- Both are great in my opinion. In RO2 you have to also change the barrel when it overheats. There are 3 different ammo variations. I wouldn't too much compare the graphics of these two games, because the games were released in 2011 and 2019. Also my outdated PC simply cannot run Hell Let Loose with good graphics settings. RO2 was played here with maxed out settings tho.
One thing I really miss about RO2 were the callouts and voice lines, so good

Both Games are good but to me it seems like RO2 is better for casual gamers than HLL, due to the simpler mechanics.
RO2 is a perfect mix between hard and casual shooter, love these games of it's devs
Y'all should also check out Rising Storm 2 Vietnam, more modern game made by the same devs with Vietnam setting. Plus they are currently making a new game '83 that will be set in Cold War setting, the trailer is out, check it out

RO2, the only game I've ever pre-ordered. I got two TF2 hats and a Killing Floor 2 skin out of it lol.
What happens if the barrel is destroyed in R02? Will it still shoot just very inaccurately?

The barrel status will eventually say "barrel destroyed". And when that happens the weapon cannot be used unless u swap the barrel. In this video I didn't tho test what happens if you would swap the barrel before u break it. If we assume that this is very well made game, it might be so that the barrel will stay cooling down in ur inventory and u could eventually keep swapping between two barrels once they cool down enough to be used again. This tho I didn't test during my gameplay. I did only break the barrels by overusing them.
I also do not know if the weapon gets more inaccurate once the barrel starts to get heated up.
@ If I remember correctly, you cannot swap back to the original barrel at all, but you certainly can't after you burst it.
I have to say HLL has a much better sounding MG42 than RO2 does. RO2 is a timeless game, but advancements in graphics and sound design have greatly enhanced the MG42 sound, design, and textures. I do wish they incorporated the barrel swap into the mechanics of HLL to help balance the MG42 in the game however. You did a great comparison, but unfortunately your PC appears to be a bit to weak to run HLL on anything other than extremely low graphics settings and still it lags which does the HLL MG42 a bit of a disservice.
Hll is also poorly optimized and hasnt made much advancements considering how old ro2 is aso the maps in ro2 are a lot more fun and action packed hll maps are too big for the small ammount of players.
Oh yes. My PC's graphics card is quite outdated. Hell let loose won't run too well. This video hopefully managed to at least demonstrate the MG-42's functions. For example in hell let loose you can single tap fire mg42, when in ro2 u cannot. In hell let loose you seem to have oddly high amount of ammunition inside one magazine. I can't tho tell how much is the ammo capacity of the real life counterpart.
