Do you have a different opinion on Calcharo and his gameplay nearly 2 months into release? I've found his gameplay far too limiting compared to pretty much every other DPS on the roster so I've benched him for the foreseeable future. Hopefully he'll get a new sustain in the future that can simplify his rotations.
I feel like his rotation is actually pretty smooth and I've adapted it to a lot of the bosses in tower to 3 star clear and to clear hologram 6s.. Its def not jiyan or jinhsi easy, but its fun and rewarding. If you're interested in trying him out more, i can give you a rotation that feels pretty flexible and lets you ult ever 25-30 seconds with almost full buff up-time.
@@saintontas I sometimes never use his ult at all. Using his ult is basically guaranteed death when fighting bosses specifically hologram or the middle toa
As a Calcharo main, I just can’t understand why his dodge counter doesn’t build his forte in his resonance liberation state. It would make total sense in a game like this.
@@letsrank9349 Chixia counter dmg is at least decent but yes she does suffer from being interupted during her forte but at least her burst window is shorter than Calc, getting maximum potential calc without quickswap or dodge is basically impossible outside of the enemy being stunned
I totally agree, also i think they should change his 15% dmg reduction bullshit to knockback resistance, this would make him feel sooo much better to play and deal alot more dmg without buffing his numbers.
I think they need to make 2 change to his kit: 1. let him gain stack even if he miss his attack 2. let him gain stack from using his dodge counter attack durring his utl 2 simple change, he will become a dps demon
Kuro listens to its players, but I don't think they would change a character's kit since I don't see enough people complaining about it. People have moved on to other dps units
@@alatusedits let me dream T_T but I also hope if they ever release his signature weapon, it might fix his kit. example, speed up his auto attack during his Liberation, that will help his kit tremendously
i think he got nerfed because right before wuwa released, pretty much every CC and reddit post was about skipping jiyan, be F2P and get calcharo get from selector. Think kuro was like hell you will lol. firmly believe community was the cause for that nerf. Losing yinlin buff when quickswapping was just the nail in the coffin for that duo/calcharo.
@@henqjuhh They nerfed him to the point that he's not playable even without Yinlin. Very basic traits of a character are also missing. It's not like 'oh skill issues' no, it's more like 'hehe you got an occasional damage dealer'.
People keep saying skill issue, but the character is literally just that bad. I don't even know why people thought he was good, the moment you play him against any enemy that keeps attacking you, he literally loses half his dps potential.
Skill issue, the same could be said for many other dps- they lose damage as they are interrupted when attacked. His real fault is numerous animation cancellation which isn’t as easy as turn brain off jiyan in order to reach his damage potential. This will separate a lot of comfort players from mechanical enjoyers and of course him being restricted as a standard character. This video is rather biased but does highlight how punishing playing him can be. He did fail to provide all the effective solutions such as using your skill to cancel dodge animations during burst etc. Calcharo X Yinlin is all about pucssss s Animation cancel, Yinlin is arguably more clunky to play but she’s a hot anime lady that appeals to many lonely single guys and has less field time.
I assume its due to whatever they nerfed after the beta, but if i have to be honest, his issue can be described as the same as the `camera` problem where you wanna focus one target down, but because he jumps all over the place, he loses out on his damage. Since if he was simply attacking the same enemy again and again, then he could likely dispatch them fast. But in mobbing scenarios, unlike Jiyan, he ends up spliting his damage, plus if you dont get the `Melphis echo` that does NOT involve spamming multiple attacks over, then you end up having to spend too much time just todo all his stuff. Guess we can be glad if we get a `free electro 5 star gauntlet user` next version, since that would mean Linyin won`t be half screwed on useful options, though i can atleast use Calcharo as a low floor option for ToA runs once we get more variety to work with, especially on supports to make chasing 21 or even 24 stars more possible, especially once the f2p/light-spenders get into the level 90 window to stop suffering sizable damage penalites. And of course since he has to `spam alot of actions` todo his damage, this means animation lock makes it too easy for you to get pot shot, the same kind of problem a certain Tiga boi was apparently suffering because he has to commit too much on the damage. Welp, i landed chi-girl on my first 5 star so i dont regret too much going for calcharo as my 2nd pick, since yinlin existed, since my only other option would of been Encore. Though a 50/50 flop decided to give me the tiga boi, since resource investments are too sparse once you chase the level 80 land, i dont really have the space to work on the chi girl or tiga boi at the current moment. Anyway, maybe if we get a electro 4 cost echo that `fixes` calcharo`s issues in 1.3., maybe he can still be salvaged as your low floor sweeper for ToA. Since we already know 1.2 is going to give a glacio `whale` world boss echo and the glacio unit for that verison is gonna be a `support, then that means the Turtle is probably gonna get retired soon since i would not be amazed if the whale echo`s skill is a healing specific and maybe damage bonus one with probably a more useful effect in a different direction, maybe gather up enemies as one possible effect maybe?
@@DanielCruz-xq6eo "the same could be said for many other dps- they lose damage as they are interrupted when attacked." But Calcharo is the one character that loses the most dps from a dodge. A Jiyan or jinhsi dodge is almost negligible to overall dps. A Calcharo dodge is not. In fact some other characters can use dodges to get more dps by skipping animations.
I used to think he was fine at release and learning how to pilot his "optimal" rotation was fun, but after building my Encore and seeing how much simpler she was to play and doing consistently doing more damage, it was hard to have the willpower to play him again. Needless to say after getting jinhsi, he never saw any field time ever again
This is so true. I always felt piloting him was so clunky. The optimal quick swap way to play him makes him safer, but you're multiplying the number of button presses you need to do within strict rotational timings for a relatively small gain. For example on my Jinhsi team I can do equal or higher damage with less cognitive load. Same for my Havoc Rover + Danjin team.
