All the lightsaber choreography in the Ashoka series is childish, these are not supposed to be just any old people who have just picked up a lightsaber, these are supposed to be absolute masters of lightsaber combat. This is what they perfected in the prequels. It showed sheer speed and agility of people who had put thousands and thousands of hours into using that weapon. In live action Disney Shite Wars they look so unbelievably mediocre it hurts me to watch.

@@fktheproducerno, the fights in the prequels are laughable. The ones in ahsoka aren't perfect but at least nobody is waving their glowstick around like Yoda and anakin did in the prequels. Absolutely embarrassing
I think the point with the "do you want to live" thing was that Ashoka had cheated death not once, but twice, being miraculously resurrected both times and being the first character to be canonically revived as their original self I'm pretty sure (but not the last...). She'd also had her worldview shattered between witnessing the horrors of war, being dealt a bad hand by the Jedi Order she once devoted her life to, and watching her master become a monster and ultimately dying at his hands. Had the beginning of the show presented her as grappling with some sort of PTSD or existential crisis given her history (and reminding us of it as well), this could've worked well here, but no, they just threw in this relatively meaningless subplot out of nowhere in a vain attempt to give her otherwise flat character in this miniseries some semblance of an arc, while falling back on the one trick that seems to consistently work for them-nostalgia baiting.
The worst part is the people calling this good. I bet you could put a dog turd in a hotdog bun on a paper plate with a Star Wars logo on it and they would call it fine dining.
That's how Disney makes stuff. They shoot a lot of scenes then attempt to stitch together a story in the editing room. It really shows in the end product. You get plot holes, bad pacing and a lack of clear direction to the plot. George Lucas had a strong vision of the story that he wanted to tell. That's art. It's a communication between the creator and the audience. Disney just crap out some "content". Their arrogance is gross as well. They feel that they have the talent to rewrite Star Wars lore? I'd say they have delusions of competence.
@@TemalCageman fr even if someone tried to kill Jacen Chopper would’ve nuked them he was fully ready to potentially kill hundreds of people earlier in the show and has canonically killed multiple people in Rebels.
@@yleyatarn Yeah he was Leia and Han Solo’s son. Didn’t they have twins or something? Also I’m pretty sure Dave Filoni said he named Hera’s son that on purpose to “pay respects” to legends after Disney removed it from canon.
True. But the references to Revenge of the Sith make a vital point: Because CW essentially depicts Anakin as having a different personality, the supermajority of people who only watch the movies won’t think this depiction is accurate. And I doubt it was *hoped* for movie-only fans to skip this too. I preferred Anakin in CW… but having a clear preference only highlights how inconsistent the character was. Trying to fix things in a show is understandable, but it will inevitably mean the huge film audience doesn’t now about the fixes. Overall, this whole situation just has me sad. It’s like, the people making Star Wars *might* care about Star Wars, or they *might* be great at storytelling in a vast connected universe, but hardly any of them have both of those requirements.
I believe that Ahsoka was having a vision on the brink of death, a NDE if you will. Hence the flashbacks from her past experiences. Should she lose to Anakin she would die in real world. So she had to win. However I don't know what the lesson was. This episode was a massive fan service for the Clone Wars watchers.
She lost her way and purpose (I'm not a jedi) friends (the clones, the jedi, anakin) and blames herself for all of it. Now she just roams the galaxy in the ship without any real cause or reflection. Anakin opens her eyes to see more than her failures and the many loved ones left behind. Live or die means keep moving forward or let the past consume you
Ashoka has always been a strong girl boss since her debut, she was created to try and get girls into SW when the EU already had a metric ton of better female characters, several of which like barris offee where ruined by TCW.
