Karl XII (1697-1718), also called carolus rex, in latin, is one of the most famous Swedish warrior kings, belonging to the Carolean Era and being a direct descendant of Karl XI and Karl X Gustav. They sing Carolus rise because the song is about him becoming the king of Sweden.

This was just done earlier this year. Erik fully recovered from cancer treatment, which was in 2021. When this was released, Erik was on tour in Canada with Skid Row and he would leave the band shortly after that. Tommy also left Sabaton earlier in the year but still his his own band Majestica. Both singers are doing more solo work and other collaborative projects (with other musicians). Cheers!

Above the sky is a great song by Tommy Johanssons own band Majestica. All of the members have a solo and there is also a bass guitar solo.

It's called Carolus Rex and it's about the Swedish king Karl XII who was only 15 years old when he became king. This song you sing is what he says to his soldiers before they go to war.
    Carolus Rex
    Lyrics
    Everyone embraces me
It's my time to rule at last
    Fifteen years I have waited
    To sit on my throne
    No fidelity
I will not swear any oath
Crowned by God, not by the Church
, Because my power is divine
They thought I was too young to rule the country
    Just like they didn't understand
    Born to rule
    My time has come
    I am chosen by heaven
Say my name when you pray
    To the skies
    See Carolus rise Med
    the lord my protector
Make them bend to my will
    To the skies
    Watch Carolus rise
    To the skies
    Watch Carolus rise
    Proven in battle
    Led my men to victory
No man, living or dead, commands me
    I answer before the Lord
    Hear my commands
    Ask me and die
What I say has been said in heaven
    And so it shall happen
I know I was meant to rule alone
All for myself I have claimed the throne
    Born to rule
    My time is now
    I am chosen by heaven
Say my name when you pray
    To the skies
    See Carolus rise Med
    the lord my protector
Make them bend to my will
    To the skies
    Watch Carolus rise
    To the skies
    Watch Carolus rise
    [Spoken words by Joakim Brodén:]
    Forward Karoliner
The judgment of the enemy is here
    Let's crush them
Cast them through the gates of hell
All that is yours shall be mine, there is nothing that can stop me
All over Europe my rule shall be questioned by no one
All I see give me, that's my decision:
    My will be done
They thought I was too young to rule the country
    Just like they didn't understand
    Born to rule
    My time is now

Thank you for your reaction. Our golden boys of Sweden. Well I think you are ready to look at Tommys own band Majestica now. They are absolutely amasing.
So here are a couple of songs to check out
    Metal united - ua-cam.com/video/UO37wJG1j2k/v-deo.html
They did a christmas calender some years ago with a new song every day from 1:st until Dec 24:th.
This song, Joy of Christmas shows Tommys skill on piano - ua-cam.com/video/p72uHnOY7C8/v-deo.html
This is from the story Ghost of Marley - ua-cam.com/video/B_RKRbA9gRY/v-deo.html
During the time Tommy was in Sabaton, his band was more or less on pause. He left Sabaton to focus on Majestica again and now they have recorded a new album. This song was released some weeks ago, called a new beginning - ua-cam.com/video/aqW7wHNCc9M/v-deo.html
And as a bonus. This is one of the first songs written and recorded by Tommy and the band Majestica some 22 years ago when he was 15 years old, but in those days the band was called Reinxeed. Tommy rerecorded this song 2 years ago. This is intense but wow, amasing.
    The Light - ua-cam.com/video/pxwo77TEo3w/v-deo.html
    ENJOY !!!

The insane part of Tommy is that he plays every instrument he needs to play. If he doesnt know how to play it, he will at a pretty high level after a couple of days. He is just incredible skilled👍🏼🎸

I love Erik and Tommy dearly. That being said, they lack the deep demanding voice that Joakim in Sabaton has. If you haven't heard the original, I encourage you to do so.

I agree. Tommy and Erik are brilliant in this cover, but Sabaton's original is a must see. As someone said, when they sing you hear 2 great singers singing a great song. When Joakim sings it, you hear king Karl telling you better do as he commands or else...

Joakim is better as a songwriter, while Erik is a pro-singer and Tommy is an all-round power-house that should do "Hair". Nonetheless, this is one of the most powerful Swedish metal songs ever. Rivalling Final Countdown by Europe, Rising Force by Ynwie Malmsteen, and anything done by other heavy metal/hard rock groups (Ghost etc etc etc).....

I was chosen by heaven, say my name when you pray. This is what every Nordic man thinks when he steps out of the house. It is in our genes and can never rid ourselves of our pagan roots. We are the last bastion of a lot of things in the world.

I would recommend looking into the origin of the current Swedish royal family. 'The Cinderella Story of Sweden's French King' by SideQuest - Animated History is a nice fun one for that. Some are born to power and some just earn it.

    King Karl XII
At the time of his father's death, Karl was 15 years old but was declared to have come of age six months later. As an autocratic king, he did not feel the need for the approval of the church and therefore declined a coronation. However, with the crown already on his head, he rode to Stockholm Cathedral to be anointed with holy oil.

I know! I sucked in this one, but trust me, when you’re put on the spot, you would be surprised how much information just disappears from your brain, lol! It is a blind reaction as well, so it’s all “in the moment”… maybe I should revise that, haha!
I’ll have to check out the original song, this was my first time hearing it. Thanks for taking the time, even though it was mostly to make fun of me, lol! ✌🏻
