Royal Caribbean Buffet Breakfast - Anthem of the Seas Windjammer Cafe

- Dining onboard a cruise ship is an important part of what makes or breaks a cruise! I love the variety in Royal Caribbean's Windjammer Cafe, but some people are unhappy with it. What do you think?

That smoked salmon at the very end was the cherry on the top for me. Great job!
Peach yogurt, banana, milk, hash browns sausage, scrambled eggs hope you have a great time ! Thanks for taking me with you I have Ben following you for about a year and a half , Thomas from Saint Augustine Florida 💜🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢
I am on Anthem right now . I love their variety.. Thank you Morgan for wonderful videos. You are the reason we decided to try the Anthem ..
Michele hope you had a great cruise. How was the "traffic flow" at the Windjammer buffet vis a vis crowds and lines? Also - how was the food? Was it somewhat fresh hot etc? Thanks
Always went the buffet for lunch and breakfast occasionally. The main dining room buffet was nice for breakfast, less options but all the essentials and more fresh fruit like strawberries
Looks good! Can’t wait to be there!
I love the breakfast on Anthem of the seas to me it is the best thing the Windjammer has to offer, wish I was there now :)
For savoury breakfast I would go Omelet with ham and cheese or the eggs benedict!! with side of bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, grilled tomatoes, buttered toast. For a sweet breakfast, I would go for the strawberry pancake or waffles with blueberries, strawberry sauce and whip cream! Hungry just typing this out haha
Cant wait to hop in!
I would try all the things I’ve never had before, or at least a little of as many as I could because I love trying new foods :) anddddd I would top it off with one of those amazing looking donuts or muffins! And I would make myself a fancy coffee like you have made! 😋
I’ve never been on a cruise(it’s a dream!!) and I am blown away by how many options there are there! I feel like even if I chose to go there each day it would be no issue at all!!
So many options! I would love a ham and cheese omelette! The fruit looked good but so did the bacon mountain, crispy just the way I like it! I didn’t see any chocolate cake doughnuts though, they are my favorite. I’m not a big fan of oatmeal and the Asian food didn’t look to good but I’m not very adventurous with food. Thanks for sharing the buffet with us!
The breakfast looks delicious and various!
The Windjammer on Anthem is really excellent. I thought the variety was excellent and food was excellent.
Thank you so much for this video. I was trying to figure out if plain coffee was included with breakfast. Thanks to your video, I now know that it is included. I am overwhelmed by the choices. I would probably get an omelette with veggies.
Potatoes, grilled tomatoes, sauteed veg from the omelette station (just ask), cream of rice with fruit. Oh. So. Many. Choices. 😋
Great video!
Leaving on March 1St. Usually do eggs or omelette with potatoes or oatmeal and fresh fruit. We’ve never been on a large RCL ship. Getting excited!
I don't know If the Anthem is like the Rhapsody, but my my favorite was one of those ham and arugula croissants in the solarium café .It's so peaceful there in the mornings. Breakfast is too early to deal with 1) the herd and 2) the grease-fest in the Windjammer. Also, LMAO at the windjammer serving last night's fruit soups as smoothies . I used to sneak the soup into a glass after dinner to do the same thing! X-D
You food hacker, you!
No Fruit Loops for me!! I do like muesli for breakfast on a cruise & a made to order veggie & cheese omelet! Also enjoy fresh fruit (a fruit cup is nice)! I also like smoked salmon & sliced cheeses (Havarti is nice) - and a whole grain roll with butter. Maybe a Danish pastry or a bran muffin & a pot of hot tea with lemon & honey!!
The only time I’ve had rice for breakfast was when I was in Hawaii!!
No fried fish for breakfast!!
Feel better soon.
Home-made omelette, a few bacon or salami, donut or croissant and coffee with milk. Enough for me.
Very nice!
More selection than carnival. Since I’m now celiac, I usually just go for sausage eggs and fruit for breakfast and some cheese. I tend to go overboard on cheese when cruising.
In June, I am going on a 9 day cruise on Anthem of the Seas. I can't wait to try the Windjammer!
I wish I was going with!
LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEE The Windjammer!
That's a pretty good looking breakfast
I've had that buffet many times! lol and i would put on my plate: Bacon, Tater Tots, some Fruit and an Omelet with Ham/Onions/Peppers/Cheese/Salsa
Hi Morgan on a long cruise one of each different everyday
The Asian breakfast items looked really good to me. I don't usually go for sweet things like pancakes and syrup or donuts.
Yummy. Fruit oatmeal bacon eggs home fries croissant COFFEE!!
Do they have truvia or stevia packets for coffee?
Always-breakfast: scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns with coffee
Never-breakfast: fruit, yogurt, pastries, pancakes/waffles (high glycemic bad)
I just wanted to say hello Morgan!!!!!
