The IOW paddling pool was originally just off of the West side of the boating lake. When the lake was removed, the paddling pool was moved East a hundred feet or so, to occupy the old boating lake site. I remember how slippery it used to get and you'd be crawling atound the island model on your hands and knees, grabbing onto the little town signs to stop from slipping off.
It’s hard to believe but I used to play in the paddling pool at Ventnor jumping on and off the island when we came to visit back in the mid 70’s. We love the island so much that 1st my sister and now myself have settled here. Thanks for sharing. 💙🧶🌈🍓
@@orsonbear9627 OK, so it is in the same spot. It's a faint memory, but I thought it was more in the open ... like somewhere along the promenade, rather than at the end. I remember walking with an aunt along the promenade, then coming across it and wading in. Regardless, I'm pleased that it is the original pool. Thanks for the clarification.
My favourite place on the island along with the Ventnor downs

What a lovely memory, glad you enjoyed!
Just found the video and i love it, this is one walk i like to do and enjoy a Crab Pasty when we get there.
As a kid in 1962, I remember a paddling pool with the island-shaped centre, but I think it was located elsewhere along the promenade.
I think your memory is faulty: the island pool was in the same place as today in the 50s when my sister and I played in it.
