We’re delighted to welcome HH BV Tripurari Swami as our guest on this week’s podcast.
An active member and leader within the global Hare Krishna Movement for over half-a-century, he is one of the most senior sannyasis in the Western world!
A disciple of A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Tripurari Maharaj was awarded the order of sannyasa in 1975. Since that time, he has inspired thousands of people around the world to adopt and follow the path of bhakti.
A renowned author, teacher and philosopher, his new book ‘Circle of Friends’ - due out next week - delves deep into spiritual truths about the nature of the divine, our relationship with Krishna and how Gaudiya Vaishnavism is a jewel that can easily and freely be shared with the world!

I worked with Tripurari Maharaj on RDTSP.
Maharaj, mostly I was sort of a sentinel with DhstaDhyumna yet I had a wonderful moment with you circa 1979.
I believe it was at the Harrisburg, PA book warehouse. We had just shared a feast with a circle of several core players. I was the cook and while you and others were enjoying prashadam, I took a few moments to go alone into the temple room.
It was the first time I bravely ventured to do Tratak meditation [which I now do tratak practically an hour everyday since ‘exiting’ Iskcon in 1980.
In a devotional Vedantic mood (never really feeling certain about qualifying as a Vaishnava, though you know all the RDTSP street and airport ninjas evangelists were 108% all out focus), I was gazing without blinking at one small shimmering sequence on Srimati Radhadani's sari positioned draped over her feet.
The few moments of tratak and meditation were heart opening and I was energized, blessed.
When I walked out of the temple room you, Tripurari Maharaj, were on your way to rinse your mouth. Yet just before we crossed paths, me on the way back to the kitchen, you acknowledged me with a wide smile. And then, very astonishingly for me, you then, in a flash it seemed, offered me Vaishnava pranams.
Guilty of sentimentality, I sit here with tears in my eyes remembering that striking unexpected smile and exchange and your humility and kindness.
I thought maybe I was going to hell having just practiced Tratak, a non-Iskcon approved method of meditation.
Grateful always for that energetic, merciful, wide smile exchange. I shake my head now in disbelief and amazement.

The subject was about first person subjective perspectives.
I have sort of avoided that first person subjective perspective, feeling not to get myself entangled with Ahamkara.
Coming from a distinguished Sannyasi as yourself, it feels as an encouragement and a green light to investigate the possible potential for Vaisnava bhav bhakti.
I present classes on Vedic Bodywork, Southeast Asian Physiotherapy, Assisted Asanas.
With an assembled group of brahmacaris, l'd be happy to come and train them as therapists.

Our Srila Prabhupada is the best friend, 100% available in his vani and vapu forms. In a letter dated Dec. 14, 1972, Srila Prabhupada wrote, “Next you ask if I am present in my picture and form? Yes. In form as well as in teachings.” And on Sept. 4, 1972, he wrote, “There is no difference between me and my picture”.
Absolutely true unless you introduce an another a Prabhupada of the rittik church scam😮