@@mattarmendariz4499 no it wasn't, we got to see her "in the light and in action" in the original clone wars comics and she didn't fall to the dark side either, she was a respectable jedi who was about anakin's age originally but filoni (and maybe Lucas) decided to age her down so she could be either a friend or love interest for ashoka.
There is a lot of subtext. Anakin and ahsoka are similar people. She cares and so does anakin. Even though she connected to the...force through the divine sister or mother or whatever that doesn't mean she isn't susceptible to the dark side. It is also a reminder of the things that drove anakin to the Darkseid. The clinical nature and arrogance of the jedi order is what led them to their downfall and she is repeating that same mistake with Sabine. She needs to trust her padawan and nurture her.
It wasn't completely distracting in the more sensible old days when all the main characters were humans, and the side characters were robots and walking dogs. I think Filoni is exactly like Lucas actually; he has good ideas, but without a team filtering them and making them come to life...his creations become a dumpster fire. It's clear Filoni can't write or direct for shit. But his ideas worked when he was on the Clone Wars team surrounded by other talented people who also had ideas
@@thomasbrown3793 exactly. When George Lucas had unlimited control he created the prequels, and while I don’t believe they are completely without merit, they are certainly a far cry from the originals where he was more restrained by a team curbing his impulses.
Looking back at Disneys track record, they have a very strange habit of making stories revolving around a boring cast trying to find the more interesting character. All their stories revolve around “the story is not good now, but it will be when we find X”. It’s the story telling equivalent of a battle pass. “If I just hold out for the more interesting thing to arrive I will be satisfied”. Why don’t they just start out with the more interesting idea, rather than MacGuffin hunting for 3 seasons/films just for something interesting to happen later
You see that would make sense but that involves critical thinking and work which none of them want to do. They just want to be lazy and make money off of people who will take anything Star Wars.
Dear sir, I have the same issue with your mother. She pertains to say that she is an absolute whore, but that I need to hold out for her. A very confusing state of affairs. I did try to hold out for her, but one fateful evening broke the camels back. She laid her pomegranate bare and asked me to go where many men have been before. Since I am a pure person I had to ask myself if I was capable of defiling this woman. And I did! Sir I shagged your mum.
That’s the main issue of this show. I watched both the clone wars and rebels, so all of this makes sense. Ahsoka has been in the world between worlds once already. She’s already had all of her character development over the last like 15 years. But anyone who isn’t caught up with that won’t understand what’s going on or why anything is important in this show. Although I fully think her not reacting to anakin and suddenly getting the ability to sense echos in the force is contrived and weird alike.
Even if you’ve seen Clone Wars and Rebels, this plot still is so poorly written. I grew up with Clone Wars and thoughts some of Rebels was solid, but this story is laughably bad. Ahsoka’s arc ended in Rebels - her story should be a noble sacrifice to save some of her friends, but now she just continues into this state of limbo with no real purpose.
@@jakemitchell6578That's exactly why I think this show should've been about her and Luke. The rebels should be cameos if anything but she was supposed to move on from that. Yea her having ZERO questions or disbelief at seeing Anakin was really confusing to me. I loved the episode for the member berries not gonna lie. But the plot surrounding it has always been contrived
Even I watched all the cartoons, I think Ahsoka aged very bad. She is stiff, annoying, lifeless, and weaker. But there is worse in this show, the plot is forced and there are many stupid scenes, I mean really awkward nonsense.
Ahsoka would never win a fight against Anakin or Vader. Even if he was fighting without an arm. The fact that she won really says something about the pedestal she has been put on by Filoni. Don't get me wrong, I loved Ahsoka in Rebels and Clone Wars. But this is just ridiculous.