He is my most used character. Cleared all of the content with him and still my boi have to crawl just to squeeze out every bit of damage when others are running free getting them. Either we get forte stack with dodge attacks and buff his innate passive to atleast 50% with interuption prevention, or make death messenger on 3 charges instead of duration. We get to keep all the complexity of the character but we are not punished for doing what the games ask us to do, dodge. I hope more CN players complain about this so we get Kuro to revisit his kit. I don't want him to be easier to play, but I don't want to get punished losing 30% of my dps by doing a core game mechanic successfully.
The Chinese player base figured this out pretty early but I doubt any change will be made since the audience has since moved on to hyping havoc main now, he is officially buried.
@@letsrank9349 Same, I got Jianxin and her forte helps a lot along side with turtle and his passive. Do you full charge her forte? Im debating if one bar is enough for the dps loss charging it. Maybe it would be better if I actually build my Jianxin.
This is actually so true and I can’t deny it. Also adding to the fact that I rarely use the echo button on him. He’s literally my most built character at this point
Truth is people say it's not Genshin or it's skill issue. But WuWv combat is mainly about dodge counter. If you fought with new hologram boss at level 5 maybe you will understand how much dodge counter is used in game.
Same Seeing her dmg without weapon....hitting 60k I was pressured I to pulling her weapon and now I'm clapping 137k No gonna regret it tho Calcharo Boi I'm sorry ur retired
They really fck up with him, they should've released him later and revised as a limited 5 star. I really feel he would've done a truck load on sales looking like Sephiroth and already having Yinlin, you tease him, knowing he will be busted with her, even add a quest between them like he is a sort of criminal she is chasing, etc., and recreate as sue free as possible the fire scene with electricity instead, and you are fkn done.
Because of Jiyan. He was said to be stronger than him... a limited banner Resonator lol! Imagine how he was stronger than Jiyan tho ._. I can't imagine.
One thing that you forgot to mention is that even if you execute everything perfectly his special attack frequently misses destroying his DPS and making everything pointless. Another thing that would help a lot in making him feel better is making his special attack spawn directly above the target similar to other special attacks like Encore's. I really like Calcharo, but something is wrong when Rover clears content faster than my heavily invested 5* standard character supported by his best in slot 5* sub DPS limited banner character, supported by the best 5* standard character support.
I disagree with the Rover comparison. This is my first gacha game where the MC wasn't utter garbage. Rover is actually a viable character, worthy of at least a 4.5 star standard. I agree Calcharo sucks, but Rover isn't a fair comparison to other gacha games. If you were to compare Genshin's electro Traveler with Keqing, it's no contest that Keqing has always been better. Hell, the only element thus far that's worth anything is dendro, and that's 1 of 5 so far. Both of the Rover elements we have are already reasonably viable.
@@Draygoon3l because rover (the free main character) being good is good for the game so him being worse is not necessarily a bad thing, and technically rover is a 5 star character. Now 4 star characters that you still need to pull overperforming him, that is quite an upset.
Two things I do not like is how his ultimate is 1 or 2 seconds too short and you absolutely have to animation cancel it even if the enemy is staggered to get his final death messenger. The other egregious thing is that dodge counters do not generate stacks. If you dodge counter you will not get his final death messenger. These things heavily affect his dps output. I think they did this on purpose to not hurt Jiyan sales. Yinlin is actually not his ideal team mate either. He needs a support character that maintains buffs on swap out like Verina or yes a character like Zhongli so swap out is not necessary. Calcharo is compatible with aura buffers. I do not find anything wrong with his dps in general and I actually find his playstyle fun. He is just missing QoL within his kit.
All good and well, I just think people need to be honest in saying he's not worth the effort for a lot of people, especially those coming from Jinhsi, Jiyan, or Havoc Rover.
@@saintontasDefinitely! For those who want to optimize resources, he may be on the lower priority to build. Unless they really need an electro DPS say for Tower of Adversity. But man is he fun to use. I like him more than my Jiyan and Jinhsi, playstyle-wise. He has more room for skill expression in my opinion but of course, inside the Tower, META matters at least for first clears and for those who care. Great video as always!
His dodge mechanics nerfing his damage rotations is a bit hard to work around. They should really fix that. Especially not giving ult stacks feels bad. The 11 second duration is only enough time for 1 empowered heavy, 2 if you did nothing but attacking.
oh man this hits me like a truck. just today i maxed out his passives trying to finally get that third dorito on stage 4 in ToA but iam still missing like 20-30 seconds. meanwhile, i build encore like a weak ago and she manages to get 3 stars with no issues. made me feel super sad because i loved calcharo from the very first moment i saw his gameplay. i kinda want to keep going with him still but its damn rough with him out there compared to other characters for sure.
I cannot express how great it felt to switch from Calcharro to Changli- like actually doing damage and being much more agile and flexible in combat was such a mind blowing feeling I mean if you eat dirt your whole life you’ll never know how good an actual sandwich tastes, and it really felt like a whole new experience
I hate when devs change something last minute before their release. Hoyo did that with Arlan. If it's the last round of beta testing, nothing drastic should be changed because how do you know that the changes implemented are gonna be good or balanced? If they really need to change something, there should be another round of testing. Also, having a pathetic disclaimer of "subject to change" doesn't make it less feel of a false advertising when people can see the development process (even if it's CBT, this is the internet, everything is bound to be leaked).
Look what Hoyo did to Diluc, they were to sell an accompanying character for Venti and to lazy to make a new one. So what do you do. Turn a normal attacker into a plunger, making constellations worthless with abysmal normal attack% alongside his charge attack nonsense… at least Calcharo ain’t as bad, but still sucks. Not sure if they’re going to change it.
You pretty much nailed in the head the issues I started facing with Calcahro as I started doing endgame content. Overworld wise he was still ok, but high level of Holo bosses, and tower he was getting too tiring to play, that it started to feel cumbersome playing him. It got to the point that I got lazy and didn't do the one side of the tower for one rotation coz I did want to deal with him anymore, my excitement for the game returned as soon I started building my Jiyan and getting Jinhsi. They either need to make his ult last 3 secs longer (especially since his enhance intro interrupts the flow), and allow forte gain from dodge counter attack or make Yinlin's outro buff not be removed when he quickswaps his death messengers.
