- The most gentle and talented story board artist I ever knew, Bud Luckey was a legend. He animated and sang on some of the best Sesame street shorts that I grew up watching so sitting next to him while animating on TS2 when I was 22 yrs old was an honor. He didn't quite like animating with a computer and while animating the army men on Toy Story 1, he would get frustrated and say, "I can widdle these army men faster with a pocket knife than animate them with this computer."
0:40 HE DID MAKE IT!
LOVE that this almost ended up exactly like how it was in the film. Bud was a legend and he will still be missed.
0:40 We finally found out how Woody landed.
If Jessie can summon animals by yodelling, does that technically make her a Disney Princess?
Best comment yet!
That evil smile at the very end that was easilu cut!
we need the full workprint stat. after all the movie's 25th anniversary is coming up.
Yeah! We need the full workprint, ASAP!
Of course
Pretty rare, we get to hear Joan Cusack doing Jessie’s yodel before having it replaced with the late Mary Kay Bergman’s version.
Although there was some internal resistance to her casting we knew Joan hit it out of the park the first time we recorded her in Chicago. Holly Hunter was on our short list and could have worked well but we never recorded her. In any case, it was important to us to cast a female that was neither the typical sexy girlfriend type or the mom type. In early testing we loved an audio clip of Joan saying ‘Pellegrino’ from the movie ‘In and Out.’ Hmm I just remembered that in that movie she played a character named Emily…:)
This would've revealed The Prospector to be a villain too early.

“Yow! My biscuits are burning!”
Is that Hanna-Barbera music at the very beginning?
I think it is!
@@pawpetassociates Yeah, it's the Quick Draw McGraw theme!
Hey, Colin Brady. Do you have any more storyboard sequences from Toy Story 2?
QuickDraw McGraw theme music
Colin is there any more cg deleted scenes from the original rough cut Of Toy Story 2? We have so far as Yard Sale scene and Crossing The Road and zurg test and early Ultra Buzz found by Divinechild
I hope that one day, someone finds a storyboard of the original version of the climax where Jessie slips off the plane’s landing gear and Woody grabs her
I might have this on an old hard drive somewhere. I’ll look for it
Woody: Oh Prospector, you were so funny.
Prospector: Oh yes, very funny.
(Turns away)
*NOT...*
I really like this traditional art style
Yes, every Bud Luckey drawing could be on a T-shirt or coffee cup!
@@Colin_a_BradyBud Luckey drew this?
@@CrispyA113 yes we borrowed him from a bug’s life because we wanted the TV show to have this classic old-time feel.
@@Colin_a_Brady ah

Seeing Woody and Jessie laughing at the Prospector on the TV is so cute. It's like a pair of siblings joking about their 'father'.
I should have known the late Bud Luckey storyboarded the Woody's Roundup scene! It has an old-timey feel, and Bud finally got to pay off his original concept of Woody as a ventriloquist doll as he is based on the protagonist of a 1950s kids show where he is a puppet.
Look not bad
That's wonderful classic Woody's Roundup
0:41 he made it!
Toy Story 2 has an workprint backed in December 14, 1998 (which I made it up in the playlist, probably Internet Archive would added the workprint), which supposed to be a direct-to-video sequel but the minutes should be 60 minutes, because the workprint version, it changed to 75 minutes.
There’s all lot of deleted scenes are taken out during in the final film, the early version have some layout, storyboards, color script, concept art, pencil test and story sketch.
which the original draft backed in December 20, 1996, Bullseye could nearly talk like other toys but he’s a non-speaking horse, he’s a horse but more alike a dog.
Really? The Toy Story 2 workprint is on Internet Archive?!
Does anybody know where the temp music used in this video is from?
Cool upload!
Me too! I’m so looking forward for a full story reel of Toy Story 2! If there is one that is.
@@mystracopeland6110 The OP told me in an email that he did not have the full thing, just a few more clips.
Really? Who is this OP? You mean, Bud Luckey. Right?
@@mystracopeland6110 Colin Brady was the one who I emailed. Luckey isn't with us anymore, so I couldn't contact him.
Oh, right.