Hi Margie!
I will always grab sausages and hash browns if they have them. Lots of variety in that buffet though.
Looking at this during Corona pandemic time, I am cringing at all the ppl using the same tongs..guess there will be some good changes that come out of this pandemic as far as food safety on ships are concerned. I too am not a breakfast person so my meal of choice would be cereal with milk, a cup of coffee, and a glass of cranberry/orange juice mixed. Due to my lap band I have had for 15 years that limits what type of food I can eat, I am a cheap date when it comes to food...
I can’t eat those scrambled but the fresh fried eggs or omelette are good
I will be on the anthem of the seas in about two weeks
that makes me so hungry! how bout you? 😃 I wish I had to go to Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas Windjammer Buffet Display next year or next year after on the 2021-2022. I think. PS Tell the cruise captain to stay away from the bigger waves in the Ocean. Hahahahahaha 😜🤪🤣😂👏
I love their buffet and we prefer to dine in the Windjammer
Id try the beetrootwater, fresh fruits salade, cheese, grilled tomatoes, the egg benedict, and any sort of whole wheat roll. Id skip my daily yoghurt with a choice like that.
crikey, the choice never ends!
Now I'm hungry!
Hahahahahaha 😂 Me too! I'm hungry too!
I would try the beetroot juice. The breakfast ham, bacon, or sausage, hash browns, the flower-shaped waffles and a lot of fresh pineapple. I'll wash it down with some herbal tea. Traditional and boring but hearty!! We have booked this as our next cruise😁
Great! Now you already know what you will have for breakfast! :-P
This is a huge variety of food!
I agree, but people write to me all the time to say they were disappointed with the selection in the buffet!?!?! I don't get it!
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides you would have to be a massive picky eater to find nothing on that buffet. What would you eat at home that you didnt find there???
I agree a bacon mountain is a bit much. A small bacon hill will do nicely.
A bacon molehill, perhaps?
I will just have salad and fruits or bagel and fruit salad. thanks for sharing.
Sounds very healthy!
Thaaaaaaanks. Now I’m hungry 😋. But in all seriousness, I don’t think I pick just a few things, but I’d try to eat healthy with blueberry pancakes, fruit, maybe a parfait, scrambled eggs and would stay away from tomatoes 🍅.
#baconmountain . I'd try.. Beetroot water
TL:DR I'd eat/try most of the buffet.
On plate(s)
Muesli (love it)
Put some extra dates on my plate and put it near the bacon.
Home fries, stewed tomatoes, breakfast sausage, both buttermilk and chocolate pancakes, waffles,
Def going for the omelet station, maybe an eggs benedict one day.
Probably most of the asian section..Indian scrambled eggs sounds like something I should try to make at home.
Croissants for sure.
Coffee is 50/50 for me, I don't like mine too bitter so it depends on how much they roasted the beans before brewing it.
Danishes- Haven't had those in a long time.
Not touching- "scrambled eggs"(the ones not at the egg station) they look like they came out of a store's frozen section.
Something for everyone that's for sure...........
First I'd tackle #baconmountain and get the crispiest pieces I could find. Then I'd hit up all the cold cuts and cheeses. Finally, I'd get an omelet, cooked in butter snatched from the Bakery, with all the veggies. Pre-Keto, I'd have dived into the hash, the croissants, all the fresh melons and the hash browns. Mmm mmmm!
Would have loved to see some gluten free bread/pastry options, but then I'd just want to eat it all! I would totally devour #baconmountain, hard boiled eggs and the grilled tomatoes looked really good too!
They have gluten free pastries.
Mmmmm delicioso
I would feel pressured to try the beetroot water just because it was offered so many times at the start of the buffet. It wouldn’t cross my mind normally, but perhaps I’d be missing out if I passed it up? Then I’d get fresh cut fruit, a grilled tomato, French toast, and the #baconmountain.
is it bad that i want to go on a cruise just for the food. It sounds ridiculous when i say it out loud
I was on anthem for my last cruise in March on 2019. Le sigh.....My hubbys 50th birthday cruise in April on symphony of the seas was of course cancelled. I think I ate in the windjammer once for breakfast. Went down the the little cafe next to two 70 more often.
Oh ya, that place had some interesting sandwich and salad options, right? What kind of stuff did they have for breakfast?
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides cereals, Bagels with cream cheese, tomato lox capers, and sandwich wraps.. Also breakfast burritos that were heated in a microwave. The bagels were toasted. Muffins and Donuts. They also had a little coffee shop in there too. I had the drink package so I got a fancy coffee there ..
I would have to pick up the fruit and yogurt and maybe a strawberry pancake or waffle of some sort. Cheese and #baconmountain on the very last day though!! 🍉🍌🍊🍓🥞🥓🧀 EDIT: SPRINKLE DONUT PLEASE 🍩
Did you try the beetroot water? (gag me) Th Coca-Cola machine was just like going to Jack-in-the-Box.....LOL
No! No beet root water for me!
