Oh my god the $18 for sliced tomatoes and onion hurt me so bad; the steak seemed reasonable: a semi-decent sized portion of a semi-decent cut of steak being about $60 a person wasn’t insane BUT THE TOMATOES AND ONIONS 😭

@@YASTravelsEatsWell Even that is more justifiable than the onions and tomatoes to me; they actually had to cook the bacon and the spinach but they literally just took a knife to some tomatoes and onions and were like, “$20, please!” It’s absurd, the audacity.
Where I live you get a full meal with meat, salad, 5 sides, fresh bread and drink for less than that price of sliced tomato and onions. And if you happen to want extra tomato or onion they would probably just give it for free.

Nice. Just fyi, it is sometimes hard to read white only text without a black outline for contrast against the video background. Def agree about Peter Lugs, not even in my top 10 steak houses. Mine was very under seasoned. I want three things in a steak, strong beef flavor, salt, and fire. It was kind of lacking in all three even for prime dry aged beef. Also, I think butter kills the primal beef taste for some paradoxical reason. (Side quest: cheese also overwhelms beef flavor, like blue cheese on a steak or burger, hell no). I can tell by the way you eat and your descriptions that you have a good palette and are unabashedly honest. Love that!

Tina I hope you have the chance to try Minetta Tavern while you’re there! Imo the best steakhouse in NYC but it’s more French Bistro style. Cote de Beouf is amazing, it’s a giant dry aged Tomahawk served with two giant seared bone marrows. And they also have the best burger in town although it’s a bit pricey.

I went there too and also found it to be perfectly described as "underwhelming" . I thought "Cote" near Midtown was the best beef I've had in NY. I would suggest you try it

I still remember going a few times with my family to a restaurant called BondSt sushi in NYC. It was a very high end sushi I was very lucky to try but I later found you could get about as good of food at holes in the wall in NYC during a solo trip later in my life. I saw Laura Marling play in Williamsburg, that was life changing. I feel like you two should have dished out and tried Angie Marr’s restaurant. I’ve definitely never eaten there but with Max the Meat guy it seems like the perfect place to go try with all their incredible dry aging stuff they have going on, and romanesco stir fried in dry aged fat, & all the amazing stuff she does. I’m actually big into vegan food but when I see Angie Marr cooking steak I’m amazed and would probably take a bite if it were in front of me. Love NYC need to go back.
I now also really wanna try a place called Edith’s bagels to replace the void that was left in my soul by the closing of Carnegie Deli, and I would 10/10 go to Serendipity 3 for a single 30$ serving of the Frrrrrzen haute choco dessert, and maybe to buy the cocoa blend they sell. I recreate that dessert at home all the time it is very reminiscent of my grandfather’s favorite dessert which was a chocolate shake he made on his mounted Oster blender; no one could have ever gotten between that man and his chocolate shake…nobody
Like if that chrome blender went out that was an emergency trip to Sears. I personally now like my frozen chocolate to have some parts water and some parts plant based milk and then I use a single type of cocoa I usually pick out a decent one like Ghiardelli or something & use ice instead of ice cream. Oh it is so delicious and the yields are fantastic because it’s mostly ice. A batch of brownies definitely sets you back way more cocoa than a frozen choco

Well, that was an interesting 2 day vlog! I thought Hanon was super! I first did the "Peter Lugar Experience" in the '90's! They haven't changed much! The bacon, spinach, strip/t-bone steak for 2 & the dessert all looked great! I have found in the last thirty years, for me, that many other steak houses offer a more interesting, diverse & creative menu! I'll bet Peter Lugar's is still CASH only?
