I just ordered a blush with the new formula. When you asked , I could see the difference. I hope that they are good even if just different
I think the new blushes are not bad. I think the old ones already had such a huge fanbase that it's hard for a newcomer, essentially a replacement to be instantly just as loved. I think if the new blush will wore about as long and blend nicely, that's pretty good.
I am 55. Been using makeup a long time. All products change over time in every company. If you use makeup long enough you come to expect it; and it sucks when you love something and it goes away. 😞 Currently loving Clinique blushes (not the pop ones; the other ones in the larger compacts). Gorgeous formula.
This is a great point. I suspect they removed mineral oil amongst other things to comply with EU standards, but there was no press release so hard to say the reason behind it.
Appreciate the thoughts of someone who wasn't already familiar with the old formula. The shades you chose aren't ones I have (I have Malice, Rosewood, and Jersey in the old formula). I've ordered the Brun Rouge in the new formula, but haven't received it yet; apparently it replaces the old Evening Beige. I also heard that Rosewood is being replaced by a new shade called Rose Ruban, while Malice and Jersey have been reformulated. I'd be interested in the sequel to this video.
My pleasure! It was overwhelming to choose the shades to compare. They are all beautiful. Of the shades you have, which do you enjoy the most? I have been looking at all three. Brun Rouge look so different than Evening Beige from photos, but I guess it's not supposed to be a one to one replacement. I did see Rose Ruban as well. Beautiful shades, but I am very distracted with the old formulas right now. ha

The new formula for both looks better to me, at least on my monitor. The Rouge Profond looks gorgeous, brighter in the new, while the old looks kind of drab and washed out. Both of the new appear less drab. Thank you for this demo.
Thank you! My lighting can skew some shades, but I agree the new formulas are a touch brighter. The old formulations tend to be silkier and goes on smoother.
I like the old formulation.
I think that is the consenus for sure.

Is Chanel trying to make better products or products that are cheaper to manufacture?
I have some guesses, but they are just my opinion. It is possible the ingredients needed for the old formula became more costly and/or difficult to source so they had to change it. The other possibility is they wanted to revitalize interest in the product so re-formulating allows for generating renewed interest for the product. Those who enjoy the old formula will now go out to buy more of it and those who haven't tried these blushes (like me) are enticed to try. I ended up buying 2x as much as I would for review purposes. ;)
Personally, I think they could've released all new shades using the new formula and keep producing old shades for some years and slowly phase them out. That may be the plan, but I'm not sure, because of how they reused the names of the existing shades. Yet, the new ones are not dupes of the old.
@@MichiMakesUp I think you are absolutely right. Times are tough and all business are cutting cost. Chanel probably looked at it a way to generate interest for their products while at the same time make it cheaper.

Is interesting how companies change the formula in their products but the new formulas are not always the hit for the consumers. It happens with me in certain occasions. I think the shade Petals is very pretty but I like the matte formula on blushes much better . I am sorry you though you were filming but you're not . I get frustrated when that it happens. I could not tell which one is old and which is new formula but I bet Tracey can tell 😀. Have a beautiful day and thank you for the review ! 😘
Hi Julia, I used to use skincare products from a brand called 100% Pure Cosmetics. I enjoyed their moisturizers and a few other items, but they would reformulate, change packaging and rename the products every year unless they are best sellers. I just couldn't keep up anymore and decided to switch altogether to a more stable brand. Hopefully I don't make that mistake again. It was good that the segment was short! It is quite annoying when that happens.

The new one look like they pulled out all the moisture from the powder 😂 like it so dehydrated idk I am freaking out like I need to buy the old colors before they wipe it out
The new formula is still really smooth, but different and not quite the shimmer and radiance. I think buying one old shade of choice every month may be a good strategy!
