I'm a jazz newbee, you classy fellas can thank Gundam Thunderbolt for me being here. The UA-cam Algorithm said, "hey you like that soundtrack here's something similar" and I wasn't disappointed. This is beautiful music. You've earned a like and a subscription.
I first heard this tune around 1988 when I was like 17. It was always my favorite Wynton tune because it was so non-intuitive. I (as a non-musician back then) couldn’t tell where the top of the tune came back around because it wasn’t as obvious as your standard AABA song form). Decades later, I am amateur musician, and I finally can count this tune. It’s like a magic trick…once you know how it works, it loses a little bit of that mysterious magic. But It’s still an amazing composition and I think even Wynton would agree it’s his most popular tune for musicians to play…well on its’ way towards official “Jazz Standard” status. Thanks for blowing a young kid’s mind and turning him on to a lifelong obsession with this wonderful music, Wynton!
Agree 100%! It's interesting to hear how Wynton's playing has changed since the release of the Black Codes album nearly 30 years ago. It's also refreshing that Wynton still enjoys playing the small clubs.
Yeah!! it is a great one, I just discovered this inspired one "they can hate but we still swingin.." - New Jazz Underground (UA-cam) in fact is got me to search out Wynton lives.
anticipation for september ! so much of our shared history composed of truth ! this conversation will be revisited throughout time audited by those who are willing to hear .
"Delfeayo's Dilemma" such a great one! Lives on in 2022 "they can hate but we still swingin.." - New Jazz Underground (UA-cam)

Love this quintet. It's cool that wynton is revisiting his older music while still adding new ideas
This is the music that briefly made me a believer.

Beautiful...love watching the pianist and drummer watching each other for rhythmic accents.....SCHWINGING!
I love watching pros work through conflict in real time on the bandstand. To come out of it the way these guys did.... Incredible!
Love these Cats, they're all locked-in...amazing Quintet performance, with a fantastic sound 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Fabulous jazz, is there a complete uninterrupted performance of this gig to see?
They sound like one living breathing organism which I can appreciate because it’s hard to find that these days.
Right? Talk about dialed in. 😎
Great Gig, I was there.