Reworks that can make calcharo better in terms of dmg -Increase the atk spd of his basic and reso skill similar to jiyan atk spd -Reso skill will gain forte circuit stack regardless if it hit the enemy or not -Gain forte circuit stack when using 1 basic atk after reso skill -Dodge counters gain forte circuit stack -Basic atk, heavy atk, forte circuit and reso skill be considered as ult dmg -Decrease the delay of 5th basic attack during ult - Increase the atk spd of death messenger -Increase the duration of reso liberation to 15 secs
Now i realise why i benched him immediately after i pulled him and just used rover instead😭😭hes so clunky and it hurts when i cant dodge the bosses even if i wont die bc itll disrupt his ult
He was the first lego I pulled and he looked cool so I committed to him. Learning the game with him was basically like playing the game on hard mode and forced me to actually learn mechanics and git gud. After sticking with him all this time and picking up Yinlin for him, I absolutely shred with him but its still a lot of work. He kind of feels high risk with ok reward compared to other main DPS characters like Jiyan and Jinhsi. What I've found that makes him a bit easier to pull off is ditching this trash Memphis echoes for the Mech Abomination and running double 2 piece bonuses with Lingering Tunes and Thunder sets. His rotation is simpler this way of just light attack -> skill -> light attack -> skill -> echo -> skill -> heavy attack -> swap to Verina -> skill -> echo (bell) -> ult -> heavy attack -> swap to Yinlin -> skill -> ult/light attacks -> skill -> heavy -> echo (heron) -> swap to Calchero -> ult. During ult use either echo or skill to animation cancel the long animation hit of the chain. Outside of ult if you can't parry with the light attacks, then you can just dodge and counter instead into your skill cancels.
As a Calcharo main that has managed to 3 star clear both Aix and Beringal with him in the current ToA, I see Calcharo as having 1 major flaw and 1 minor flaw. I don't have a problem with his kit in general, however with a higher degree of difficulty and risk associated with his kit, there should also be an increased amount of damage. With enough skill, it is possible to land all 3 death messengers without swap cancelling against most bosses (and without tanking the entire duration, you can dodge cancel your dodge counters and still push 3 death messengers), however it is disheartening to see the consensus being that Encore has higher damage while being easier to play for the same amount of investment. The 1 major flaw with Calcharo's kit is that his replacement Intro Skill "Necessary Means" does not trigger timestop, and takes almost 3 seconds to execute. This means that outside of his first rotation, even in his most optimal rotation, you won't be able to maintain Mephis and Bell-Borne echo buffs until his 3rd cast of Death Messenger. The 1 minor flaw is his second inherent skill Revenant Rush that is just bad design - "expect you to take damage so here is a bit of damage reduction" skill, which is not even impactful at all at 15%, to the point that I feel it is a waste of materials to even unlock. You shouldn't be encouraged to take damage in this type of game. If going the mitigation route, it should require precise timing but payoff with full mitigation (invulnerability/countermeasures), reducing duration from 5s to just the duration of the Death Messenger, ending when Calcharo lands on the ground, as a tradeoff for the increased reward. However, I would rather Death Messenger remain a risky move (no mitigation), but have this second inherent skill reward you accordingly - something like "After Calcharo casts Liberation, if at full HP, gains a buff granting +20% crit rate to Death Messenger. This buff lasts until Calcharo takes damage or is swapped out." Fixing the major flaw (giving timestop property to Necessary Means), along with releasing a competitive echo to Encore's Inferno Rider (Thundering Mephis taking too long and Tempest only providing partial benefits to Calcharo), should be enough to put Calcharo in that sweet spot of having slightly more potential than Encore for the increased risk and difficulty, whilst not having as much damage as premium characters such as Jinhsi (as premium characters should generally have more damage than standard characters). Fixing the minor flaw would just be a bonus. Calcharo just does not feel rewarding to play right now when you can have both an easier time AND push more damage with Encore. TLDR: give Necessary Means timestop property.
After one month of playing him, yes I feel very comfortable using him. I know when to cast his attacks, what to do and what not to do. Jiyan and Jinhsi are way better because they were not free picks. I’m very comfortable using him
In 1.1 they nerfed him even more. Now his intro always zooms camera in, which was the reason for many of my deaths. They fixed this bug for other characters, but kept it on Calcharo. At this point, i think they intentionally sabotage Calcharo, so people pull and play other units. Quite dirty tactic, and it sounds like something Mihoyo would do.
Mihoyo huh 🙈 I think so honestly, they had to nerf him to give even more of a reason to pull on yinlin, otherwise people immune to mommy-dom woulda skipped 🤷♂️
@@nhq4162 Too late for that S4 and above Yuanwu should actually be able to do that and the best part is that there are going to be characters even better than Yuanwu at his role in the future.
Been maining Calcharo since Day 1. Here are my proposed list of changes for him: 1. Replace his 2nd inherent skill. I don't know what the guy who made that was smoking but a 15% damage reduction after hitting a Death Messenger just ain't it. Replace it with something that buffs his damage even more. He's a main DPS so his passives should make him deal more damage and NOT reduce any damage he takes. 2. Dodge counter should give him 2 stacks. As of now, his dodge counter only gives him 1 stack and that's only during the second attack. Currently, dodging well during Liberation punishes you since it almost always results in preventing you from getting 3 Death Messengers during your Liberation. 3. While in combat, Calcharo should gain 1 stack of Cruelty just by casting his Resonance Skill instead of hitting it. Also, fix the 2nd part of his Resonance Skill since it sometimes misses when Calcharo is too close to an enemy or if an enemy is awkwardly placed near a cliff/ledge. 4. Necessary Means should pause the timer. Currently, Necessary Means eats up about 2 seconds of Calcharo's time. If you so happen to use the upgraded Intro during his Liberation, this means 2 less seconds during it which prevents you from getting 3 Death Messengers and gives you 2 less seconds to deal decent damage during it. 5 is more of my bias taking over since he's my favorite character and are not necessary to his kit. 5. Change his 5th duplicate. A 50% increase in damage during his intro skills sounds like an inherent skill and not worth the value that a 5th duplicate should give. A good change would be to replace his 2nd inherent skill with the current 5th dupe and to replace his current 5th dupe with something that buffs his OUTRO instead of his intro.
