Nice to listen to a more recent and relevant interview with Roy Hargrove. One of those trumpeters that, at the top of his game, brings music, and especially jazz, to such a high level. Every generation or so, a talent comes along that you recognize immediately as special - definitely RH is such a talent. Really appreciate the research it must have taken to make this such an excellent interview.
Ohhh , Roy Hargrove I love you. Roy is a good friend , I was planning to meet him in NY soon but the weather is not good now, me and my friend were very close to him in 1995 in Riviera hotel at jazz festival in Cuba . He is amazingly talented , sweet and humble , God bless , come to UK to the Jazz Cafe so many Jazz lovers are waiting for you, I will definitely come to see you. Oh so happy to see this interview.
I dig Roy teasing his host when he used the big word "extrapolate". It just shows his playful side. The rest of the information that Roy shared in this interview I've heard Roy talk about before in other interviews. His time at Bradley's is something I always wished that someone would have asked him about in more detail. I know that he spent a great deal of time there with legends like John Hicks and Mulgrew Miller. But there were so many great pianists who frequented that place that I just wish that I had been on the scene back then.
Missing this brother..RIP
Me too, I been listening to his music & been teary eyed since his death. Such an amazing person & musician. ❤
Roy .... great interview ! Your music lives on !

There is an early album of Roy with Strings, when I first heard him play, I knew the future of jazz was secure.
Always the coolest and hip to much. Great player, writer, musician, sorely missed. Thank you Roy.