My next cruise is booked on anthum. Did you happen to see a Gluten Free area in the windjammer. If not that's cool and Thanks for another great video. As for what I would choose. Eggs and Yogurt with fruit. If have gluten free I would add some toast.
There are gluten-free items listed, and otherwise you just ask the people serving and they will assist you. You are going to love the Anthem!
Very unOfficial Travel Guides thank you for your very fast reply.
I try to eat fewer carbs because it's good for my health, so I eat a lot of meats and protein things. For me it would depend on what time I was eating breakfast... really early would be fruit (including an orange and some grapes), some cheese, maybe milk to drink, and coffee. Later in the morning I'd be more inclined to eat more... an egg (omelet with bell peppers, tomato, mushrooms and lots of cheese), bacon, sausage, and a couple of those grilled tomatoes, plus an orange juice and a milk to drink... and coffee. I might have a couple of the grilled potatoes as well, but that would be about all I could fit into me. :) I'd probably grab an apple and a pear as a snack for later in the day. What time does the breakfast buffet end? Because I really like breakfast foods at any time of the day. Given the chance, I think I'd eat breakfast all day long. :)
Those waffles were really quite pretty... and hubby would probably eat at least one of them because he does enjoy a good waffle. I don't eat onions or fish but am willing to give most things a try as long as they don't have those in them.
I think breakfast finishes at 10:30, but I'm not really sure as I am never there! :-P
no black pudding?? :( I love the salmon at the end.
No to cold cereal.
Depending on mood just about anything else depending on mood of the day.
I have not been on Royal yet and I really want to so I can compare it to Carnival since I've already done a few. I recently sailed on Carnival Panorama and overall was not thrilled with the food. It was mostly average and nothing really blew me away, and that was both the paid restaurants and the Lido buffet. I hear Royal is better in both. Two years ago I sailed on Princess ship Royal Princess and the buffet was a lot better than Panorama. I like to judge a cruise by it's buffet and wondering which cruise line between Royal, Carnival and NCL) has the better buffet and food overall? Thoughts anyone?
I found rc food much better than Princess and more options/variety
I was happy with his buffet.
The food problem was ice cream.
Soft sever hours were poor. The machine was down a long period of time.
The last night they gave hard ice cream but they horded it. Only one scoop per person.
😂
Never seen beet root juice on any buffet
Had to look up definition of congee.
Anyway, always would be 3 meats: ham, sausage, #baconmountain, then pineapple, and a bite of either waffle, pancake, or French toast.
Never: any cereal, danish, or bread
Nice video!
Thanks! Are you hungry now?
Very unOfficial Travel Guides Sure am! :)
Yummy!
Fruit. Yogurt. Definitely #baconmountain. Oh, gimme some of them taters. Eggs. I take a donut. My beverage of choice would be a strong bloody mary hold the celery. I'd probably go in for a second pastry. Definitely a second bloody Mary. That was an amazing amount of food. Daym.
This was very helpful! I have a gluten allergy, so it’s a bummer not to have allergen labels on some of the less-obvious items (although you might feel the same way at times as a vegetarian!). Did you happen to see how they were handling allergies/preferences?
Hey Tiny, sorry, I didn't really pay attention to that, but I'm sure that if you mention your restrictions, they do everything they can!
Tiny Fitness i am gluten sensitive -not celiac- and there are gluten free options available on NCL- you need to ask ahead of time and be prepared to wait. I was able to get a gf pizza made to order from the pizza station. It wasn’t on the placard so I asked. They also have gluten free pastas and breads available- just not out in the buffet- you have to ask. I let them know at registration.
Very unOfficial Travel Guides thank you, I appreciate your reply! That’s great to know.
Moon Shine that’s awesome info, thank you! As a personal trainer, I have clients who travel even more often than I do, so those are tips I will be able to use this month for them!! It’s also great to see footage like this of all the healthy options that are available so I can help them plan their choices.
Tiny Fitness there are tons of healthy choices. You just need to be creative and flexible. I am mostly wfpbgf. I am able to eat plenty on a cruise. Its not like at home with my homemade nut cheeses and cashew cream sauces but its a cruise and I don’t have to cook. There is added oils and butters to some things but not everything.
Don’t worry, I am a vegetarian too. I get lots of fruit on my cruises to eat
Donut and coffee, then banana on my way out.
I am a vegetarian and I eat plenty of fruits in the morning on all my cruises
..torture.. pure torture.... I'm going to just go crawl into a corner...
Yogurt, fruit, eggs , ham.(splurge! Waffle) coffee, enhanced water.
Wait! Go back the bar! Is there a sign that says "Breakfast Whiskey"? Hope you feel better soon.
