"The Clique" has been a rumor in Nijisanji for awhile now and lo and behold Elira and her drug-addled MANheras made a video shaming Selen for "betraying" their trust.
The song is about a girl who was bullied until she attempted suicide, *sung from the perspective of the bully.* Narcissists are prone to thinking they're too intelligent to ever be found out so they will often flaunt their disgusting behavior in subtle ways.

Day 365 of 365 Today marks the day of listening to Shoujo Rei for over a year and leaving at least 365 comments. I really don't know what to say since when I started, I didn't have a plan or really a reason to do this. It started off as a sort of day to day comment and then devolved into emojis lol Really, I didn't think I'd stick it out and there were days I'd forget to leave a comment (hence the month difference from when I started to now) but once I committed, I felt like I had to finish no matter what. The first time I heard Elira sing it, I was blown away. I loved her voice, and it just seemed to fit the song so perfectly. The softness, the sweetness, the kindness, the sadness. After waiting for a long time, an official cover is finally here, and I love it so so so much.
Thank you, Elira Pendora, for this amazing 1 year, and for always singing to us this song. In my heart, this song will always remind me of you.
When I first dipped my toes into NijiEN, I was only doing so out of mild curiousity.. but when I found Elira and watched her, I found myself being drawn to her more and more. That draw was profound thanks in large part to her singing, which is something she prided herself in from the very beginning.
Along with so many others, I was completely captivated by her singing when she held her first karaoke stream. Despite her nerves, it was so clear and obvious how amazing her talent was in singing. There's something about her voice that is so clear, refreshing, and energetic, and her silly but earnest personality really cemented her as my favorite from then on.
Shoujo Rei was initially just a random karaoke song choice from her love for Vocaloid songs (she's since mentioned it's probably her favorite song), but over time it became evident how perfectly her voice fit it. The song itself is quite deceptive in that it gives an initial impression of being an upbeat summer sound, but the more you pay attention to it (and if you read the lyrics), the more you'll find it is quite an emotional, tragic one. The chorus itself has a melody that evokes a strong sense of melancholy and yearning, and the way Elira sings its high notes makes you really feel those emotions.
It was only during her second karaoke stream that she first sang Shoujo Rei (or maybe it was during an unarchived?).. She's revisited the song for pretty much every karaoke stream since, in no small part because of how strongly her audience responded to her performance of it.. and it's really no surprise, because she sings it absolutely perfectly every time.
In my heart, the definitive version of Shoujo Rei belongs to Elira.