And maybe buff his numbers? I feel like he's been over nerfed in order to not have him cascade over Jiyan but comparing his previous numbers from his current numbers makes me tear up a bit.
I'm really hoping Kuro does some straight up balancing to their characters. There a lot of abilities in this game that just don't work or don't seem to work as intended. It seems like gacha developers try to avoid balance patches for some reason, which sucks. Some small tweaks here and there would do a lot.
2 changes would make calcharo feel so much better: + 2 stacks on dodge counter + Make his stand do the forte slam instead So no more dodge cancel his forte and he actually feel good to play
The issue is Kuro cannot tune him. This sets bad precedence. If his kit is adjusted, this opens up the possibility of lot of player complaints about limited characters ("My Jiyan/Jinshi who I spent money on is getting out-damaged by XYZ new character. Their kits are not meta anymore. Please buff them Kuro!"). In the worst case scenario, Kuro releases a new ovebuffed character, milks everyone's wallets, and then "balances" them a few patch later (seems wild but some devs have done this exact same thing). So Calcharo is going to remain a second tier character for most. I have mostly given up on him.
@@evanleone8434 The issue is the current Calcharo is the release Calcharo. Things that were in the beta cannot be used as a standard and you can't hold the devs accountable. However, if they buff him now, that is misleading to the consumer in the same manner nerfing him after buffing him is. I can say that I didn't choose Calcharo as a character during the two free selectors as he was simply not good enough based on the available information. Now that you have buffed him, I have to spend money on him to get him with no guarantee when I will get him. You basically provided wrong information to me on purpose to make me use my selectors on other characters so that I will have to spend money to get him. This is a simplified argument but pretty much the gist of why characters in gacha games never get adjusted even if they are broken or useless.
@@snigdhadevdas3191 that is stupid, warframe nerfs shit after release all the time for example (a non gacha game but you can still pay for stuff) the actual reason is the fact that gacha games just don`t have any reason to buff older characters that people already pulled because they won`t affect their current sales. This is why p2w games are riddled with power creep.
@@beegyoshi1685 And so does League. But the nature of the transactions are different. Make a better argument and correct comparison before saying something is dumb. If you want real-life proof, look up what happened when Genshin tried to nerf Neuvillette.
What's the point of nerfing a 5 star character to "balance the game" if you going to throw a character that deals 6 digits dmg the next patch, it makes no fucking sense
don't forget without interruption resistance, he could literally take 0 damage and still lose 30% of his res lib damage bc he got knocked on the floor :(
Great analysis, fantastic video! Unfortunately he is cursed with being a standard character so most people don't care about him and even when we do, Kuro won't. His number is noticably lower than limited character by design but his main issue is the fact that he is basically having lower ceiling while also having a harder time reaching that ceiling making him feels worse than he is during the beta/compared to other chara (not having a limited weapon is also an issue, losing 30% dmg bonus compared to Jiyan or Jinshi is massive on top of non crit rate substat)
We now know new tech on how to make the most of his entire kit- what to cancel, what not to cancel, when to swap etc. Playing him as designed feels bad in the way that playing the game GunZ: the Duel feels bad. Playing to the strengths of his kit however, is some of the most rewarding gameplay you'll experience in wuwa. Nothing is wasted, and dmg output is deservedly earned
i did not want to play wu wa, but my friends told me its far better than genshin, so i tried it. made 7 re rolls accounts. Got calcharo is 5 out of them and Lingyan in the remaining 2, was gonna drop the game, then they gave us the free selector so i got my Verina on the account i kept. Fast forward, I lost 50:50 twice and against the best option, i got Jiyan and Jinshi. They share the standard claymore with Calcharo. And out of all the DPS and teams, I prefer havoc rover, encore, baizhi team. I have no real team for clacharo and he has zero aoe, and your video gave me more knowledge on his shortcoming. Jiyan feel clunky and I cant seem to be able to do counters with his team with Mortifie. and Jinshi I think i dont play her correctly i either do 23k or 65k no in between and she get easily staggered and lose her skill stacking. It dont help that the game camera sitting are not helpful, or the new enemies that move all around the screen and have no clear moves to dodge. Maybe this game not for me after all
Other than skills, levels, echoes, etc. you need a team that builds Jinhsi's concerto gauge quickly. Yinlin is best, but Yuanwu is a really strong secondary, and requires little to no investment.
Ive watched 1 minute of the video. Can't understand why people say he's slow or that his kit is weird and dont work. For me y'all just aint playin right. He's completely my style and I can't have the same fun playin' any other character in this game, closest yet being Danjin, and she still far. He's not braindead, and that's why I think people say he's not a good character. I can easily clear any holo 6 boss in this game with him (except Mephis, of course, since Mephis has lots of electro resist) and just didn't 3* every floor of tower of adversity cuz ion got Verina and I'm also a f2p so I only got 1 dupe. Still able to clear the last floor with 2* easily though. If you want fun playing Calcharo, yall gotta learn how to quick swap. If yall dont quick swap, y'all simply ain't using him on his max potential. I also got no-hit bosses with that technique on my channel if y'all want to see what I'm talkin about. Definitely the best-feeling character in the game for me, by far. Edit 2: if y'all having hard times with his basic attack parries, something I really can't understand cuz for me it's easier than rover to parry with, keep in mind his 3 stages of resonance skill can also parry and the aoe on them makes it easier.
The quickswap playstyle is antisynergy with the nerfed Yinlin outro. All it takes is 1 new electro dps who doesn't need to swap and has good numbers (like possibly the upcoming Gauntlet guy) for him to get thrown in the dumpster forever.
