    Grave Mind & High Charity are the actual scariest levels of Halo 2 when you realize that in the background, far off-camera, literally billions of sentient/sapient civilians are getting killed and infected by the flood in mass while you're trying to make due on your mission. You're literally watching one of the, in-universe, greatest losses of life in (in-universe) history unfold before your eyes.

      For a few years now I have contemplated on a specific story of a goofy, misunderstood but highly intelligent and crafty grunt called Nim Yak, traversing the city “suburbs”, industrial centres, martial zones and outer rims of HC trying to survive the Civil War and later the Flood infection, tasked with an important top secret mission that reveals a dark plot twist, that Nim Yak struggles with before trying to rectify, finally resulting in him fighting desperately to survive and escape HC. The story was to be told in a survival horror game, with extreme emphasis on the horror 1/3-1/2way through as the infection breaks out. Unfortunately the story has stayed in my head as I haven’t got the skill or money to start any kind of meaningful development.
      Something I thought deeply on was deeply exploring the common districts of HC: housing, traffic areas, industrial zones, commercial zones, breeding areas, drug dens, brothels, underground black market zones, etc. Dark and seedy areas I wondered upon especially when I was a young kid, looking upon the central city for long amounts of time when playing as MC in the HC mission of H2. I’d imagine them booming with social and commercial activity, then during the civil war rife with chaos and bloodshed, then extremely eery and horrifying during the infection as scattered remnants of covenant forces from both sides of the Schism hole up in makeshift-security trying to survive the onslaught of the Flood.
      I’m detailing this very heavily, somewhat sharing too much, but I think someone with better means of creating such a thing could do with some form of inspiration from an extreme Halo fan such as myself

      @@b22blackeagle20 thanks man.
      If u wanna read more I’ll leave this here :)
      They choose him for the mission in preparation of the civil war as he is an unassuming individual. The start of the game would show a cutscene where Nim Yak is being tasked by an Elite commander, who assaults the young Grunt to intimidate him into compliance for the mission as Nim is initially fearful and rejecting (the story over time shows Nim Yak against severe odds, and occurrences like this establish that atmosphere)
      Through the first half Nim Yak finds another Grunt, Bik Lom, who he partners with throughout sections after that. In a specific scenario, before the infection, Nim comes across a Brute major who has caught wind of the top secret package that Nim has been tasked with transporting (Nim was told the package was to be used to save a massive portion of the Covenant population, with the majority being Unggoy, but the truth is actually much different). This Brute is a primary story point, the intention of his addition to create extreme tension through gameplay and storytelling: for example, in a cutscene introducing the Brute, he eats the remnants of a Grunt as Nim hides in a vent while travelling through a section. Anyway, during a climax of this story point where Nim seems to be at deaths door against the Brute, captured and battered, Bik saves him, establishing their brotherhood.
      However… even Bik has a secret to hide.
      The Flood sections are where the true horror starts. The first sections of the game were tension against vicious enemies and odds (primary focus on small enemy numbers, supplemented by high fear and risk), who although are terrifying, they are at least sentient and predictable. But the 2nd half is terror survival, reminiscent of Outlast or RE7 Biohazard. The battle isn’t taken to the Flood, such as Master Chiefs story, but instead under the radar. Nim’s craftiness and cunning though allow him to traverse through this nightmare, although coming out the other end traumatised and completely reborn.
      Nim encounters old friends who have been infected, Flood worship cults, mass graves, and tasks so out of hand they seem literally impossible but are necessary for his survival.
      The end is Nim’s attempt to find an escape vessel that he can use to return to the Unggoy home planet Balaho.
      God I wish I could create this game, and give the fans a masterpiece. Maybe I should start on writing it, even for myself. Thanks for reading man :)

Other sci-fi universes like Star Trek etc are too fantasy-like because they don't take in cultural/social & technological growth development, it's just boom, we have warp & laser guns, & oh, humanity gave up their violent nature. That kind of change takes time in a 1000 year range not a couple hundred years. Halo & The Expanse seem to me being hard sci-fi seems to be more plausible than other sci-fi IPs.

    Interesting idea, if you can say warp space around you to move, then the energy requirements you'd need to do something you'd already achieved should be trivial, meaning that hypothetically wouldn't you be able to use that warp effect to basically "move" objects around you kinda like the panels using lenticular lenses bend light couldn't if you're already bending space bend it in such a way it moves objects around you ahead of you, obviously this applies to small objects larger objects would probably require too much energy but just a thought.

    I mean, you could really argue that High Charity is a space station. Typically stations lack a propulsion system but that isn't a requirement. A station is just meant to support life for extended periods of time and designed to remain in space. I think High Charity matches that perfectly since I doubt you're landing it on a planet anytime soon

    I looked up to see if the atmosphere would be viable for humans and it is but, not for very long. Kinda sinister to think of all the captives brought to high charity and thinking perhaps dying from atmospheric causes may be a blessing in disguise rather than be tortured or eaten alive by the covenant.

    I struggle to think of a space station in a sci-fi universe that couldn't move by its own propulsion. Be it Babylon 5, Stargate, Star Wars, Star Trek or any other universe, including our own (ISS/Tiangong) - space stations can all move under their own propulsion.

    • @cj-3810
      @cj-3810 Рік тому

      That’s because you’re right; a space station isn’t a space station because it’s stationary; it’s a space station because it can only be stationed in space; as is the case for High Charity.

  • @trystonragains9852
    @trystonragains9852 Рік тому

    You realize that our space station is not stationary and it also can move under its own propulsion as well.. I believe stationary is a relative term anyway because nothing sits in one place in space and time without ateast vibrating

    I was always under the impression that the activation of the replacement halo ring at the end of Halo 3 exterminated life on the Arc and thereby killed off the flood on High Charity
    I thought that was the whole point

    What I don't get is why the Covenant Home Fleet didn't glass it to shreds when it became clear that it could not be held against the Flood after the separation of tge Dreadnought.Surely even the Prophets and elites could see the problems just leaving it to the Flood could cause and stop fighting for a few hours to do that.

    • @cj-3810
