Even if it was them wanting to “erase” their disabilities, that’s a very valid POV of someone who has a disability- especially if it was one acquired later in life. Their ideal world may be one where they did not have it and I feel that is also a valid opinion that shouldn’t make people who accept and own their disabilities feel less then. Again if it even was the message.
I get that not accepting a disability can seem as ableist and be called like that, but is there really someone that has become disabled and didn't wish for it to disappear? 😭
@@eriz2371 Ableist is non-disabled people telling disabled people what they should or not wish about their disabilities. Accepting disabilities does not equate to wanting them.
But the question, if that was the case, is where the message was coming from. If the message was coming from a disabled person's pov then it would have been understandable, but if it was from an abled person's pov then I could see the controversy in that. Since it's abled people THINKING what disabled people want/ desire rather than disabled people expressing those sentiments themselves. (If this was the case of the MV)
I mean... I interpreted it as the camcorder showing them what they would look like if whatever catastrophe happened didn't actually happen to them? As in - Taehyung has cuts all over his face, so him going blind in one eye could be a result of a recent (-ish) injury.
"Love wins all" mv has to be one of the best mvs i have seen for last few years...its not even exaggeration, my words can't express how much i loved it and emotionally relate to it... Its sad that nowadays some people have to be so pressed about something because in their definition it doesn't fit. ..to me that disabilities part is more of like metaphor....where sometimes we hide our feelings , partially become blind to reality, become deaf to hear the truth , Living in such cruel world with so much constant fear make our lives pretty much artificial.. And yet some people choose to be with their loved one , having dreams of a happy life , having courage to be with someone till death is my own little theory about this MV...even lyrics also indicate that. Im not theory fanatic person but i like to interpret it in my own way and i personally loved it . Not to mention both IU and V acted so well.
The mv is beautiful, and I think people are causing problems where there isn't none like people do nowadays since they have no life. People should just enjoy the mv and watch it as is. Great singing, great acting, amazing mv.
I think people assumed they were playing disabled characters but disabilities disappeared with the lens. But it'd actually that IU could hear before and V could see and that was before the apocalypse had happened. The him being blind and her being deaf was from near death experiences but I guess people didn't catch that and thought the camera was just getting rid of their disabilities for an "ideal world"
@@Cecil1213 that's true. Cause v's is blind from only one eye so it's clear that he got than from an injury which is most probably as you said from the apocalypse.
Honestly, I haven't seen anyone criticizing this MV for this reason. It's making me wonder if the channel owner is cherry picking these critical comments for views (it does make for great clickbait content), without necessarily putting themselves at risk of hate (because it's not their own comment!). But maybe I'm misinterpreting, as someone who doesn't regularly consume this channel's content.
I see it as. How The camcorder shows how happy their lives were or could have been untill the cube. And even if they were faced with many challenges they still fought strongly . At the tae was hitting the cube like crazy showing how he didn't want anything to happen to IU and IU covering tae's eye so he won't be able to see the end as she doesn't want him to be afraid.
As a person who also has invisible disabilities I interpret it to be a world in which disabled people live to be targeted by the cube due to their disabilities. The camcorder shows a world in which they aren't persecuted anymore and seeing what their life could be like without struggles related to their disabilities. I also think the end signifies something bigger I think its more than them just dying it feels like them protecting each other from the prejudice in this case the cube sadly they do still die but they chose to go together one of them could've ran away but they chose to stay together even if it would be the end of them Also for anyone in the comments, we don't know these idols and so many idols struggle with hidden disabilities and it could be very likely IU or Taehyung may have hidden disabilities as well!
bro who actually cares. i never cry like literally never. but this music video was so beautiful! it just represented their happiness, maybe happiness to them is how its expressed. why cant people just enjoy something amazing
I'm blind ( not fully but by law I am classed as blind ) and I absolutely love the mv concept. I struggle with the thought of not being loved because of the fact I am blind so the unconditional love that is shown in the mv is such a lovely thing for me to watch ❤
Actually the MV shows how their lives would be without people targeting upon the people with disabilities. The camera shows the lives of disable people without other toxic people. It holds such an emotional meaning yet all people know is hate.