Renee Jones you need to visit Dublin for that! I was at a lovely pub for breakfast and asked “is it too early for breakfast whiskey”? The waitress, without missing a beat said “arrch, it’s *never* too early for whiskey in Dublin” and proceeded to suggest ‘hot whiskey’ as a suitable breakfast drink. It was lovely, I had two, perfect with my Irish pork sausages, eggs, tomatoes etc.
julie Wallis Great story!!! Definitely going to Dublin!!
Definitely the Lox!
Richard Bergmark what is lox?
Cured/pickled salmon...very good!
I WOULD HAVE A BUNCH OF NAPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lox, red onion, cheese and Tabasco
And a Bloody Mary, perhaps? :-P
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides Nah but maybe a Long Island or two. Maybe a cold vodka lemonade.
PS: Dig this channel
A big no to #baconmountain from me. From the looks of this I think my options were whole fruit, fruit salad and perhaps some of the breads with PB and jam. I didn't see any makings of a hot breakfast suitable for vegans such as veggie sausage, baked beans, grilled mushrooms, hash browns or potatoes, did you see anything like that? It also seemed as though the muesli was already premixed with milk which I found a bit odd? What did you go for Morgan?
I love me some breakfast, but what I always want is takes time to make so I usually do not get it. sad face :(. So for me its lots of bacon with has browns and waffles or French toast. One thing I will never eat is an actual egg, I am not sure why, but they do not appeal to me at all.
I just gained 15 pounds watching this!
Same
That is ALOT of food. As for me, since I'm trying to go plant based absolutely NO PORK ON MY FORK. So, half grapefruit, a waffle, a potatoe cake and ☕
Does not look like anyone has touched #baconmountain 😂
No one has yet to concur it!
Nothing Healthy. Morgan, about MSC, have you applied to MSC Loyalty Status Match Program?
Yes and I never got any answer.
Very unOfficial Travel Guides what? A highly followed mega you tube star? That’s crazy.
I would eat a made to order omelet and plenty of fresh fruit and breakfast potatoes. Milk and juice and a banana for the road...(that's what he said...LOL}...I would never eat those pre-made pancakes and French toast things....horrible....
ATE SO MUCH IN THE WINDJAMMER HAD TO GO TO SHIP'S STORE AND GET LAXATIVES--ALL 3 TIMES!!! LORD HELP ME
That's hardcore.
No vi carne en el bufet del crucero
Honestly, I think it would be easier to list the things that doesn't end up on my plate!
You mean because it all looks so good?
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides oh yes! I try just about anything when I cruise. I even tried a lot of items on the menu at food republic even though most of them scared me lol..
Who the hell dislikes this video?
Royal Caribbean's muesli @1:45 is the reason I cruise! LOL
It’s so good, isn’t it???
My mum was having the bircher muesli each day on RC and she raved about how delicious it was
Start with scrambled eggs, bacon, cottage cheese & fruit, apple juice. Then whatever else I can shove down my face. (Why am I fat?!?)
Lol
num nuts,, you could have labeled the dishes
Breakfast is good with lots of options, and dinners are generally pretty good on RC cruises. Lunch is not so good. Desserts are generally not very good...too much whipped cream or whatever the fluff is they use. Regarding breakfast, RC does need to learn how to fry bacon. It is either all matted together and sitting in lard, and/or pretty raw. No such thing as crisp bacon on RC unless it gets fried twice in which case it is burnt but true to tradition it will still be covered in lard. Due to the international chefs , I think, they don't really know how to cook American food. They always seem to add some foreign twist to the recipe....adding some secret ingredient that pretty much destroys the food especially desserts. Ice cream is sometimes good at Sprinkles...the soft serve machine on the lido deck... but tends to be too soft. Ice cream served in the Windjammer and dining room is always too soft (melted). I think the reason for this is that they usually have a 90-pound girl who has to scoop it out of the container.
I noticed this too about the bacon on rc....it's always swimming in grease and soggy, never crispy. It always looked undercooked. I'm vegetarian anyway, luckily
Wowsers #baconmountain 🥓 didn’t eat at windjammer at all!!😱I only took pics of the cake 🎂 buffet’ in the 😱windjammer, I didn’t really eat at any speciality restaurants at all or The MDR😱 I only ate at Coastal Kitchen for the whole time I was there!! Which was 10 days on Oviation if I only new,😱😢🥓😢which was a bummer,😆
Where is the tofu, seitan, or tempeh for vegans
On our last cruise on the Disney Dream, they had crispy tofu nuggets in the buffet. I have also had tofu steaks in the MDR on Carnival, Disney, and NCL.
Good to know. Thank you!
Best thing in the RC Windjammer buffet is the muesli (1:52)
My mum had the bircher muesli every day. She said it was to die for
Sorry, no Indian food for me!
