The white rapper in the group, El-P, produces all the beats. I swear Run the Jewels songs could be instrumentals on their own. I'm glad you appreciate the experimental production. I'm a mega fan and have been for years, but this one isn't even my favorite album. I'll def watch if you check their other albums out. You about nailed the "all-lives-matter ass white folk" line. "All lives matter" was only created as a pushback to "black lives matter." No one ever said other lives didn't matter. I'm glad you liked the first track, Down. I think it's one of their most underrated tracks, and its probably my second favorite album opener out of the 4. RTJ 2 is my favorite though. And glad you picked up on the samples. There's tons more I don't even recognize. El-P would probably kill himself if he heard you compare him to Vanilla Ice I think, just to let you know.
I remember gripping this album when it came out on Xmas eve for free. The beats got me so hype it was full blast on repeat for the trip to the fam :D RTJ is solid hiphop, maybe not the best, but will at least get you moving
Great vid!! I’d love to see you go through the other Run The Jewels albums. RTJ 1 2 & 4 are just as good probably even better! They’re the best rap duo in the game rn. I also appreciate you being honest about the songs and saying when you don’t fw it. Also I’m sure other comments have said this a bunch but El-P is the other half of RTJ he does all the production along with rapping. Anyways cheers 🤙
Also haha your reaction to Danny Brown being “Why he sound like that” is mad funny but so true. He’s got a great discography also but his inflection on his voice is definitely a hurdle lol
RTJ the best. El-P produces all the beats. He's a legend and has an excellent discography. Dudes been producing crazy shit since the 90's. Check out "Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein" if you want to hear some of his best work.
I like your take of the album. Danny Brown is certainly a aquired states when Jpegmafia and his album Scaring the Hoes They are the modern day reincarnation of underground DIY like Run the Jewels. They started because El-P produced Killer Mile 's Rap Music and that was because and Adult Swim Cartoon Network exec got them together. El-p is a celebrted NYC underground legend with Company Flow, and hos solo stuff and his production on his record label from 1999 to 2009 pretty much Definitive Jux. Killer Mike is affiliated with Outkast and his album Michael is so amazing. He is one of the lyrical Atlanta rappers. He was sighned to Ti's label in a different way to RTJ 2 is my favorite more pissed off and have more classic tracks. All of them have bangers and are worth a listen.
The track Thursday in the danger room El-p's part was about losing his friend underground rapper Camu Tao to cancer that's why Run the Jewels gave him a friend in Killer Mike and the spark to have fun rapping again.
I get it with Danny Brown on Bumaye. He has a weird ass voice and weird ass flow. He's not my shit. But he comes into the end of that track like a psychopath, and IMO makes that track go from pretty good to top tier. My favorite on the album.
Fire reaction. Alot of these songs will grow on you. Trust 🙏. Run the jewels is fire🔥

i reckon 3tearz is their best collab
I love RTJ. This is the weakest of their 4 albums imo though. I think 2 or 4 are better introductions for folks who are new to the group.
2 is def in top lists