The disabilities were never the issue. They representing the modern world where many disabled people are discriminated. The cube was representing the real world. The camcorder scene showed how they were normal people like and how they wished to live in a safe, discrimination free world where they don't have to live in constant fear. They just to live a normal and happy life without any interference
I think that the camcorder represents how they see themselves, just normal people. The camcorder doesn't erase IU's deafness, but it shows V as what he was like before the dystopia. If you notice, even when IU is on the stage she isn't singing, V sings to her.
Honestly, I feel this is an overreach. It is a sci fi story. A dystopian sci fi. The camera shows their dreams. In such a dystopian landscape, can’t what is shown be a dream of someone who has lost their sense of hearing and partial sense of sight? What if we just interpreted the piece wrong? What if IU was signing because like “A Quiet Place” the thing is sensitive to human voice? What if they were previously able to hear and sing and see, and that is what their ideal thing is. Point: no matter how much you filter or expand or explain, when people want to get offended, they will be offended. This is art, it is up to the audience to see how they want it to be seen. If they are offended, that is valid, if they are not offended, then that is also valid. There are a lot of things that society and culture has already deemed offensive and inappropriate as part of the general consensus. But I don’t think telling such a story is one of them.
I agree with your argument but I want to comment that the cube thing isn't like the monsters in "A Quiet Place". IU was signing bcs her character is deaf. The cube can see & hear them but not highly sensitive nor agile. They ran away, stepping on branches then having fun in an abandoned mall, but the cube didn't find them immediately.
I actually love the mv, it's only showing how people who actually have disabilities might wish they were like. I'm obviously not showing any hate to them since I am deaf (partially)in my left ear my self but people these days just want to find any little thing to hate on kpop idols.
First thing it's safe to assume majority of the world's deaf and blind population don't want to have their disability; so it may have been more realistic if they have the disability but it gives them a view of their perfect life. Building on the first theory they may have got those disabilities during this apocalypse so in their perfect life they never got the disabilities.
I don’t think the disabilities disappearing have anything to do with their idealized versions of themselves directly. I don’t think I noticed IU “speaking” or simply not acting deaf during their happy moments. I assume Taehyung isn’t blind in these moments because his blindness was caused by the harmful situation they’re truly in. People simply like to hate on anything without seeing the whole picture. I thought the MV was absolutely beautiful. IU and Taehyung had beautiful chemistry, and as a Taehyung ultimate biased person, I’d LOVE to see them act together again. I’ve seen this MV a dozen times already and I bawl my eyes out every single time. 💜
In this apocalyptic/dystopian landscape it MORE THAN LIKELY that IU and Taehyung's characters lost their hearing and eyesight due to external factors relating to their environment and mysterious enemy entity. So yeah, they might wish for a world free of all the challenges they find themselves in. Which is what the camcorder showed, not just them no longer having disabilities. Also, for anyone not convinced, please look into the disabilities acquired by children and people due to shooting, bombing, collapsing infrastructure, etc. in war-torn apocalyptical places in the real world.
The cube is literally chasing them BECAUSE of their disabilities. The other world is how their life would be if the cubes didn't want to erase them for their disabilities, if they were safe for who they are
In the painful and scary world, Taehyung has a scar which implies that he lost his eye during a traumatic moment while, IU is deaf-mute. In the idealised world, Taehyung doesn't go through the trauma of losing his eye, while IU remains herself. The critical diference between the characters in these two worlds is that they're safe and free to live the way they want to. In my opinion, there is no ableist message.
Not at all. They , in each others eyes. dont have disabilities. Not that THEY have an issue. THE CUBE represents society, media, etc. THEY are discriminating them into oblivion. Death. Suffering. They just want to LIVE, LOVE, BE HAPPY.
I hate when people pretend that living with a disability is the same as living without it. Of course it is worse, and it's ok to not want to have it. Disabilities are tragic, they make lives harder and can absolutely take away your happiness and freedom. Of course the perfect world is the world where everyone is healthy, can see, hear, walk, run and just fully experience reality. Stop pretending people, and don't lie to yourself. Lives of disabled people are absolutely harder, and nobody wants to have hard life
First of all, I think this mv has a beautiful yet emotional story behind it, which I'm pretty sure that took a lot of time and effort. Second of all, No matter what it is, Good or Bad, people are always complaining and insulting about everything. Especially NETIZENS. And Lastly, Now I know, whatever netizens say, is just COMPLETE BULLSHIT.
