As someone who lives in the US, I can tell you that after the failed coupe, an intense campaign of anti Erdogan propaganda started in the US. Which led me to believe that the US was, if not behind the coupe, at least supported it. The propaganda has been so intense that when I speak to my American friends the all say that they hate Erdogan but when I them ask why, the can't come up with a good answer.

I was watching this live during the coup and on the following days, praying for the people of Turkiye to have victory over the enemies of Islam and Muslims, both inside Turkiye and their instigators in the West. Alhamdulillah, it was a decisive victory.

It wants to keep good relations with the west and USA so that they don't all start offering full support to India, but it also wants to be active in the region and not allow Anti Pakistani elements to succeed in Afghanistan and Kashmir, so it also has to support militants. During the Cold War, this was okay since the US was doing the same, but since the war on terror, it has become progressively harder. Plus, Pakistan is rarely stable itself. The military insists on influencing the country because it still thinks it can competently rule Pakistan, but always ends up destabilizing the country in the process. Powerful and rich families utilize this opportunity and seize the government by buying out the parliament. But Military also can't be dismissed, because of India, rebels and terrorist groups frequently trying to undermine the country.

The military should be held accountable for any wrongdoing. It experiments it's direct, authoritarian and brutal ideologies on the nation and then when they destroy it, they take a step back and punish a scapegoat and avoid all blame. Yahya Khan and Tikka Khan were never held accountable for losing bengal or commiting a massacre, they instead used AK Fazlul Haq as a scapegoat and had him take the blame for losing the war.
