Hawaiian Garlic Fried Chicken

  • Here's my instructional video for Hawaiian Garlic Fried Chicken Wings! These make great appetizers or you can serve it with rice and a side of mac salad or another salad of your choice to make a full meal. Hope you enjoy these as much as my family does!
    Ingredients:
    1 1/2 lb chicken wings
    1 tsp roasted sesame seeds
    Cooking oil
    Garlic Sauce Ingredients:
    1 cup soy sauce
    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup minced garlic
    2 tbsp sesame oil
    2 chopped green onions
    Note: you will not need to use all the sauce for the serving size of wings that I cooked. You can store the remaining sauce in a jar in the fridge. The sauce can be used to marinade meats or fish for grilling/bbq, as a dipping sauce or a sauce to make stir fry noodles.
    Batter Ingredients:
    1/2 cup all purpose flour
    1/2 cup corn starch
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    Instructions:
    1. Prepare the garlic sauce by adding all ingredients into a pot and cook until it boils then turn off heat.
    2. Combine all batter ingredients together and coat wings evenly.
    3. Fry the wings in cooking oil until they are golden and crispy. You don't want to put too many wings in the pan and overcrowd it so cook in multiple batches if necessary.
    4. Once all wings have been fried put them all back in the pan again for one extra minute for extra crunchiness! This is called double frying. Wings will have a darker golden color and another layer for crispiness.
    5. Remove wings from the pan and put them in a bowl.
    6. Add about 1/2 cup of garlic sauce to the bowl and toss the wings coating them evenly. Add more sauce if you prefer.
    7. Sprinkle some roasted sesame seeds on top and you're done!