Let’s be honest, if it was a choice no one would actively choose to be blind or deaf. Do they accept it and try to not let their disability detour them? Yes. Everyone just want to be angry at something 😭💀
Huh, I figured that they got their disabilities from the apocalyptic environment. Like aliens attacked them, they got bombed, etc., which can lead to the disabilities they have. Especially V since he's blind/injured in only one eye? The camcorder version is just them being happy and living 'normal' lives, or the lives they had before the apocalypse. I thought it was bittersweet and sad. Shocking that people would relate it to ableism, just shows how some people would rather look at all the worst possible negatives than any possible positives. Also IU's deafness/muteness seems like a throwback to her role in My Mister, following the tragedy of Lee Sun Kyun.
That’s what I assumed too! Since it showed them not having those disabilities in the camcorder, I thought that’s how they used to be before the cubes and were thinking back to a time where they were their “normal” selves and not having to run and hide all the time. I don’t think the point was that if you have disabilities that’s a bad thing and it means you’re miserable. Though, I’m sure there are definitely some blind, mute or deaf people who wished they didn’t have to live their lives this way and would love to be able to see, speak and hear completely.
@@RebaMcImTired Yes, exactly, I also felt like it was maybe a homage to Lee Sun Kyun. Her character in the MV (short hair, baggy hoodie, use of sign language) resembled her character in My Mister a lot.
I always thought seeing through the camcorder was like seeing through the lens of the love they have for each other. They can see past the disabilities and just see each other for who they actually are.
I think the disabilities were caused because of the cube like he lost sight in his one eye and she lost her hearing while trying to escape their apocalypse. The camcorder seemed to show a time before all of this happened so they are uninjured. That’s how I interpreted it
I read it as they lost their hearing/sight as a result of the apocalypse. Like IU couldve been exposed to a loud noise such as a bomb that made her deaf, and V could have sustained an injury to his eye either physically or from a large flash of light. If this was the case, naturally, they would associate their disabilities with trauma, and I always thought the camrecorder scenes were supposed to be what their life COULD have been had this apocalypse not occured ....aka they wouldnt have their disabilities
This hate is forced for this one the mv shows how they were being singled out and target for having those disabilities and the camera showed them not having them and being able to live happily without the fear of being targeted which is what people with disabilities go through but in the end love wins because they still had each other throughout it all
As a disabled person myself i dont find offense bc thats how i feel too!! My ideal life is to not he disabled and if i could erase that then i definitely would
Oh my gosh!! That's how the name of the streaming platform, VIU was coined!! V and IU on that music video is a whole new level!! 🧡💯 I wish they'll have a K-Drama together... 😻💜
Both of those disabilities could've easily been because of the violent situation they were in. It's not necessary that they were born with them. If their ideal world is them without injuries living happy lives it would make complete sense that the disabilities would be gone if they were because something happened to them
The music video is basically showing us that the cube had given them these disabilities and made them look like that. The camcorder just shows how their lives would have been if the cube didn't appear
Nowadays people are so sensitive, they will find every single reason to hate on. Why can't people just enjoy the MV instead of finding every single reason to hate on.
There are many movies where people are deaf and blind but they recover afterwards and are happy.People have different opinions and likes and dislikes just because you like or dislike something doesn’t mean everyone else will like or dislike them ...Damn it world can’t you keep your opinions to yourself ... They are idols not your puppets who will only do whatever you like ..They have millions of fans they can fulfill all of their wishes 😑
When they look through the camcorder, I see it as us seeing it through their eyes and their pov. When IU looks through the camera, she sees V as perfect despite his blind eye, because to her he is perfect in her eyes and she loves him, and vice versa. The camcorder is basically like their mind and we see what they wanted in life and how they see each other etc.
you can't deny being deaf, mute and blind is hard. like, YOU LITERALY CAN'T SAY/HEAR/SAY ANYTHING. Also, they probably got blind and deaf and mute in the "battle" they were having scapping from the cube or smth. this mv was such a masterpiece. people need to calm down and realize discriminating people is everywhere, but not in everyone
Omg can’t we just appreciate this beautiful masterpiece? People really need to get a life instead of trying to criticise everything they see atp they’re just bored and need to drag things down
They are clearly not presented as being handicapped. They are hurt. There is a clear difference. The dead thing is a stretch as we do not know if in this world they can speak or not -I interpreted it as them not being allowed (in the apocalyptic thing), as the only moment v speaks out he is bashed by the cube- His eye has clearly been hurt. They are not seeing an ideal, they are seeing their life without the cubes’ rule and the apocalypse sort of thing. So without the injury, his eye is ok. It is in no way linked or criticizing handicapped people. People need to stop searching for problems and scandals in art. They did nothing wrong you’re just missing the beauty of it.
