    His changed position is common. We are tested in our faith when God permits people we love to do things that are completely contrary to His word and put them in a hostile position to God. It is such a hard position to be in when you have to choose between God and those you love, but choose we must. It's unfortunate that he is a pastor. God's word specifically says what is better than leading people away from Him in Mark 9:42..."Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea.
    It seems more prudent that he step down as a pastor. We see what happened with Sodom and Gomorrah and in Romans 1:19-32, especially 1:27. I have no judgment here, just pointing out what is written in the Bible. I pray I am able to stand firm in God's Truth when tested.

    In a word, yes. The Bible is the final authority in our lives because it is God's personal revelation to us (2 Tim 3:16-17). So when we answer these questions, we have to first ask; "what does the Bible say about this?", not; "what do my experiences tell me about this?" I think you're referring to some of the penalties that are ordained against homosexual practice in Leviticus. I would say that those punishments are specific to the theocracy of Israel, which God used to communicate the sinful

      @Jeremyn_03 The prologue to John clearly states the axiomatic reality " In the beginning ( before the written word/logos) was the Word...and the Word was with (koine greek pros turned towards face to face with) God and the Word was God. The Word became flesh ( koine greek sarx ...meaning Adamic sinful twisted fallen flesh) and pitched His tent with us.
      As Dietrich Bonhoeffer points out in his work on Christology ..Jesus Christ is a person not an idea. Thus is essential....otherwise the Bible becomes the word of God and takes precedence over people in with and through whom the Word made Flesh Dwells.

    nature of homosexuality and the ultimate cost it has, leading to spiritual death, as all other sins do (Rom. 6:23). Though these punishments were specific to the people of Israel in that part of redemptive history, surely we can't make the leap to say it isn't sinful today. The entire scope of the Bible tells us otherwise. We see it in the heterosexual created couple (Gen. 2), multiple OT examples showing its sinfulness (Gen. 19; Judges 19), direct prohibition (Lev. 20), and NT's teaching on

    A number of gay Christian opponents rail against same gender relations citing certain Biblical passages such as the story of Sodom in the Old Testament or Romans in the New as if their view of these passages and our Lord's will were one and the same. References to same gender relations in Genesis 19:5 revolve around the word "know" or "yadda" in the original Hebrew. This term has SEVERAL different definitions. So it is not certain this is an actual reference to homosexuality, MUCH less all types of same gender relations such as marriage.Romans 1:18-32 may be the most exploited passage of the New Testament. The people Paul mention in this passage FIRST turned away from our Lord in favor of pagan rituals as Romans 1:23 and 25 strongly suggest. Some attempt to prop their claim that this passage is entirely anti-same gender by citing Paul's mention of the words "natural" and "unnatural" in Romans 1:26-27. This is even though Paul had what may be considered a rather dubious view of nature as evidenced in 1st Corinthians 11:13-15 in which he states women with short hair as well as men with long hair (like Christ?) are outside of nature. It is perhaps the misuse of these and other verses that has led to such a degree of hostility against the same gender oriented by churches and other spiritual organizations, that even the very leaders of a number such institutions have stood up to say "enough."And I am never more prayerful for the non-Christian, agnostic or atheist than I am the fellow Christian who second guesses our Lord on matters of ultimate judgement that are for Him ALONE to decide.

  • @BrianJuntunen
    @BrianJuntunen 11 років тому +1

    We never did kill, or I should say the church should not kill based on anything. We are under the law of Christ. The law was for the nation of Israel and it reveals the righteousness of God, but for instance, King David should have been put to death for adultery, but he was spared by decree through the prophet and in Psalm 51 we discover the grace of God. God does however command that men everywhere repent. That means to give up anything that is sin, and sin is revealed in the law.

  • @clay56
    @clay56 10 років тому +1

    The Gospels are silent on the issue of same gender relations. This has sadly NOT kept many from exploiting them in an effort to "prove" Christ condemned the same gender oriented. Such actions could create problems between our Lord and those doing this involving the Ninth Commandment which Christ upheld in Matt. 19:18. It is therefore good that these people have the prayers of forgiveness from many of the very ones they strive to condemn.

  • @clay56

    1st Timothy 1:10 has been offered up in response to the statement that the Gospels are silent on the issue of same gender relations.
    The obvious problem with this response is that this verse is NOT part of the Gospels of Christ but one of the epistles of the apostle Paul. Perhaps in a zealous haste to respond, the Gospels were being confused with the rest of the New Testament.
    Another less obvious problem is that the part of this verse many take as homosexuality revolves around a Greek term believed by many to have been created by Paul himself. It is the fusion of the Greek words for "man" and "bed." But since Paul did not define the word attributed to him, it is uncertain he was speaking to homosexuality at all, MUCH less all types of same gender relations such as marriage.
