- Just my thoughts on this bike. I left out the part about it being only a 4 speed. For those considering this bike and are concerned about this, don't be. The power band is awesome. A lot of thought went into the gearing ratio. I don't need 4th gear until past 50-55 mph, and it does a fine job all the way to 90 mph and beyond.

Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for this good review maybe your the only one who answers questions from anyone looking for a Vulcan.
Am going to pick 2000 Vulcan in the week end and this review helped me a lot
Thanks for the kind words. You're getting a much newer bike than this one. You got FI. 5 gears and you don't have to worry about that plastic oil gear. You'll love the bike!
One good thing about the Classic, Drifter etc. vs the standard VN1500 is that the "only a 4 speed" actually has the same top gear as the 5 speeds used later on, so the only real difference is having an extra gear in between.
Helo sir thank you for the good review!
Can I ask for your opinion is this motorcycle are good for the first bike or is too much?
I’m thinking of swapping a 2001 Yamaha vstar 650 with 9,700 on it for a 1997 1500 with 12,000 on her. Seems it was gently owned. Guys getting older wants cash or possibly something lighter and I’m ready for something bigger after a 3,500 mile solo ride from upper Ny to mid Florida and back plus various adventures in a month and a week trip. But funny enough. I’m now going to be 42 years old and I started riding just about 5 years ago on a small 50cc Chinese scooter, self learned a lil basic wrenching and put a 100cc big bore , then bought a 200cc scooter ( Japanese) and then my first bike was a 250 Honda rebel. Then my 650 vstar. I haven’t looked back since but glad to know it’s not just me. Lol. Appreciate the video brother. Helps me make a decision. Not sure yet but the 1500 sure is pretty. 🙏🏻. Rubber side down
Nice intro compilation!!
I put red LED on my handlebars for the oil light for better visibility.
Hello. I have a Vulcan 1500. What's the shift issue? Why would it grind trying going into 2nd? Would I have to preload the shifter? Or a bad shift fork? Thank you.
I couldn't begin to answer that. I posted this video 8 years ago and sold it not long after. It was my economical commuter when I needed it and bought a truck that needed some work. The sale of the bike was necessary to get the truck on the road. I don't even remember the 2nd gear issue to be honest 😂
@@ikillbugs ok. Thanks.😎👍
From what I understand the bike is made like that to find neutral easier… But if you shift at a lower RPM it goes right in otherwise if you shift quickly at a higher RPM it goes in pretty good… I have a 97 VN 1500 4 speed, and I do like the four-speed
Well, I have since sold this bike. I now have an 1100 Yamaha Vstar.
@@Chris_IGY6 … Yamaha V-Star is a great bike also
Greets from russia Great bike! And thx for review
За тебя! Thank you :)
How much did it cost you?
About $4500 if I remember right.
great video
Thank you :)
Bike needs an exaust system . No rumble to it.
My plastic oil gear failed at 45000.
Henry you got more miles out of yours than I got out of mine 37000