@TemalCageman Obi won (hehe) by tossing a bunch of boulders at Vader. How is that similar? Even if he did, though, Obi Wan is much more skilled than Ahsoka.
@@aidanforman5950 Even that was unbelievable…because Obi Wan barely beat Vader in RotS due to being more experienced and taking advantage of Anakin making a mistake. He never would’ve overpowered Vader … but that’s exactly what he was depicted as doing in Obi Wan.
Correction: *Disney* *Wars* is dead. The corporation's ability to make money off of this brand is dead. Star Wars is 6 movies and several decades worth of expanded universe stories. Star Wars, because of the fans, will never die. And that's part of why Disney Wars is doing so badly, compare to the real thing everybody can tell it's a knockoff, the more time passes, the more people pick up on that. Far from being dead, Star Wars is alive and well enough to hurt the mouse every step of the way as they try to further their own (failed) version of the franchise. My two cents anyways. 🎯 I don't think Anakin being in it saved it at all; I don't think the scenes he was in did his character, or the actor, any justice. Way to CGI heavy, I mean I don't get the point of "live action" if it's still going to look like a cartoon. Did it look cool compared to the rest, particularly because Hayden Christensen knows how to move with a lightsaber? Sure. Did it actually look that cool though? Not really. For me, all the positives of his performance were distracted from by all of the over-the-top visuals, and as far as how he looked, I thought it was pretty stupid. Especially when he went dark, and his lightsaber became a mood ring. They couldn't even get the sith eyes right! His eyes looked more red than yellow. On top of that, entirety of his appearance was filler, nothing meaningful or substantial happened, could have cut it ALL out and it wouldn't have fundamentally changed anything about the story being presented in this show. Imho anyone pretending this Anakin stuff was awesome, is trying too hard too come off as reasonable so when the Disney fans call you names for not liking the show overall, you can point out how reasonable you're being. Two problems though: one is they don't care, they're going to call you names anyways, and the other is that gushing over this Anakin stuff ISN'T reasonable, it was crap. What's ACTUALLY reasonable, is saying so. Watching this cameo, I'm reminded of every other attempt Disney has made to adapt cartoons into live action. Which is to say, I feel about this more or less the same as I feel about The Lion King. It's awful. And the plot STILL sucks balls.
Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing about the eyes. Why the heck were they red? Also, in the last flashback you can tell that it takes place in the last few episodes of the Clone Wars series, which means, correct me if I'm wrong, Ahsoka was a young adult by then. But for some reason her voice sounds like a fetching 8 year old....
@@birons3708 she was 17? Then why did she look and sound like she was 8? Is it because Disney is infested with pedos and groomers, perhaps, and they just couldn't resist making her look younger? One thing i think you're wrong about : yes Anakin is arrogant and always has been but no, it's not stupid for him to have a apprentice. If I remember correctly the decision came from the Jedi Council itself to try to make him grow and be more mature. But it was clever because Ahsoka also was arrogant and impatient. They were a perfect fit for each other, Anakin was responsible for her and had to see his own reflection when looking at her, forcing him to become wiser. To some extent, it worked. In Episode III he was more calm and reasonable when he didn't feel like his future with Padme was threatened, yet being insecure. The Council and especially Mace Windu didn't trust him and that is a huge part of why he turned in the end. They failed him when they gave the order to spy on Palpatine, he was lost and confused and they should have cared more about that. If Ahsoka had been there, maybe things would have been different, they were an incredible team as Master and Padawan. But the Council also failed her so... Maybe he was arrogant, but maybe the Council was too. But other than that ye the writing is horrendous