Of course people will stop playing him probably soon. But it aint cuz he weak or sum, it's just cuz y'all don't like having fun, only exploding stuff in seconds. That's sad, tbh.
On top of all the issues people are already mentioning, another one I noticed that's more unique to him since he has a transformation state, is that the time slow when you parry an enemy (especially those bosses in tower of adversity and holograms), seems to eat into his ult duration. There were times when I was doing his full combo, no dodges, but parrying then stunning the boss caused me to not have enough time to do his 3rd special heavy attack.
i dont support the idea of adding a new character to fix the previous chatracter, this is not GenShit impact , they have to change his kit to make him playable. look even if they change his kit people will still pull for new characters and the new characters will mostly be better at damage , so fixing his kit won't do any bad to the game.
im still able to get 12 triangles from TOA on calcharo, but his resonance skill feels like shit when it doesn't hit at all when he clearly did, or I think I witnessed the shadow not even being deployed so I do 0 dmg and there's only an animation of calcharo swiping his sword, but also no dmg
I love how everyone was saying to pick him up if you got yinlin with your selector , but after Genshin , I knew this was going to happen , especially for him sooner rather than later…so I picked up jianxin instead a support. It’s a shame because his design and animations are easily the best ….
I mean to be fair, Aalto was a similar situation for College Xiao, but technically its because Morfeti has more flexibility and off-field DPS, while Aalto just lacks sub-dps functionality, which means Aalto will get to shine later when we get more wind-specific DPS units that are not heavy attack specific... Though of course if we get a basic attack centric wind unit, then that just means Sanhua gets another friend, so probably gonna only work if its some mixed wind damage type unit, plus one can only hope maybe Kurogames will do some adjustments if its reall bad. Never the less, Aalto, let me prepare some gear to get Morfeti decked out, once i finish getting done with Baizhi and Verina catch up. As for Sephie boi, i can still see him having an `advantage` for boss stuff or low-mob type waves, unless a certain 1.2. unit just has a way better functioning kit as a electro gauntlet DPS supposedly. Though he could really use an echo similar to Jue, where a large portion of the echo`s gimmick is done passively with maybe the active could have a crowd control function in it. Which if the enemies are all grouped up, that can technically make Sephie boi`s problem more useful, especially if it can hit multiple enemies with each pop instead of constantly teleporting a good deal across the map todo said teleport slashes.
@@tactician3023 useless, anybody can use originte and healing set, her kit is only remotely good enough for havoc Rover and even her best teammate is danjin lmao
honestly calcharo is the only thing that made me try the game but seeing the huge canyon between him and jiyan/jihnsi is honestly making me consider dropping wuwa cuz no one else rly interests me
It is absolutely suck but He is still usable at least, not being to compete with the best of the best doesn't make you terrible. Be grateful that your main is not Lingyang lol
I agree with all your points 100%. I stopped playing my Calcharo when I couldn't even 3 star the 2nd floor of Electro Tower with him, Yinlin and Bazhi (Verina was elsewhere). Skill issue on my part ig.
That is definitely a skill issue for sure since I had not problem almost getting max stars. I just don't have enough damage to full clear it yet. Even if I use my much better built Jinhsi I do not clear any faster. You just have to accept that you must animation and swap cancel. It lowers his max dps to be more like a good dps 4 star but it is much safer and more consistent. His theoretical max single target dps is actually better than Jiyan but you have to jump through too many hoops to make it practical (Need to have all 3 death messengers and maintain full buff uptime). Jiyan you can just unga bunga.
Other than the last stage in the Elec Tower, cause my calcharo is lvl 70 and isn't build pretty good (cause my main is Rover and Jinhsi currently atm that i play most of the time). But yeah Calcharo kit overall is generally pretty slow especially if you use him as your main DPS and the most onfield char., Calcharo atm feels like something should just be used as a Liberation Spammer.
I found a way to play Calcharo now. My issue with him was he can't reach all the enemies scattered around in time, and stage 2 today has these Young Roseshrooms that you need to dodge from multiple sides, cutting his damage significantly. I stopped bringing a healer since it's ToA 2, I want to use them for higher floors. I paired him with Jianxin that is Full attack to give him fat shields, and I didnt bother dodging at all. It was the most fun I had with this guy, probably will use this on all lower floors from now on. Sidenote: Electro tower was way tougher today than the Spectro tower. I really hate Young Roseshrooms😂
@@letsrank9349 I think the young tentacle monsters has even more health that Tempest Mephis and you can't really group them because they are stuck on the ground😅
@@dvornikovalexei For support I would suggest the healer set with cr, dmg, dmg, def, def and the 3 star cd weapon that heals on normal atk. You can switch one or both of the dmg to energy (if you need the burst more often), or def (if you want a bigger shield). Just remember to punch something before you switch him out so you get the atk buff from the healer set.
Calcharo has a lot of nuance when it comes to using his kit, and how you use it depends on the fight. You can alternate basic and skill for a smoother output, lining up the enhanced heavy with the end of his basic chain. The first skill is really fast and a good counter, so if a counter is coming up only do basics and launch into the 3 skill chain when its time to counter. During liberation, his dodge counter is considered liberation damage so still benefits from his buffs and you can do a ton of damage if u ult right before the boss does a long attack chain. This is especially effective on the crownless hologram phase transition or the monkey hologram spin to win move, maintaining damage uptime where every other character has their damage fall off almost completely. Taoqi is a really good shielder for him. She can instantly apply huge shields with her intro, doesnt need on field time, and her outro is up every other rotation and buffs skill damage which is good for Yinlin since her coordinated attack, both on field and off, is counted as skill damage.
