Some people do get a hostile response. But then again, perhaps if people didn't behave like they do towards the geese, then that wouldn't happen. It's like calling any person unfriendly because they become a bit hostile towards someone breaking into their home. We're the hostile ones.
Thank you for your quesiton, Eigil. My editing is fairly basic in terms of effects. I hardly do anything fancy. My main tools are the tone curve (often 2-3 instances), contrast equalizer, noise reduction (mostly just profiled denoise sometimes with a mask as in my last video), color zones to boost the saturation a bit, and cropping. What makes the biggest difference is finding good light more than editing, I think. BUT, I will say that probably a careful use of the tone curve is one of the most crucial aspects of editing for me.

I rarely do myself, but the noise reduction is done in DxO, and I find that quality hard to beat. Also extended retouch can become a bit crowded in Darktable, and in such rare cases I postpone the complicated part to Affinity Photo 2. Yes, the right light is everything.
Sorry, Eigil, I misread your question. Do I ever go beyond darktable? No, not for single Raw edits. I don't use DxO noise reduction though I have tried it and it works well. I do go beyond darktable when I do things like: panoramas and focus stacking for macro. And once or twice in my life I've used the gimp for removing dust from a product shot. However, in general, I just use darktable.
Well, I had to make a call. And in my birding experience, at least in the wild (not using feeders), blue jays are less easy to see than the birds on this list. Of course, that varies by area, so no top list will be perfect.
Like I said, varies by area. I can recall a couple of parks that I frequently visited where the Yellow-rumped Warbler was quite common but I almost never saw Blue Jays.