But she has no impact on the Skywalker story.
So, the clone wars (Which was made by Lucas) plays into why Anakin dislikes the Jedi Council, because they distrusted Anakin's padawan and treated her with suspicion believing she was a terrorist before she quit the jedi order and left, which seriously affected Anakin, His padawan was an anchor for his emotions, and her loss played into his fears of abandonment.
@NoBody-pw3kf Uh huh. Still doesn't change the fact that Clone Wars was made by George Lucas, making it Canon, and what I described is exactly what happens in the Clone Wars.
"[Ahsoka] doesn't have any flaws, shortcomings or regrets to overcome." I've been saying exactly the same thing. The whole point of Anakin's lesson should be him helping her to overcome a fatal character flaw, but she doesn't *have* one -- at least not one that's clearly illustrated via her actions in this show. Therefore the meaning of the lesson is confusing and we the audience aren't sure how Ahsoka is meant to have changed and evolved when it ends.
@@mattarmendariz4499I did watch The Clone Wars. And Rebels. They're irrelevant. This show should be able to stand on its own merits. It should clearly establish what Ahsoka's major flaw/hangup is before her encounter with Anakin, and it doesn't.

Ever since Ahoska was introduced, it always felt as forced. Especially after you just watched Episode 3. Almost as if Filoni wanted to shove his OC into the lore
She was meant to die by the end of TCW and cause Anakin to further spiral into arrogance and resentment. George was on his way out, he didn't care as much anymore, so Filoni had his way in the end and she lived. @@prodigalsonofsunsAnd even then, that one fight against Vader in Rebels should have ended with her dying. But nope, Filoni had to ruin her arc, by literally putting timetravel in a Star Wars story.
Whilst your questions are valid most of the questions you have were already established in the Clone Wars and Rebels shows, Ahsoka is a continuation of those shows.
F that time travel garbage there's a reason why filoni established it a few episodes away from ending the show it's the most asinine thing in star wars.
But isn't that where she learned to accept that what was past can't be changed, and all you could do is the present? She shouldn't now act like someone still burdened by the Skywalker/Vader legacy. It's not clear what Filoni wants her epiphany to be. She doesn't fit the profile of the atoner, because it's not her committing atrocities and sins. She doesn't fit the profile of the pacifist, for while she may have seen friends die and the cycle of conflict end and restart, she still kills bad guys because her convictions didn't waver. She isn't suicidal or withdrawn by lack of motivation. This is what happens when you don't establish your character Filoni. Even the ridiculous burning of Obi-Wan had a clear start and end point of the broken man.
The only part I disagree with is when you say about Anakin shouldn't have an apprentice and all that about it after but the point of Ashoka being his apprentice was to bring out that patient and loving side of Anakin so that when she left the order in the Clone Wars it laid even more grief onto him leading him further towards the dark side.
I get you but I think he meant from a realistic standpoint I don't think the Jedi Council would've ALLOWED someone as fiery as Anakin to take on a Padawan. It isn't really about ability, after all. Even though it's the standard for Jedi practice to do all that I do personally think that the Council realistically wouldn't have given him a Padawan, hence why the movies never did so. Don't get me wrong I like The Clone Wars overall but it's obviously stretching the canon/lore quite a bit in its episodes (a lot of episodes). I'm kind of impartial, I don't mind TCW Ahsoka but live action version is... ugh. It certainly would've been simpler had Ahsoka never been Anakin's padawan from a storytelling perspective, though. That, and now it'd be easier to follow as an audience member if it never happened too since Disney can't seem to follow their own timelines at all.

That's how Disney makes stuff. They shoot a lot of scenes then attempt to stitch together a story in the editing room. It really shows in the end product. You get plot holes, bad pacing and a lack of clear direction to the plot. George Lucas had a strong vision of the story that he wanted to tell. That's art. To be faaair. Anakin's character is very different in clone wars compared to ep III and here he seems to display that CW's attitude

@@delta2372 how were they ruined if that was the first time we see characters like barris in the light and in action

Nah... he is just a sad and bitter person.
Definitely not
I know people keep saying that Filoni was hand-picked by Lucas and all, and I should STFU, but if Star Wars has thought me one thing is that sometimes good people are bad teachers. And, from what I can see from Filoni without standing on Lucas' shoulder is that he learned all the wrong lessons.
George Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney to spite the fans who disliked his crumby prequel movies. George Lucas is evil.
@@thomasbrown3793he literally has 0 ideas, only copying other movies and inserting his wet dreams of a jailbait alien girl
@@thomasbrown3793 exactly. When George Lucas had unlimited control he created the prequels, and while I don’t believe they are completely without merit, they are certainly a far cry from the originals where he was more restrained by a team curbing his impulses.
Is there any verifiable proof of this theory that Lucas personally taught him?
Looking back at Disneys track record, they have a very strange habit of making stories revolving around a boring cast trying to find the more interesting character.
All their stories revolve around “the story is not good now, but it will be when we find X”.
It’s the story telling equivalent of a battle pass. “If I just hold out for the more interesting thing to arrive I will be satisfied”. Why don’t they just start out with the more interesting idea, rather than MacGuffin hunting for 3 seasons/films just for something interesting to happen later
You see that would make sense but that involves critical thinking and work which none of them want to do. They just want to be lazy and make money off of people who will take anything Star Wars.

