I have the 2007 Docksider set with 3 beautiful freight cars and a smoking engine with choo choo sounds. Gilbert produced the S gauge and the style of American Flyer Trains. Lionel improved the mechanics but it's still Gilbert, you did not mention that. Lionel is producing greàt original Gilbert American Flyer Trains.
My Grandfathers train set is my earliest memory at this point, I was addicted to it as a kid. I got my first Lionel set when I was like 5 or 6 and built a decent collection from there. It's an amazing hobby. 😁🏁
I just bought that set for myself I haven't opened it up yet because I really don't have room to set the track up.. When I'm through doing a little remodeling then I'll build the temporary table to put it on. Be sure to put up a video of your layout when you're building it.
Yeah, that's really the only thing it doesn't have, but I guess the just didn't have room for the smoke unit and the bluetooth components inside this small boiler housing. Maybe I can add a smoke unit at some point. 😁🏁
All the Gilbert American Flyer Trains had good packaging and weight. Lionel just improved the packaging but in the 80s and 90s Lionel did not do that. Not much proteçtion used then.
It looks to me like a Lionel Just used the same car as the original American flyer by A.C. Gilbert CB&Q dump car. I think a lot of of us guys resent the insinuation that original A.C Gilbert equipment was not good quality.
Good starter set 👍
Thanks for watching man! 😁🏁

I'm going to, I can talk about trains all day lol! I've got a few more pieces coming now so I can get the basic layout setup going. 😁🏁
