Very excited for these videos to finally be out! Maybe you'll cover this in another vid I haven't watched yet... but do you suggest, in the relations, populating the dimensions by using the actual "relations" editor window instead of within Pro/Program? We don't always know what the dimensions are ( like "P11", "P36", "D45", etc. ). since there may actually be an additional identifier to that dim, which it seems you can only populate by selecting the dimension in the graphics window - i.e. when you click a dim it would populate in the relations like "P11:id803" instead of merely "P11". Is there a way of knowing what conditions require this identifier? Is it just assemblies? Great videos by the way, much appreciated!
I’ve never tried. I recommend opening a ticket with PTC Tech Support. I’m guessing since Pro Program is used to generate geometry and integers are used to control pattern instances, it doesn’t allow negative numbers to avoid errors.
Sir please provide a video on Assembly with this same program command to create multiple instances like you done with single piece part on this video. Thanks for your contribution.
Hi sir. While creating the drawing sheet for the parts. When a feature is suppressed through pro programing, the dimension shown in the drawing for that feature remains visible. Can u please suggest me a solution to hide the feature dimension in drawing sheet when the feature is suppressed in part or assembly. Thanks a lot in advance.
You use a Family Table when you know the variations in advance. For example, when you are making different sized bolts or nuts. Pro/Program is used when you want to create variations based on user inputs when the model is regenerated. This reflects more of a Configure To Order (CTO) or Engineer To Order (ETO) manufacturing strategy. When using Pro/Program, you can use the Instantiate command to create Family Table instances based on the user inputs. Did this help answer your question?
Until CREO can import parameters from excel, the platform is inferior to competitors. Another method I have discovered for easily modifying parameter values: Place the value in an unattached note. Note reads ' = &' click on note -> double-click on the value -> dialog box opens allowing you to change the value of the parameter -> Regenerate
@@CADPLMGuy Yep - we can't do an automation project without Nitro-PROGRAM it just saves sooooo much time and keeps things visually clear vs debugging import errors, and/or incorrect logic problems, you can't understand in the "text editor". Pro/PROGRAM has its place... it is VERY useful and must be purpose-applied. You can lock things up quickly if you are not careful relative to re-use and management in PLM and increase management/complexity problems quickly if not planned properly. Definitely a capability that best applied from a knowledge / process ---produce--> dumb result approach vs something that is always available in released models. If you want to give it a try - just download and request a demo... I think you will dig it!
Looking forward to Pro/Program for Assembly.
The first one drops on Monday. You can find my video release schedule on my Patreon.

I show both methods in subsequent videos on Pro/PROGRAM in assemblies, James.
Can we have negative integers as input using Pro Program? I am unable to enter negative number.

Is it only possible to use notepad as editor for "program"? Or can I use something more advanced as the editor for "relations"?
No and no.

I’m not familiar with that issue. I recommend filing a ticket with PTC Tech Support.
@@CADPLMGuy thanks for ur response
Can we add an extra column to have different name for each instance? it is possible right?
Yes
Is it possible to have this cad model with pro program. It would be really helpful, like to check and edit. Thank you
No, sorry
whats the difference or relationship between familytree and proprogram?

Thq sir
This is EXACTLY why we created Nitro-PROGRAM....

Interesting stuff. Yeah, Pro/PROGRAM is not easy. I held off for the longest time on making the videos because I've never been great at it.