episode was great, stop whining.
Aniken felt so wrong he felt like a completly different character
Even I watched all the cartoons, I think Ahsoka aged very bad. She is stiff, annoying, lifeless, and weaker. But there is worse in this show, the plot is forced and there are many stupid scenes, I mean really awkward nonsense.
I am now utterly convinced that this series script was composed by AI. It's nothing but 'remember when X'.

Correction: *Disney* *Wars* is dead. The corporation's ability to make money off of this brand is dead. Star Wars is 6 movies and several decades worth of expanded universe stories. Did it look cool compared to the rest, particularly because Hayden Christensen knows how to move with a lightsaber? Sure.
Did it actually look that cool though?

Why is bro not make appearance till the 3rd to last episode in the season! And again. He is nothing like his rebels era. This show is all kinds of whack decisions.
I never agreed with World between worlds in rebels and to see it here again is laughable. Again just a overused device to try to write the story right. But even this show can’t remember its own establishments. Like sabine had a memory wipe or something she quit painting lost all her armor like she’s against her heritage all of a sudden All that training with kanan to become Mandalorian and Jedi … YOU DONT REMEMBER ANY OF THAT LOL!
Not only do they have the scan and the witness, but also at least 2 destroyed ships AND MORE WITNESSES
Well…Ahsoka was in the World Between Worlds before. In Rebels, Ezra got into the WBW and saved Ahsoka from dying to Vader so she is familiar with it.
Other people familiar with Rebels point out that things are consistent, IF you have watched that series. They really should have made this as another animated season of Rebels -- the live action spin suggests that it is to draw in a new audience, who will expect an explanation of past events.
@@jdraven0890 yea one of the main problems with the Ahsoka show is that it instantly flips off fans who never watched the animated shows. They didn't give a recap or anything at all

@@birons3708 still doesn’t change the fact that it doesn’t make sense, I’m 24 so I was a child when clone wars came out on Cartoon Network and the reason I dropped it is because they made anakin have a lame apprentice and to this day idk how people just bought fell for ahsoka. Everything with her in it feels fake
@@UnderratedMan1 I haven't even seen the cartoons, but is it actually explained that it makes sense? Because in EP3 Anakin wants to be a master.
Honestly I'm just happy to have more Anakin footage for edits and possible sigma male rules
ok this time i disagree. clone wars really did handle/show anakin as a master/teacher very well without destroying the character
You people are so hypnotized by that show you still can't realize that Ahsoka's existence in Star Wars is ultimately meaningless and it really shows. If she vanished from Star Wars literally nothing in that story would change.
@@Vespyr_gripe harder pessimist.
@@lolcats987654321 He's right, clown. Ahsoka is completely irrelevant.
@@lolcats987654321 I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just saying she already HAD a very limited arc, and whatever that was it ended with Anakin. That's why they have to exhume him in spirit form, to make Ahsoka even WORK as a character but that's ultimately the ONLY interesting thing about Ahsoka. Is her relationship with a Skywalker. But she has no impact on the Skywalker story.
@@Vespyr_That's fine, we love being hypnotized. Cause unlike you, we're not "dumbassess" 🙄😒.
WHEN I SAW THE CLONE WARS IN THIS EPISODE I CLAPPED. I REMEMBERED THAT
So, the clone wars (Which was made by Lucas) plays into why Anakin dislikes the Jedi Council, because they distrusted Anakin's padawan and treated her with suspicion believing she was a terrorist before she quit the jedi order and left, which seriously affected Anakin, His padawan was an anchor for his emotions, and her loss played into his fears of abandonment.
@NoBody-pw3kf Uh huh. Still doesn't change the fact that Clone Wars was made by George Lucas, making it Canon, and what I described is exactly what happens in the Clone Wars.
That's not what Ahsoka wore during the Clone Wars and you know it, Dave!
Well, it does look alot like her 2nd clone wars outfit.
Therefore the meaning of the lesson is confusing and we the audience aren't sure how Ahsoka is meant to have changed and evolved when it ends.
someone didnt watch clone wars lol
@@mattarmendariz4499I did watch The Clone Wars. And Rebels. They're irrelevant.
This show should be able to stand on its own merits. It should clearly establish what Ahsoka's major flaw/hangup is before her encounter with Anakin, and it doesn't.
@@DavidM_10 ok then you could say the same thing about the original trilogy. people like you praise it so much but it should have been able to stand alone aswell without the prequels but george still made them didnt he?
@@mattarmendariz4499 The original trilogy does stand on its own merits, narratively. It provides all of the information necessary for its characters and scenes to make sense.
George made the prequels to expand on the story, but they're not *required* in order to enjoy the originals.

