Something worth knowing about driving licenses, if you live in Japan after the 1st year you can't use a foreign driving permit anymore. So you will have to change at some point if you stay longer. 🫡
7:04 Thank you for replying to my question in such a thoughtful manner ❤ Watching your vlogs has become part of my daily routine. I look forward to seeing them when I get home from work. Keep on doing fun stuff :D
Mudan, I really want to thank you for all your videos. It’s so nice to be able to see a bit of your Japan adventure every day, me and my girlfriend watching every single episode. I really appreciate your choice of content, your excellent music choices (so much Nintendo music ❤), the humour, the little effects and the overall style of your videos. And most of all, you seem to be a very good person in general. We hope you will be seeing very great things in the last months of your adventure. Currently we are in Japan too (a few weeks now) and because of you we started collecting the manhole cards also. So far we got 5, but many more will follow, hehe! Enjoy your time and greetings to the babysitter. - 2 Germans
I did it guys. 3 Days ago I Finally made the move. Looking to stay a year come hell or high water, this series Mudan's made has been such a huge motivator for me. Keep it up mate
3:45 Thank you for answering my question! I personally can’t do anything when I’m even a little bits tipsy, so that’s why all my work on my videos, scripts and art is made when I’m sober. I Appreciate that you’re doings these vlogs even when you’re drunk ✨
Dude, on the "why don't you have more viewers questions" I love your content. You are the most interesting of the Japan content creators ever since I found you via Pete and Chris's content. I think viewership is mostly a luck thing. Your content is anything but boring! What will your channel look like after your year in Japan is up I wonder, but what ever it is I look forward to it.
Thank you for making clear about what happened in Lost bar. Of course the owner has every right to implement the rules for his property, making sure that every one visiting will have a good time. It just caught me off guard, and that is why I asked
You do great work! Thanks for tip on hand crafted markets. I found a nice little coin purse there for the insane number of coins i collected during my stay.
Me and my Mom were watching this episode together and we actually wojak'd when we saw my comment lol My Mom was curious about it too so I wanted to ask. Thanks Mudan!!
I'm really enjoying your vlogs. Looks like you're having fun and recording some of it, which I enjoy. Hope my comments haven't been too much trouble. Oh, and I think you're supposed to eat the curry the way you want to. Little kids usually mix it up, I think, and as an adult there's no rules. I think it tastes better unmixed but that's just me.
Thank you for answering my question! When I read 20th CB, I kind of binged it in 2 weeks, so it's interesting for me to follow someone else, who goes through this story in much better pace. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!
31:14 ty for answering my question! I totally agree, sometimes the spice takes away from the flavors of the dish and it becomes overwhelming. Although I think certain foods benefit from being spicy like Indian, Sichuanese, etc. where the spice and pepper is very fragrant and delicious :) That being said I think level 2-3 at CocoIchi is the best.
Sticky buttons can be fixed by gentle applications of isopropyl and a q-tip. Small amount, swirl, let set for five minutes, repeat until golden. Thanks for the fun recap, fella~! What sorts of wacky things will Mudan get up to tomorrow?
Hey man I like you VLOGS, but I think I mostly like them because I like you... So I guess you are right... But any way keep up the good work and have fun!
i love your videos and i am so glad you have allowed us to experience this with you !! i just got back from a 3 week trip to tokyo last week and i miss it already lol, have you been to ueno zoo? it was a nice few hour walk around looking at all the cool critters :3
I learned something! The table charge is just basically the new way american restaurants are charging for tips. (They charge a fixed percentage of your meal price). And basically the next vlog really answered the question i asked about the skits/bits, but thank you for the clarification
Two ways of eating curry rice. OG way is to eat bit by bit, rice and scoop a lil curry onto the side. Western/easy way is to mix everything together and eat. The OG way will bring out the flavours more. The easy way is like mush. Mushy rice, all the flavours are mixed it so it will taste as one. But do what's comfortable for you.
Kobo sage is the way for manga, its just a little bigger but has very jammy turn on button which hardly ever works and needs a lot of power to press it
Not mixing curry with rice means you get to decide the ratio with each bite, and I think it makes the eating experience more interesting. But enjoy your meal any way you want! As someone growing up Hong Kong where we have restaurants from all over Asia with their own version of curry, as well as our own cha-chaan-teng versions, I can confirm that there is no consensus whatsoever on whether to mix or not.
I moved far north and got better skin by the water and air getting that much healthier, better internal health in general too. No more big city living - at the expense of the nearest store with an HDMI cable being an hour's bus ride away.
I loved the katsu curry from "Matsuya and Mycurry Shokudo", I went there like 3 times during my stay in Tokyo and I miss it so much, it fills you up really good as well. And I never mixed the curry, I liked having the distinct flavours between the katsu, the rice and the curry itself.
26:19 I usually give a familiar piece of advice. That you need to set a “base” in 1 to 3 major cities, like Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, and just go around them. With Japanese travel system it’s easy to explore these areas and you can get a really good experiences.
Regarding CoCo Curry, my max is probably 7 or 8, but to me going lower than 4 would be like eating food here in Sweden - it's kind of drab. I enjoy the kick of the spice and it heightens the experience for me. :p
can confirm having a larger screen e-reader mostly avoids small text bubbles. except it is still only black and white so I have to guess what color everyone's hair is. one day 8" color...
Re: Curry’s Be it Indian or Japanese I don’t think there’s any set method? Like if you want to mix (like I do & I did when I had coco curry in Japan) or eat “separate” then it’s up to you! But yeah I haven’t heard anything like “don’t mix your curry and rice in Japan” rule
If you're staying in Japan for a year or less, you can get by with an international driving license, but after one year (or upon expiry) you have to get the local one (with few exceptions).
Data limits should be abolished, there is so much bandwidth and it's so cheap now it should be unlimited, I had no idea Japan with its good internet, still has shitty mobile plans, for shame!
easy to remember, in japan you generally do not mix things, you eat them as they are served its the intention. in fact mixing can be rude. dirreent thing in korea, they mix almost everything. so if you go to shin okubo mixing is fine when it comes to korean dishes, not the japanese one
This is just flat out untrue lol if you go to a curry place a majority of Japanese people are mixing them together. And most places will have the curry laid out all over on top of the rice already.
I lost a lot of mobility in my hands from an insane combination of carpal tunnel, cubical tunnel, and de quervains (trigger finger in your thumb) in **both hands**. It’s been over a year. You do not get used to it. I can barely play guitar or keyboard, I have to use narration to type, I can essentially only play turn based game that don’t use a joy stick and that I can use the split joycon controllers for, rendering my gaming pc close to useless. Cooking and cleaning and even just using the phone are pain. I can’t do any lifting that requires me to grip with my hands, so you know: any. You don’t get used to it. It’s depressing as fuck. You made the right call, I’d rather be entirely paraplegic than lose fingers, no cap. Myself, my thumbs can get better if I ever get health insurance/escape this shithole nation with our new old orange overlord, but carpal tunnel never really goes away, even if the 30% chance of making it worse surgery succeeds. If anyone reads this: do everything you can for ergonomics with your setup, especially if you have narrow wrists like me!
Hey Mudan, might be a bit too vague of a question, but I was wondering if you had any general advice or recommendations for people who plan on coming to Japan on a working holiday visa. I received mine last month and plan on starting my visit in January. Since I'm also a video editor I'll be in a similar situation to you where I'm not working a Japanese job like most people with the visa. Any recommendations or advice at all would be appreciated!
Just enjoy your time here! It's going to be great 🙏🏻 (and make sure the internet is already available in your lodging, getting a service provider yourself will be a hassle)
Thank you for sharing your stay in Japan Mudan. If this comment is picked for your next monthly video - if there is only one thing to take away after almost 300 days in japan, what is it?
I see not mixing curry as normal. But I've also seen people mix curry, and some restaurants serving curry on the rice. So I think it is just a preference thing.
Day 63 of commenting on Mudan's Vlog: 9 months of content we can look through for inspiration when visiting Japan. Looking forward for the next 3 months. Edit: Oh yeah, the Curry thing!? I mix it up and don't care what others think. It's me who are eating my meal, not the envy stalker! 😉
25:14 Cannot speak for losing fingers, but losing a foot sucks. People don't realize how much an ankle impacts little things in life. I'm guessing with all other amputee they'll agree it's a roller coaster. Some days are good, some days are bad
Even if you dont get the most views your videos are something I look forward to every day. Its part of my routine. Keep up the great work
Yeah, same.
and I get to comment on nearly all
I also look forward to my mudan japan vlogs even though he won't try Fuunji.
same, my friend and i always look forward to getting off work and watching todays new wacky crazy mudan video