I thought to me it was clear that they lost their hearing and vision in one eye due to their situation so it would make sense ideally a better version of their life is getting rid of what happened to them in that situation..idk though
The entire point is that the camcorder shows their natural condition, before the cubes started attacking humankind. They weren't born disabled, they sustained their disabilities during the attacks. That's why V is only blind in one eye.
As someone who has a disability honestly it seems like you went into my mind, every disabled person has once wanted to be normal because of how society judges us resulting in us feeling like things would be much better if we were normal.
The reality of life is, people with disabilities would be MUCH happier if they never had a disability, because it DOES make life more challenging. And having representation done by ppl who aren't born with disabilities is fucking normal, that's been around for years we call it ACTING. People will find any bullshit to complain about when there's no reason too. If you find such a simple, sweet MV somehow "problematic and offensive" the MV isn't the problem, you are. Get thick skin, socialise, don't turn every little thing offensive, real life isn't twitter.
ok im not deaf or blind myself, but wouldnt you want to be able to live a normal life if you were given the chance too? like i dont think its that much of a stretch to say that some people with their disabilities would like to experience life without them ? 😭 i dont think it was in any way insinuating anything ableist. actual ableism is treating someone with a disability differently in social situations, often in the form of infantilization...
i have seen some movies that has things like these, small features such as One-eye blind, and the other one has right/left deaf stuff like that. It's common in my eyes/view.
Well ideally people want to see and hear. Who doesn’t want to see their lover smile? Who doesn’t want to hear their lover laugh? Who doesn’t want to see when they make eye contact with their lover? Who doesn’t want to hear the cried of their lover in order to feel their emotion as well? Disabilities aren’t bad, but who doesn’t want to experience life without these things that prevent us from enjoying our lives with another person? How is this being ableist? Genuinely I don’t know how. Who doesn’t want to show and experience love in all its forms?
Even if this is true, let's be real, who wouldnt be happier without their problems? Who wants to be blind/deaf? Its a horrible thing and most cant control it so shaming them is disgusting but nobody actually WANTS it
this is like... for a few people, "wow, this MV and everything with it is just so good... damn !! so hard to find something out of it to hate.... wait.. ableism... that's it... let's spread it online... blah blah blah..." yep, those are the few people and they will always be existing...no matter what. don't bother to go deeper, cuz that's how they are in their blood.
The camcorder showed them what they wanted to see. Nobody wants to be blind or deaf so why would they still see themselves as such? I can’t believe there’s at least 1 person that has a problem with such a well made MV.
I have a mental disability, Autism and ADHD specifically, and if they was something I would do to fix this. I would. Disability’s aren’t fun. Obviously I am just one person so I don’t represent everyone in the disabled community but this isn’t something I would choose.
When V looked through the lens, IU still appeared to be signing or making a gesture which means that V never perceived her deafness as the problem. The only difference is that she’s clean and unburdened by tragedy. We see her swaying on stage with a mic, able to sing freely without fear of judgment from others. As for IU’s perception of V, being deaf likely made her sense of vision most proficient, so she (literally) saw his cloudy eye as a physical manifestation of his suffering. Using the same logic as V’s perception of IU’s deafness - had V been born with two working eyes and acquired the blindness later in life, it makes sense that IU saw his blind eye as a working eye (his original state). I truly believe that if V was canonically born blind in that one eye IU would’ve understood that it was his normal state and viewed his eye as still cloudy through the lens. This story is a beautiful representation of seeing goodness when in difficult, dire situations. The “goodness” is not a fantasy but an authentic and devoted perspective of each other~
It clearly shows them as they were BEFORE they got hurt and chased down. People really have nothing better to do than find the worst explanations and get riled up for no reason at all.