This is why it is my firm belief that he was actually designed to be swap cancelled, and the nerf to that was a direct nerf to him. Chixia is also a great example. her "E" regens the forte bar if she hits or misses. She also has a very high dmg multiplier on her dodge counter. So even if you have to dodge during your (Run and gun) when you hold "E" you will mnot lose that much damage anyhow, as her dodge counter does similar damage to her forte buffed power shot. Current Calcharo is like: a Danjin without her many s, a Chixia without her dodge counter multiplier & her "E" shennaningans when you have sequences on her. A Mortefi without his newly dsicovered mechanics. etc.
In my opinion, Calcharo mainly needs some added defensive options to be used as intended. My idea would be that he could gain Forte on Dodge counters, but lose one on hit to reduce the damage he receives and give him super armor. At the same time, his Heavy would always consume his Forte and ignore 10% enemy defense per stack. This would mean he maxes out at 30% regularly, but can go up to 50% in Burst Mode. This would change his endgame slightly from "landing full combos" to "keep swinging to charge the nuke". Hell, he could even gain a bit of healing from Burst Mode Forte stacks that go unused when the time is up, and turn unused Regular Forte stacks into healing when using his Liberation.
Basically he needs a zhongli type character to protect him there are other factors but since there's only 3 members team one occupied by yinlin the 3rd character has to be a shielder and buffer
I have to agree this wasn't the same Calcharo that was OP back in the day. At first I tried to cover up his weakness by practicing a whole lot. However the clunkiness remained he seemed so slow in comparison to Jiyan. There are many times Calcharo is putting himself in danger forcing a swap cancel. to be able to pull off 3 DMs in his Ult state is hard to do on a non-stunned enemy. doing dodges or anything else in his ult state is a dps loss. the meta Void team's star dps isn't as strong as he was expected to be. luckily YinLin despite the outro getting nerfed still rocks. Despite being a main on field dps I barely put him on field for long. Total skill issue on my part. I mainly use YinLin and Verina, only resorting to putting Calcharo once the boss is in near stun state.
I took Calcharo on the beginners banner just to pair him with Yinlin. Now the more I play Yinlin the more I realize there's almost no reason to swap out of her for Calcharo. My Yinlin has literally no Downtime. RS-RS-N4-HA-RL combo always guarantees I have Ult then just repeat again or swap to a support. I want him to get buff. At least Interuption resistance during his Ult Mode.
Still one of my favorite character in-game despite his high skill cap. The only downside with his kit is the forte circuit in his liberation do not stack up when doing dodge-counter and u'll lose DPS when bosses move too frequently. I have him at S1 and planning to get his S3 but I know it will take a while since I'm f2p.
Here’s what I think will make him great again 1. Increase the speed of his basic attacks and heavy attacks animation, as well as his skills to enable us to time parries and execute his combos 2. If calcharo dodges in between his BA4 or Heavy Attack, his phantom continues the attack. If he triggers a perfect dodge, the phantom does additional damage which is considered dodge counter. Calcharo himself doesn’t triggers dodge counter if this condition is met 3. Dodge counter in his liberation should count towards his stacks, while his ult duration should be extended I think this is enough lol. Any more and he might power creep ji yan lol
There are a few more factors that make Calcharo's gameplay super clunky and unenjoyable: 1. His attack knocks small mobs away from you, so you will have to dash to catch up to them to continue dealing damage (try E3 into Heavy Attack, you'll understand) 2. The current Electro Echo set doesn't work well with him at all. Currently we have 2 4-cost Electro Echos both need to hit their final attack in order to grant damage buffs. - Tempest Mephis: 2-hit (not great compared to others, but fine enough) but provide bad buff (+Heavy Attack Damage) - Thundering Mephis: 5-hit (too long, and super buggy) but provide good buff (+Resonance Liberation Damage) Calcharo overall is not a bad character in design. He is great for players who want to play a more stylish playstyle, but he definitely needs more QoL updates.
I genuinely believed that we are not currently having his signature weapon. If, and when they release his signature weapon, I believe he will rank much higher in the dps scaling
I thought it was just me. He was my first main before I got Jiyan before his banner ended; eventually, I got Jinhsi as well and her S1. Needless to say, I felt bad kinda abandoning him just to collect dust while having him with S3. So, I decided to level him up and invest in him, but using him again on a SOL3 rank 6 world, boy was he.....CLUNKY AS HELL. I now appreciate it how nice it is to dodge, and swap with Jinhsi and when you get back to her, you can just pick up the combo where you left her, but with Calcharo, dodge once and you lose a looooot of DPS. I thought I was just having a lot of skill issues using him until I clicked on this revelation of a video.
I got Calcharo on my first few pulls and loved it. He actually goes extremely well with Spectro rover and while it doesn’t solve any of his issues - it’s a massive bandaid patch. Currently using his current best in slot team and it doesn’t feel that great. I’m able to do more damage than my previous team but at the cost of comfort. And on that note - I’ll likely switch Verina into a changli team and end up using Spectro Rover.
What I also do not like about his kit is the fact that when you intro skill and get yinlin's outro, you are basically farther away from the enemy than where you intended to be. So if its maximizing his damage per time there's also the possibility that you could 1. miss his resonance liberation bc you are farther away from the enemy and 2. having the need to dash or use his skill takes more time than it should. Also that fact of quick swapping and him losing yinlin's outro buffs do suck so you have to pretty much stay on field hope for the best and try not to dodge (which is impossible bc its intended in the game).
I just recently 30/30 tower with my s0 calcharo/s0 yinlin team beating the the mourning aix and the heron. Sucks when the boss moves and you lose half your dps (had to do alot of delaying my rotation cause of that) but its still clearable.
The worst is considerate how he is 2 or 3 time harder than other character but still doing the same damage. It is crazy that I spend 1 version of resources on him, my Chixia ult simply does the same damage, but 1 button and timestop. I still enjoy using him, but he is B tier.
