CHANNEV is a Neve inspired channel-strip with Mic Preamp, De-Esser, Line-Amp, 4 band equalizer, Compressor, Limiter and Tape Saturation!
This plugin looks and sounds just great and it's just incredible that you can get your hands on this one for as little FREE!
Features
- Mic preamp with 60dB Virtual Gain, PAD, and Phase Invert. Also, Pre-EQ (Low Shelf/High Shelf) and HPF/LPF.
- De-Esser with Bell and Soft options. It will help you to tame highs!
- 4 Band 81 Style Eq with variable frequency instead limited selectable frequencies. While Low and High bands have bell option, mid bands have Hi-Q option. Also, included Post-Filter same as Pre-Filter.
- Limiter and Compressor based on 2264 but now totally independent and each has its own external side-chain.
- Latest module is Tape Saturation. It will help you add tape saturation and glue overall signal.
- Fixed 2X light oversampling to keep CPU lower

This is a very solid Channel strip. The DeEsser does a decent job too which makes it a great "one and done" plugin for vocals. The only thing I would like to see is maybe the ability to rearrange the signal path (like the SSL Channel Strip 2). Being able to move the DeEsser to after the compressor is my thing. Given it's free though, who can really complain??

I tried it and I really like it. It simplifies my insert setup and sounds great. It crashes Reaper though after about 20 minutes or so and Reaper does not crash on its own. I will need to wait for some updates...

Not my favourite compressor for drums, but I can’t disagree that this plugin is AMAZING for some freeware. I think the next time I do a channel strip challenge with someone, this is gonna be my go-to just to have that Neve goodness, and maybe my old TR5 EQ81 can finally have a bit of rest
What I love about all the Analogue Obsession plug-ins though is that when you dial up gain, it doesn’t actually raise the level and screw up your mix. Honestly why can’t more plugins do this sometimes, or at least make it a togglable option, lol

Tried this one today. It's a very good plugin in terms of functionality and sound. It's like a good penknife, you know.
But I didn't like its limiter's behavior. It works like a fast compressor so it doesn't kill peaks. Maybe this is how the developer wanted this to work.
Also a soft clipper somewhere before limiter might be good for mastering purposes.
Tunca recently said that this plugin is mostly for individual tracks

@@bohnewav7175 I’m not asking anybody. If I wanted to ask for a soft clipper unit, I would write directly to Tunca. Moreover, any vst soft clipper can be used after this plugin, so it’s not a problem. Anyway, CHANNEV is a very very very good channel strip.

I wonder how it compares to some of the industry standard plugins (i.e. Waves E-Channel and CLA Mixhub)
Yeah, I use Waves E-Channel a lot so time will tell. Definitely will be trying CHANNEV across a whole mix very soon
CHANNEV eq took me to a totally different place. I like them together (CHANNEV into Waves E-Channel)
Being able to adjust the Q helps obviously, and E Channel has a low CPU hit. But the analog saturation out of this thing is fantastic
The problem is the gui size. I can’t resize it and it takes up more than my whole screen whenever I open up the plug-in window
Yeah it is a whopper! That's something I really like with Klanghelm plugins that you can change the size of the gui.

sadly the plugin is close to not working in reaper. Strange almost nothing is reacting when turning the knobs. So pretty useless for me.I have been using Analog Obs plugins for years.. but this one: not working here. v.1 to v 1.2 tested
That's a shame bud. If you let Tunca know on his Patreon, I'm sure he'll be working on it. A few people have reported problems with Reaper.

I like it, and I own it, but i already own the Scheps Omni Channel, and I wouldn't use this before my Scheps. It's a really nice plugin though. If it was modular like the Scheps it would be the absolute bomb!!!!!

@@realhomestudioofficial I use the Omni too but it has no actual console emulation per se and is more neutral, I can see using the Channev along with the Omni for maximum tone shaping

No AAX... :|
AAX messed up the plugin game. It's the reason I haven't upgraded from Pro Tools 9 yet, and I probably never will. Spent hundreds on RTAS and then they switched to AAX? Not good, I refuse to upgrade just because of that. I'd rather record in the version I have of Pro Tools, or record in my Reason. Avid are crooks
@@lightafluident.9950 hardly. This is the exception to the rule for plugins and if need be, I could simply grab a VST wrapper like from Blue Cat Audio.
