away from their families, make them live in isolation, they're not toys for amusing ppl.

    We farmed hundreds of acres all over the Pacific Northwest. Dozens of times our dogs got sprayed and sadly dozens if not a hundred skunks got run over by vehicles. Once they dried at stopped smelling, we removed them.. ALWAYS the skunks I saw looked like the original Pepe LE Pew - one white stripe down the middle of his black body. Love how you show the happy uplifting mandela effects.

      In Ohio, we have both the spotted skunks and what we call striped skunks (to which you refer). The spotted skunks have a better disposition and are rarer, at least in these parts.

    They kinda dont make good pets...at first it seems like it...but if you discipline them you better watch out...like keep your jugular vein protected. They are very very smart.

    Never heard of the spotted skunk! I got a good one for you... my dad was watching golf one day and the camera man zoomed in on one of these... mask faced fox squirrel, as big as a cat with creepy paws and claws! I'll say it again.. WHERE AM I? lol a spotted skunk really? first the dual stripped one and now this. Does the single stripe skunk still exist? Poor Pépe Le Pew 😕 You know it was written that animals and creatures would appear in our reality during this time, new ones and ones from old(extinct). It was said the opposite would happen to the ones that exist in our present reality. Anyways great video and I hope you're doing well 🙂✌🏻

      Salted Seeder they striped one cones in one white stripe down center of back or two spaced / the tiny one with spots or mottled look were called civet cats and carried rabies / when my mother was a child in Texas she could not have a dog because of the civet cats and rabies . Her big brother pretended to be her dog . She spoke fondly of him in her old age " her poo dog .

    Yes, there are SPOTTED skunks and they must not be that rare because I've only seen a few skunks ever and one was spotted. He used to raid the garbage outside a rural bar in PA. He was GORGEOUS!
