Nice very descriptive video on this very useful tool. FWIW- If the guitar has an onboard preamp with " brilliance" , be careful not to have both ondoard or outboard brilliance settings much beyond low or moderate combined. With both engaged, even a little, can cause more finger and string nouse. I really like the transparency of the Fishman Pro and Tonedeq.
Really cool video for us nylon guys! How is that Camps guitar? I use a GK Pro Negra and it's pretty good but a bit mid-rangey and weak on the treble side.
I don’t mind the Cordoba guitars. They can all be made to sound great if you adjust the pick up slot and the saddle bottom. The secret is to get both surfaces perfectly flat and have at least a 45° brake angle on the string. The Guitar that I’m using now is a Stephen Hill custom-made guitar from Granada Spain. It’s much much better than the camps and I have a Carlos Juan pickup system in it which is nice. I still use the camps on tour as a back up and it plays really well just doesn’t have the depth of sound like the hill guitar.
Hey man ! Amazing ! What other effect pedals do you recommend next to the fishman? Big sky ? Another question..im.using zoom a3 what do you recommend along with the zoom ?
I really like the way it works even with guitars that have a built-in preamp. It allows you to tailor the sound and add a little compression really quickly especially if you have a bad sound guy :-)
Hi David, i'm searching a good preamp for my Camps Primera Negra E (with L R Baggs Anthem Classica).. i'm confused b/w this Fishman Platinum Pro and L R Baggs Venue... can you suggest please...??? Love n Respect from India 🇮🇳 ❤🙏🙏
Both are great products. The Venue has a dual Parametric filter which can make a difference in a problem environment, meaning a feedback prone room. But I like the Fishman better for these reasons. 1) Bass Roll off control (High Pass Filter) for taming the bottom, 2) boost is cleaner I think 3) It has a nice optical compressor that can bring out the inside and take some edge off if used judiciously. 4) It has an effects loop AND an unbalance out for an amp. Altogether more useable for a working musician. Hope that helps PS Fishman Repair Dept is great!
Thanks David. Really enjoyed that review. I have an older Fishman Aura pedal specically for Nylon string. I have an older Guild Mk-Vl classical with a Baggs L6 piezo (passive), It actually is the saddle, I also have a Guild MK-lll with a Fishman Piezo Transducer Element (that one has a moderatel powered preamp). That little Fishan Aura pedal has some nice modeling settings. I reall like the fact that ye unit your reviewed has a compessor built in. especially as Evan noted it is a soft knee. Thanks Very much again. Love your playing!
Yes I use that pedal six days a week for mostly outdoor shows. The EQ is good enough for me to follow the humidity and tonal changes in the air for the most part. I do play around with the compressor depending what kind of song I’m playing. It’s pretty useful a teeny bit touchy but I can’t think about an actual compressor with five knobs on it while I’m playing a show.. my bigger rig has a rack mount compressor that is more adjustable but 99% of the time I don’t bring that. Right now I’m looking for a programmable digital compressor that sounds decent so that I can head to three different settings for different kinds of songs on the show. And while I’m fantasizing it would fit in a box about the size of an old MXR delay :-)

Also the Camps system is great in that guitar for the money so either will be ok in the long run.

Great job- just subscribed
Demasiado grande y le falta reverb. No me convence.

Sí, para Reverb, uso el Strymon Big Sky