Yep... I mean, as soon as I noticed Jhinsi performing wayyyy better with Yinlin than a well-built Calcharo, who actually benefits from the electro buff, with Yinlin... I just kinda stopped using him :/ It's a shame. He really is my fave
Welp think of it ilike this: You can use that razor on other characters and you could use him specifically for low floor ToAs to conserve Stamina to have your optimal build units run. Though i havent tested if i can do solo and duo rounds, but im sure doing that would be helpful especially on the initial 2 floors if i could have someone like Calcharo and Yinlin able to clear 4 low floors, letting me have my main team able to cover 2 or even 3 of the higher floors once fully optimized. I`d say my fun is gonna be working on morfeti, once i get verina and baizhi caught up a smidge so my Jiyan comp can get a little more sturdy.
@@fastedwarrior7353 Jinshi sadly didnt come home for me (yet) so im kinda suffering a smidge on some DPS variety lol. Plus side i can X-fer Calcharo`s gear to the new lightning main DPS coming in 1.2. While i can X-fer my Aalto`s gear to Morfeti. So atleast it should make gear preping significantly easier for me. Especially since if i recall correctly, we should see a x2 simulated training bonus down the line if i recall correctly. Just doesnt help it feelsl ike for floor 4 ToA you need the sub-stuff to 70 and the main dps to 80 atleast to 1 star clear it if your not fully optimized on a team comp.
This is me right now, his playstyle is good enough for me but it has a lot of inconsistencies, his forte and specially his most powerful move, is clunky and has horrible hitbox/targetting, and really slow to pull off. Should have used my resources building havoc rover or encore, still managed to 26/30 ToA so far.
s4 Yuanwu is your man. Need enemies to be staggered? He got that covered since he shines with vibration damage. Use yuanwu + yinlin until boss is staggered then go ham with calcharo. Shielder? He can do that with s4 Healer and buffer? Use Cruisewing with healing set More off field damage activation with yinlin & yuanwu + on field calcharo
As a Calcharo Main from week 1 I can say that his damage is pretty dependent on his rotations. Also using Thundering Memphis is a DPS loss, you're better off using Tempest for quick echo activation to get the buffs. I also realized how Calcharo is dependent on his teammates, so Yinlin specifically needs alot of building as well so as to cover that window when Calcharo's on the bench. Overall, I wouldn't say that he's a bad unit, he just needs ALOT of investments and skills to use. And yes, his damage is pretty low, and I wish they didn't nerf him pre-release.
Hehhe with verdant summit and 290% crit damage he just deletes everything. Learn to build properly noob. Pair him up with verina and yinlin and he destroys everything
I'm currently at 27/30 stars in Tower, with Calcharo's attack set being one of my best built sets, period. Actually insane substat rolls. Even with Moonlit Yinlin supporting him, he's still probably going to stay regulated to the lesser towers forever. He feels like a 4 star. Edit to add: Oh and that's even with S1 because of an unlucky 50/50 loss.
1 thing I'd like to see is they rework him a bit and make it so when he in his atk animation, if you perfect dodge Calcharo would dodge and leave behinh his phantom partner to finnish his animation and deal the damage. He fight with a phantom on his side but the only time you see that phantom is when he outro, LoL
If you're interested in trying him out more, i can give you a rotation that feels pretty flexible and lets you ult ever 25-30 seconds with almost full buff up-time.

it would make even more sense for him to gain multiple stacks from that stuff

Calcharo X Yinlin is all about pucssss s
Animation cancel, Yinlin is arguably more clunky to play but she’s a hot anime lady that appeals to many lonely single guys and has less field time.

I really like Calcharo, but something is wrong when Rover clears content faster than my heavily invested 5* standard character supported by his best in slot 5* sub DPS limited banner character, supported by the best 5* standard character support.

@@voshadxgathic but why u disagree
@@Draygoon3l because rover (the free main character) being good is good for the game so him being worse is not necessarily a bad thing, and technically rover is a 5 star character. Now 4 star characters that you still need to pull overperforming him, that is quite an upset.

im so glad you made this video, it really puts into perspective my thoughts that i couldn't articulate well at all
Two things I do not like is how his ultimate is 1 or 2 seconds too short and you absolutely have to animation cancel it even if the enemy is staggered to get his final death messenger.

This buff lasts until Calcharo takes damage or is swapped out."
Fixing the major flaw (giving timestop property to Necessary Means), along with releasing a competitive echo to Encore's Inferno Rider (Thundering Mephis taking too long and Tempest only providing partial benefits to Calcharo), should be enough to put Calcharo in that sweet spot of having slightly more potential than Encore for the increased risk and difficulty, whilst not having as much damage as premium characters such as Jinhsi (as premium characters should generally have more damage than standard characters).
Quite dirty tactic, and it sounds like something Mihoyo would do.
it happens with every character, makes the game almost unplayable imo
Mihoyo huh 🙈 I think so honestly, they had to nerf him to give even more of a reason to pull on yinlin, otherwise people immune to mommy-dom woulda skipped 🤷♂️

the worst thing atm for me is his camera bugg where it keeps zooming in so you miss e's resulting in everything you said
Worse than that is when he does that grabbing part during his non enhanced basic attacks. he becomes immobilized for a few seconds
Been maining Calcharo since Day 1. Here are my proposed list of changes for him:
If before calcharo gets revamped or buffed they need to do that Lingyang first 💀

I'm really hoping Kuro does some straight up balancing to their characters. There a lot of abilities in this game that just don't work or don't seem to work as intended. It seems like gacha developers try to avoid balance patches for some reason, which sucks. Some small tweaks here and there would do a lot.
Pgr does leaps which are buffs that were old characters get buffs and new animations
2 changes would make calcharo feel so much better:
+ 2 stacks on dodge counter
+ Make his stand do the forte slam instead
So no more dodge cancel his forte and he actually feel good to play
I have mostly given up on him.
he can be tuned, but if they make him too strong, they legally can't nerf him
@@evanleone8434 The issue is the current Calcharo is the release Calcharo.
7:49 Calcharo's stand is T-posing🤣
This video made me realise I don't really know how to use Calcharo effectively to even notice these problems...
