    I literally started playing bloodborne the day before yesterday, this has been stuck in my head!
    I basically don't know anything about the cello, but I'm impressed by those harmonics. What a versitile instrument. Just by listening I wouldn't be able to tell it's not an ensemble. Brilliant cover, really makes me want to learn cello!

    I play guitar and learned classically to a decent level - I’ve always had a fascination with the cello and I have to say I’m blown away by the accuracy of your performance here. Seriously well done, I’m going to be listening to this quite a few times haha! Really makes me want to give the cello a go, I love it.

      Thank you!
      To answer your question: Not that long. I do so much arranging for work that my ears have gotten pretty adept at "zooming in" on parts. This was one day of listening and recording, and I think an additional day of mixing and video editing.

  • @HeelPower200

    Its so heartbreaking. Your performance is spellbinding. In technical classical music terms, is this considered an aria or lament of sorts ? Are there other pieces in the cannon similar to it?
    I consider myself an experienced classical music listener but I am just stumped by the hunter's dream. It sounds totally unique to me.

    • @oskarpalmhelmersson
      @oskarpalmhelmersson  2 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment. I would think of this as an instrumental "chant". The call-and-response structure is the main clue. The constant pedal-point is another, and since the game has A LOT of religious themes and symbolism I tend to think that's what Ryan Amon was going for.
      As to similar pieces, "Hail The Nightmare" (another Bloodborne track) is an actual chant, although completely different in character, but similar in structure. Finding something similar in the realm of classical music might prove tricky, since this type of relatively "static" composing is quite modern. The "hub themes" in the souls-games all tend to stick to a similar mood though.

      @HeelPower200 2 роки тому

      @@oskarpalmhelmersson Thank you so much for the detailed response!
      I hadn't thought of the renaissance inspiration behind this. That makes a lot of sense now.
      Again, your performance and intonation are so incredible. Especially in bringing out the human vocals.

      If you dig this kind of sound maybe look for motets from Palestrina or Tallis (he wrote a beast of a piece with 40 independant voices, lol). It‘s choral music. There‘s also cool instrumental music by Josquin. Hope this gives your music discovery Journey! Not exactly the same as modern soundtracks, but surely where the inspiration for it originates.

The part where some woman (maybe the doll) sing or hymn in the background, you even capture them here! Bravo bravo bravo! Cant wait for future upload! Keep up the good work!