She is his writer's pet, his OC, his self insert, all those things... so he wants her to replace Luke as the face of SW.
@@prodigalsonofsunsthat’s stupid 😢😒
She is the most shoehorned character to ever shoehorned.
@@prodigalsonofsunsAnd even then, that one fight against Vader in Rebels should have ended with her dying. But nope, Filoni had to ruin her arc, by literally putting timetravel in a Star Wars story.
@@SammEater That doesn't ruin her arc. It ruins all of Star Wars.
Whilst your questions are valid most of the questions you have were already established in the Clone Wars and Rebels shows, Ahsoka is a continuation of those shows.
2:40 to be fair, Ashoka was saved by Ezra in one of the final episodes of rebels where they both learn what the world between worlds is
And now we all have to watch Rebels to understand this shit 😅
@@luciankresovic8265 Yes. 😊
@@luciankresovic8265well yeah? This is pretty much rebels season 5 so ofc
Being incompetent is part of the job! 👌😄😂
Yeah this reviewer does sound incompetent
@@matthewcarroll2533
Wasn’t the point of Ashoka being Anakin’s apprentice just a roundabout way of Yoda trying to teach Anakin about attachments? Anakin would essentially raise his own foster-sibling, until one day he has to learn to let go of her as she becomes a Jedi in her own right. The Jedi Council completely f’ed that up because not only were they the ones who pushed her out, they pushed her out when Anakin still wasn’t ready to let go AND it was because of their erroneous judgement. No wonder Anakin doesn’t think highly of the Council lol.
Yoda: “Let’s take this emotionally vulnerable guy who has difficulties with abandoning or letting go because his mom is a slave and he had to abandon her for a better life, and let’s never address this trauma ever.”
Mace Windu: “I’m listening…”
Yoda: “Have him get super-attached to someone, foster a parental and protective disposition over this other person…”
Mace Windu: “Yes?”
Yoda: “Then f*cking yank it from him.”
(Edit: Mace is probably like-
Mace: “Ah, yes. And I’ll continue to try and alienate him because our lessons aren’t sticking and we aren’t trying to adapt the lesson plan for him to understand, only furthering his cynicism towards us! I love it.”)
It was more about adding Fuel to the Fire. Ahsokas “Trial” by the Jedi was a kangaroo court and the Jedi threw her away like trash after seeing how the Jedi treat ahsoka Anakin has a Reason to hate them
Made zero sense to have Anakin as a master. Stop defending bad writing.
