- Celebrate my 200th railway video with this look back at a day Nick and I came to Cardiff, long before we decided to live here. What a good choice we made. Enjoy the memories and note the changes with long gone platforms at Central etc. I still have over 600 hours of recordings, it's only time in editing that's the problem, but good to share. Mike, stay with me for the next 100.!

Excellent selection of classic traction, I have never noticed the platform there shown at 6m 20s, my dad is totally baffled by it too.
These are the old platforms 8&9 Justin, which used to service Cardiff Clarence Road Station down in the Docks area in Cardiff...all now long gone....Bob

@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways Glad you uploaded the 90s videos. Reminds me of my old times as a child, watching a plethora of diesels pulling many hopper wagons down the main line and watching the shunters at work at Knuckle Yard like the 08's, the Rolls Royce Brush Bagnalls and the Hunslets.
You have a new fan now Mike, introduced by brother to your vids, he was a 37 driver shuttling coal back and forth up and down the valleys mines. Through central many times, advanced to 47's on longer distance stuff then. He enjoyed your stuff on some of the trips up yo those old tracks, now looking like jungles. Brought him back many memories. Advanced to the 125's but career cut short by a suicide this side of Newport tunnel, which caused a heart attack not much later. So never drove again.
Glad you enjoyed my video. It's developed since I retired in 1998. I now have the time to edit my old tapes and go out to catch any unusual movements. I still have 100s of hours to edit; so more to come soon. Hope your brother enjoys them too.............................Mike in the Vale
Train drivers shouldn't have to endure such trauma sadly. You have served your country and society well so be proud of that!
Hi Mike,excellent ,6 months before I started videoing (August 93)
The class 31 I believe was on the Bescot-Gloucester-Radyr trip which finished in March when Radyr closed although I did manage to photograph them at Radyr

My mother has a video of me as a 2 year old in 1995 of our holiday to Butlins. There's a lot of footage recorded at Cardiff Central Station.

WOW 😮, it’s a long time 🕰️ ago that it’s happened I January 1993 is now 31 previous years ago. Now it’s 2024. It was on Sunday 7th January 1993. Doesn’t time 🕰️ fly quickly. Here are the 2 car class 150 sprinter trains 🚊. It was nationalised back then until 3 years later 👋 in 1996 became privatised. Here is the class 143s and 158s. It’s an intercity 125 train 🚊. I honestly like 👍 BR - British 🇬🇧 Rail 🚃 🚆 and don’t like 👍 privatised train 🚊 companies is because it’s confusing 🫤. 👍
