For trying out different angles on faces, you could try using characters from movies since there would be plenty of shots of them in different views :D
this is actually a pretty good idea! And there are TONS of films out there so you can practice from the more "pretty, aesthetically pleasing" ones to people with face scarring (Film make up is usally pretty spot on for injuries and all that stuff) to fantasy creatures themselves, since there are a lot of fantasy films out there! I might steal this idea for myself nyeh :3
I love how you captured those faces in a realistic style! It's really cool that while you weren't practicing that style, you still improved in it just from having more drawing experience in general and being able to understand structure and forms.
The problem with the symmetrical ruler is that it's very convenient and fast, but a lot of times it ends up making the drawing look more stiff. Nothing is ever really 100% symmetrical in real life so yeah ^^' Also seeing the differences between the styles was very fun! :D
Different eye shapes often help a lot with faces looking different, Also even just slightly altering how the jaw and cheeks look could help a lot too ^^ like making the cheeks flatter or more rounder or the jaw more softer or sharper ectect
Same situation as you, my eyes are so different yet the shape nose and mouth are all the same 😂😭 Oh yea for the last guy the thrid face for him I was kinda laughing to myself because he seem like he be one of the guard for the royal fairies, but he be super chill and like you said a chad
17:25 me, an artist with an art style that looks like A Whisker Away, Rebekah's art, and The Owl House had a child, has very few varieties of noses: The "n", the "u", the ")", the sideways "u", and the "•" "How does one nose?"
11:28 I noticed when you switched to your style that you drew the chin more pointy as you usually do in your style, rather than keeping it flat like in the reference photo. I also noticed the same thing in your opening comparisons between different characters, and I think that's the biggest similarity between your characters, esp girls. I also tend to overdraw pointy chins since I love sharp stylization, but it's good to remember that there are rounder and more boxxy chin shapes too! ❤ Would love to see you continue this idea in another video and diversify your faces even further!
Im surprised you were able to capture the realism so well considering i haven't rlly seen you draw in that way Seeing your actually go through with your art studies and learn feom them inspires me tbh
Ngl , I may not draw in a very Manga style but rebekkas (sorry if spelt wrong) Videos are very helpful In learning , Honestly I recommend any young artist these videos
This was really cool! For me, since I've started drawing my characters in a more realistic way with references that look like them, they look more different and also look more like them in my more stylized style. I was so happy finding the perfect reference for one of my MCs, she has a really interesting lipshape that I could have never come up with
I love how you approach these challenges with you own methods; picking only a few heads and focusing on pulling out the features in your own style is so smart!!
I used to only draw in the more semi realistic way but like stylizing more. I'm gonna try doing this and see how it turns out. Anyway, I love seeing you draw everything. It's not boring at all, I love seeing these different style videos. The drawing of the girl is so cute.
please do more of these kind of vids, i love them!! one thing ive noticed with your faces though is that the placement of the features are all kind of similar which would also play more into the same face syndrome. you should be more weary of that when drawing different faces (i make the same mistake as well)
I would love to see you do a video where you figure out different facial shapes and features to give your different OC's (like for instance Doris could have a button nose and an angular face and Annabelle could have a sharp nose and a rounder face). It would be fun to see you experiment and figure out a way for your characters to look more distinct with their faces! :) Also this video was super fun to watch, it was very cool to see how the realistic faces translated into your styles!
RYAFSAH I LOVE SEEING YOU DRAW IN DIFFIRENT ARTSTYLES IT SUPRISED ME SO MUCH HOW AMAZING THOSE SKETCHES WERE BCS I NEVER GOT TO SEE YOU DRAW IN THOSE STYLES FHGBWOLSHF
They're all really good to be honest but I kinda wanna see what you did for the realistic style more it was beautiful and refreshing. Oh and the chibi Girl was super cute too ✨
The art are all amazing! I love how the first one came out, and the second one's hair and face was phenomenal. Also, important note, please get enough sleep, you shouldn't pusb yourself to make videos if you don't feel well, that wont do good to your body.
I love drawing different facial features and doing it in a genetic way (family members have the same face shape or eye shape, etc..) One way that I study different faces is by doing fanart of band members (this works great for drawing the same face in different views). I listen to a lot of different bands, but so far, I've only done Shinedown. It is pretty difficult to draw real people in my style, but still make it look like them. I love the video ❤
This is the type of challenge that really matters in testing an artist skill level and your skills are truly strong. 🎨🖌️I'm so proud of your work in this video. This inspired me to work on my faces as well. Thanks, gurl. ❤
Same exact situation like you Rebecca. I had it really bad with the same face syndrome. All my OC characters looked exactly like my main warrior OC. It's like slapping a costume on your one main character and your done. What made me realize I was doing this was the YT videos I was getting recommended everyday. Looking back, I was sensitive of changing my OC's looks. I'm glad I did because they all have their own facial expressions. So far great video Rebecca! Keep up the great work 👍🏻. Maybe next you should study dynamic and gesture poses.
I found this video really interesting as a fellow artist. Same face syndrome is something I struggle against as well, although drawing fantasy hybrids has definitely helped.
Please do more videos like this. It's so interesting. I love your chibi elf style. You could make a cute picrew out of it with the different features you learned to draw. I also want more videos about the world of pariah. I find concept art videos so interesting and I 'm excited to see this project come to fruition.
I love how you drew the old guy's face! I also struggle with drawing older people, but I have been really wanting to lately! I hope you have a great rest of your week! :)
i was literally just looking at that 100 faces pinterest board the other day to try and get myself out of an art rut !! the creative energy must be contagious 💃👯♂️
for different views of the same person you could always look up people from shows, since there's usually a lot of screenshots/photos of the characters in different views
This is random but I was reading this really cute and wholesome webtoon and immediately thought you might like it 😅 it’s called “A Spell for a Smith” and it’s a really cute romance between a dwarf guy and a outcast witch. It’s really wholesome I think you’d like it!
I'm EARLY FOR ONCE! YAY! Edit: Whoa, I have been struggling with same face syndrome for a while, and last night decided to break it. I love how you and I are on the same page lol
To me, the main things that can make faces more seperate looking without being too hard are these; eyes, nose, and jawline. Making eyes sharp or round, nose pointy or broad, and jawlines soft or straight. All these things can allow you to get pretty dynamic.
This was such a good video! All of the drawings came out great, and I thought each drawing reflected that particular style. The girl drawings were definitely my favorite. Would love to see another video on this!

You can try and change eyes and nose
ur pfp and username are so beautiful🥰

me too :(
thankfully eyes give a decent distinction since they’re a focal point
Samezies

The only facial differences is my style are nose shape and maybe eye shape and head length
