They are more often destroyed by people trying and succesfully ripping out the mini figs. I remember seeing this exact display in a Walmart with the two top to rows and one bottom row mini figs ripped out.

I work in retail. If you are lucky you can sneak away with a display. Have a really cool team, manager, etc. But it is 100% against SOP, and punishable if found out. Hence why employee's cant always save them, with a strict crew you could be canned right away.
The luckiest I have definitely never ever gotten to save was a display for Super Mario Princess Peaches Castle. So unfortunate I definitely wasnt able to save it.

I have 2, 2 foot tall Lego "minifigures" that my mom brought me home from the Toys-R-us she used to work at 25 years ago. One in a construction worker. The other is a pirate captain, they're worth so much money, but I can't bring myself to sell them
In the UK we have Smyths Toys (basically like how Toys R Us used to be) and they clearly build the models up their selves, I've seen a few build badly which proves this.
Such a waste of resources if it’s only gonna be destroyed at the end of the year or whenever they’re on shelves. But Lego is so environmentally conscious right guys???

My sister works for target and takes them home all the time. Only the ones she cares about but she’s got basically the entire Harry Potter collection for free from that. Now I just need them to display the Hogwarts castle 😂😂😂
I gotta find a case like that. I bet I could get the glue off somehow, and if I got it for a good price, I'd have a really good deal for all those figures! I could get obi wan, Anakin, Vader, the emperor, and Grievous all for fairly cheap!