There is a reason why he is the only 5 star not to get his own triller so I will keep building him
Man I wanted to main him alongside jiyan, but he's extremely hard to play perfectly since I'm on mobile
@MistAssassin69 Lmfao that is so wrong. But it's okay ig.
@@ZartKZur Sure let's check in a few weeks after he comes out and see if it happened
@MistAssassin69 I'm talking about the "quickswap playstyle is antisynergy" part. Him being still used or not doesn't make difference for me.

Skill issue I got 1 star in the lvl 90 heroin with Calcharo at lel 70

Just remember to punch something before you switch him out so you get the atk buff from the healer set.

So am not alone am also tired my numbness i feel in hands is too much
Calcharo has a lot of nuance when it comes to using his kit, and how you use it depends on the fight.
Current Calcharo is like:
a Danjin without her many s,
a Chixia without her dodge counter multiplier & her "E" shennaningans when you have sequences on her.
2:00 I actually find it easier to parry with Calcharo's first basic attack than a lot of other basic attacks that I've tried.
This Is why, my favorite and most fun character went from calcaro to Jinshi
I took Calcharo on the beginners banner just to pair him with Yinlin. Now the more I play Yinlin the more I realize there's almost no reason to swap out of her for Calcharo. My Yinlin has literally no Downtime. RS-RS-N4-HA-RL combo always guarantees I have Ult then just repeat again or swap to a support.
I want him to get buff. At least Interuption resistance during his Ult Mode.
Why use Electro on Thundering? They have electro resistance
7:50 phantom doing the t-pose
Still one of my favorite character in-game despite his high skill cap. The only downside with his kit is the forte circuit in his liberation do not stack up when doing dodge-counter and u'll lose DPS when bosses move too frequently. I have him at S1 and planning to get his S3 but I know it will take a while since I'm f2p.
Here’s what I think will make him great again
1. Increase the speed of his basic attacks and heavy attacks animation, as well as his skills to enable us to time parries and execute his combos
2. If calcharo dodges in between his BA4 or Heavy Attack, his phantom continues the attack. If he triggers a perfect dodge, the phantom does additional damage which is considered dodge counter. Calcharo himself doesn’t triggers dodge counter if this condition is met
3. Dodge counter in his liberation should count towards his stacks, while his ult duration should be extended
I think this is enough lol. Any more and he might power creep ji yan lol
Write this down in surveys to give the feedback, hopefully they’ll look into it and make him better
The absolute madness that they fix all calcharo problem by giving Xiangli Yao for free
NOW i always wondered why my chixia which is (600 atk/20crit rate/crit dmg) less than Calcharo
but still deal almost more dmg than he does
There are a few more factors that make Calcharo's gameplay super clunky and unenjoyable:
1. His attack knocks small mobs away from you, so you will have to dash to catch up to them to continue dealing damage (try E3 into Heavy Attack, you'll understand)
2. The current Electro Echo set doesn't work well with him at all. Currently we have 2 4-cost Electro Echos both need to hit their final attack in order to grant damage buffs.
- Tempest Mephis: 2-hit (not great compared to others, but fine enough) but provide bad buff (+Heavy Attack Damage)
- Thundering Mephis: 5-hit (too long, and super buggy) but provide good buff (+Resonance Liberation Damage)
Calcharo overall is not a bad character in design. He is great for players who want to play a more stylish playstyle, but he definitely needs more QoL updates.
I genuinely believed that we are not currently having his signature weapon. If, and when they release his signature weapon, I believe he will rank much higher in the dps scaling
Crit stats and SD with anti interuption passive would be great, I love my boi Calcharo
Forcing you to pull for a weapon that "fixes" his gameplay sounds awful.

Are we seeing Dehya same route? this is what happened when a cool character ends up
I got Calcharo on my first few pulls and loved it.
So he needs yuanwu shields at s4 to be viable?
I just recently 30/30 tower with my s0 calcharo/s0 yinlin team beating the the mourning aix and the heron. Sucks when the boss moves and you lose half your dps (had to do alot of delaying my rotation cause of that) but its still clearable.
Can you tell me what teams you used and basic rundown of level/investment, if you don't mind? Thanks.
I think the bell echo kinda fixes this problem since you get a moment of invincibility but only for one hit
7:50 nah this thing already convinced me that calcharo is a top tier character design 😎
I agree his kit is cluncky and the character is kinda mid but why the hell are you showing a boss fight with electro res when using calcharo !??😂
The best part is that I leveled this character to 80 since I have R1 Razor and he still feels bad to play and I kinda regret leveling him Ahhhhhhh.

Shielder? He can do that with s4
Healer and buffer? Use Cruisewing with healing set
More off field damage activation with yinlin & yuanwu + on field calcharo
As a Calcharo Main from week 1 I can say that his damage is pretty dependent on his rotations. Also using Thundering Memphis is a DPS loss, you're better off using Tempest for quick echo activation to get the buffs. I also realized how Calcharo is dependent on his teammates, so Yinlin specifically needs alot of building as well so as to cover that window when Calcharo's on the bench. Overall, I wouldn't say that he's a bad unit, he just needs ALOT of investments and skills to use. And yes, his damage is pretty low, and I wish they didn't nerf him pre-release.
But he the Strom that is Approaching
He's a debut char he was released in a state where he is supposed to be power crept by limited 5 star DPSers.
Hehhe with verdant summit and 290% crit damage he just deletes everything. Learn to build properly noob. Pair him up with verina and yinlin and he destroys everything
Ah yes, Saintontas... my anger translator. Great job, take my like.
Ironically, there are S0 Calcharo mains out there soloing all Holograms (except TM of course) and he's a standard banner character too.
Faster than danjin, is probably what they meant. the release massively debuffed him to the point that it's unbearable@@qwertysysysyysysysyzz
Nerfed to make way of 1.1 units 😂
Besides all the suggested changes, what if his ult stack is kept at 3 instead of 5? It is the heavy hitter that counts anyways.