Im disabled, and i would be so happy if my disability was featured in a mv, i know its a bit different as it isn't a physical disabilty like being blind or deaf but it isn't very acknowledged in sk and of an idol were to speak about it i feel like that would change.
I mean, isn’t it obvious that anyone with a disability would rather not to have it. Not because of the judgement, it’s just that live would be easier, that’s it. Also, they’re missing the whole point and message of the video, if they can’t get it, they shouldn’t be out here giving “opinions”
in my point of view im pretty sure that V being blind and IU being deaf was caused by the apocalyptic environment and were probably caused by accidents that happened while they were trying to survive, what the cam captures is a life of what it would be like if they weren't faced with their current condition, a life where they didn't/haven't gone through all their trauma and pain that they have in their actual reality
People these days just want to find anything they could hate on. This mv is so emotional and I can't believe such a masterpiece can get hate

@@alpacafish1269 I agree that’s fair.
I mean... I interpreted it as the camcorder showing them what they would look like if whatever catastrophe happened didn't actually happen to them? As in - Taehyung has cuts all over his face, so him going blind in one eye could be a result of a recent (-ish) injury.
Exactly he is heavily wounded on the side of his face where he’s blind
As a disabled person I would like to thank iu for representing the disability community 😊
What? People are offended by anything these days. I loved the MV so much......
People are so stupid...everything want to make an issue
OMG yes people are so sensitive😭
First ever mv that literally had me bawling and begging for a drama because i need more
the camcorder shows them an idealised world where theyre not discriminated and disadvantaged in society due to their disabilities…
People just wanna make up crap when 2 big artists come together to create a masterpiece. Haters will hate ig
As a person who also has invisible disabilities I interpret it to be a world in which disabled people live to be targeted by the cube due to their disabilities.
The camcorder shows a world in which they aren't persecuted anymore and seeing what their life could be like without struggles related to their disabilities. I also think the end signifies something bigger I think its more than them just dying it feels like them protecting each other from the prejudice in this case the cube sadly they do still die but they chose to go together one of them could've ran away but they chose to stay together even if it would be the end of them
Also for anyone in the comments, we don't know these idols and so many idols struggle with hidden disabilities and it could be very likely IU or Taehyung may have hidden disabilities as well!
bro who actually cares. i never cry like literally never. but this music video was so beautiful! it just represented their happiness, maybe happiness to them is how its expressed. why cant people just enjoy something amazing
I like to think it's artists running away from cube entertainment only for them to get locked up again, trapped.
I'm waiting for somebody to make a meme out of it
Lmaooooo
LMFAOOO😭
Literally thought of hyuna and dawn😂after seeing v and iu
@@mikks3733 RIGHT??!! 🤣 That poor couple
I'm blind ( not fully but by law I am classed as blind ) and I absolutely love the mv concept. I struggle with the thought of not being loved because of the fact I am blind so the unconditional love that is shown in the mv is such a lovely thing for me to watch ❤
I am someone with a disability and loved IU’s MV! There’s nothing to hate here.
Actually the MV shows how their lives would be without people targeting upon the people with disabilities. The camera shows the lives of disable people without other toxic people. It holds such an emotional meaning yet all people know is hate.
I haven’t watched the MV but I can already tell it’s gonna be good.
You're gonna cry so hard like it's such a tearjerker. pls watch it!! you won't regret
It's the kind you wish was a 2 hour long movie
It's a movie in 5 min
Grab some tissues... even if not then you're gonna watch it on loop and gonna complain why only 5 minutes 😭
This is the best music video I ever seen it really made me cry when they both die in the end 😭🫂
As someone with a disability, I would definitely be happier without it.
....They're in a dystopian end of the world situation, OFC they want to see a happy world!
