I just did the Annapurna Circuit. The change is huge and tourism has changed the nature of these villages. The village of Barak looks completely unrecognisable. Thanks for this footage in winters/spring.

    Thank you, Paul O’Connor !!
Felt very good to see my grand-mother, my village, my people and the way of life at that time. I only heard through my parents that how wonderful and difficult at the same time the village life was . I am very thankful to you as now I can witness with my own eyes .Please keep uploading!!
    God bless !

Orche Tshungta for your reply. I’m glad you enjoyed the film. Everything has 2 sides so your comment about the wonderful and difficult aspect of traditional life in a harsh landscape such as the Himalayan rain shadow.. is very true!

Nostalgia! I walked the full circuit from Dhumre to Pokhara in 1984 and 1986. That is what the place was really like. Now ruined by the road and us tourists. Thank you for the memories, time to dust the slide projector...

Hi Anna, yes those houses are all still standing. The Manang valley ( Nyeshyang) was unaffected by the big earthquake....however quite a few of the Manangi’s filmed have passed on ... cheers Paul