Are you sure he isn't pregnant 😂
Now thats a bar
@@Flewfaraway Actually, not sure. Hence the "may not".
I can't believe you managed to keep this up for 9 months so far, I can barely manage writing a coherent comment every day

Thanks man! Definitely a helpful tip for expats / full-time students looking to move into Japan.
yo human doggo the crane games are calling your name you cant escape
Literally in the process of this now and as an America, it sucks...
Thanks man!~ planning my move over soon and I had no idea about the limit on foreign driving license. Something else to plan for.
7:04 Thank you for replying to my question in such a thoughtful manner ❤

Love your videos, Mudan. I lived in Japan for a year waaaay back in 1984. I wish I could have posted daily videos of my experience like you do.

His daily videos made me go back into my habit of checking my subscription tab. I haven't dont that in a decade
服装の話が出ましたが、Mudanさんの洋服のセンスは日本人好みだと思います。(私の旦那も白いシャツに黒いズボンの組み合わせをたまにします。笑)

Day ninety two of requesting you get permanent residency.
It looks like he will never get permanent residency, which is very sad
Its virtually impossible to get PR after only a year. 99% of the cases you have to have lived there for 10 years consecutively
Mudan and co already has permanent residency in our hearts. No need to apply. 🫶
Seconded.
Hi Mudan will you make a bloopers compilation of your vlogs
If it's an entertaining blooper then you can be sure that it's staying in the vlog haha
Oh wow, those data rates for the add-on is expensive, more than e-sims.
I mix my curry, but 1/4 of the rice and curry at a time.
I'm gonna miss this series
Day 2 asking Mudan to do another year of daily vlogs in Japan
Re: Curry’s

Go try camping Mudan ! There's tone of good spot, prices are fair and there always a lot to do in the towns around them.
Not mixing the curry with the rice is unhinged
I'm not Japanese but when I make curry I make a little bowl out of the rice already on my plate and put the curry in that
Mr Mudan your videos are great, is there a big Estonian society there? I watch your videos every day…. Thank you for the content 😊

I think no one noticed the normal clothes because, like he said, people only notice CGI if it's bad. And everyone sure noticed the Joey outfits......
32:20 I mix the curry as well, it's so much tastier that way
Jokes on you, I know that ananas are pineapple because most things are packaged in both Spanish and Portuguese here in Spain xD :P

curry, rice, mix, yes
Mixing or not mixing your curry and rice is purely personal preference. I've never heard of it being any sort of cultural faux pas in Japan.