I don't know about y'all, but if I was also being persecuted by some ominous cube, I'd also like to idealize my situation 🤷♀️
They ran away, stepping on branches then having fun in an abandoned mall, but the cube didn't find them immediately.
uhm if i was blind or deaf my happier version would definitely be able to see or hear, yall dtm
as a person with multiple disabilities, i do not see how any part of the music video was a problem at all
I actually love the mv, it's only showing how people who actually have disabilities might wish they were like. I'm obviously not showing any hate to them since I am deaf (partially)in my left ear my self but people these days just want to find any little thing to hate on kpop idols.
the music video was phenomenal period! ❤
As a disabled person i love this MV
They were injuries of post apocalyptic world
They were fine before, so surely they want to go back before they were injured
Yeah it’s just ridiculous. 😢Although I am also one, K-pop fans have got to be one of the most overly sensitive and pathetic groups I belong to.
Her character in the MV (short hair, baggy hoodie, use of sign language) resembled her character in My Mister a lot.
damn people are looking so hard for something to pick on IUs song is sooo beautiful
People are over complicating it and make sure to find it in themselves to criticize everything. The MV was a masterpiece. Both performed well.
Also, not wanting to be disabled isnt ableist. Being shitty to someone, patronising them or minimising thier disability is ableist.
Ummm if you’re blind you would be happier being able to see, if you’re deaf you would also probably be happier being able to hear. What’s the issue?
This hate is forced for this one the mv shows how they were being singled out and target for having those disabilities and the camera showed them not having them and being able to live happily without the fear of being targeted which is what people with disabilities go through but in the end love wins because they still had each other throughout it all
As a disabled person myself i dont find offense bc thats how i feel too!! My ideal life is to not he disabled and if i could erase that then i definitely would
The mysterious cube is Cube entertainment😂😂😂
...I mean wouldn't the perfect human have perfect vision and perfect hearing? Along with all other senses being perfect
I have a feeling that the people angry and calling this ableist aren't blind nor deaf, and infact perfect capable of both sight and hearing.
Love it iu and v they did a amazing job haters are always gonna hate
They running away from cube entertainment 😭✋
Oh my gosh!! That's how the name of the streaming platform, VIU was coined!! V and IU on that music video is a whole new level!! 🧡💯
I wish they'll have a K-Drama together... 😻💜
Both of those disabilities could've easily been because of the violent situation they were in. It's not necessary that they were born with them. If their ideal world is them without injuries living happy lives it would make complete sense that the disabilities would be gone if they were because something happened to them
People are hating on anything and everything.
Love the mv and the song..its such a masterpiece..
Thier acting is perfect 😭
It seems that v got blind while running away from the cube. I think it had a beautiful message people need to stop being so sensitive
When your day’s went a little too perfectly and you didn’t find shit to hate on:
you can't deny being deaf, mute and blind is hard. like, YOU LITERALY CAN'T SAY/HEAR/SAY ANYTHING. Also, they probably got blind and deaf and mute in the "battle" they were having scapping from the cube or smth.
this mv was such a masterpiece. people need to calm down and realize discriminating people is everywhere, but not in everyone
This is why I love Jessi and Hwasa! They sing whatever the f*ck they want! Because you just can’t please people..
Omg can’t we just appreciate this beautiful masterpiece? People really need to get a life instead of trying to criticise everything they see atp they’re just bored and need to drag things down
They are clearly not presented as being handicapped. They are hurt. There is a clear difference. The dead thing is a stretch as we do not know if in this world they can speak or not
-I interpreted it as them not being allowed (in the apocalyptic thing), as the only moment v speaks out he is bashed by the cube-
His eye has clearly been hurt.
I can't comprehend how people aren't memeing to hell and back the cube representing cube entertainment
Complete silliness.
Who doesn’t want to show and experience love in all its forms?
i mean.. most people dont really want to be blind or deaf if they can be perfectly healthy and have all their senses, right?
Even if this is true, let's be real, who wouldnt be happier without their problems? Who wants to be blind/deaf? Its a horrible thing and most cant control it so shaming them is disgusting but nobody actually WANTS it
This kind of discussion just enables the haters to criticize for any little thing, stop giving them the attention they want. 😮💨
this is like... for a few people, "wow, this MV and everything with it is just so good... damn !! so hard to find something out of it to hate.... wait.. ableism... that's it... let's spread it online... blah blah blah..."
yep, those are the few people and they will always be existing...no matter what. don't bother to go deeper, cuz that's how they are in their blood.
Bro people with disabilities are literally appreciating this mv for spreading awareness
I’m sure just about everyone with disabilities/chronic illness has wished they didn’t at some point
