You seriously just saved my life making the displacement ones. Already have the decals are great. Now I don't need a flat surface it will automatically project onto it for me, this will help me so much you have no idea
Yeah, the displacement decals are a KILLER feature. IMHO way more important than everything else in this video. No other engine has that feature. No need to create separate materials, fiddle with nodes and projection types or even geometry with booles to "remove" a portion of a given surface. Adding stuff on top is easy, just place an object. But taking stuff away, making that one hole, crack, scratch etc. has always been so annoying.
Haha, this would have come very handy in a project a couple weeks ago and I had to come up with a workaround but I'm really happy to see this new feature implemented.
Ahhh, darn, sorry it wasn't around in time for that project. Glad to hear that it is the kind of thing you would find handy though, and at least it is there for all future projects :) Thanks! Tom
Thank you, so glad you like the scenes! Unfortunately due to time constraints, we usually have to use pre-made content (just like most archviz artists etc) and that makes it impossible to share the scenes due to licensing as we own rights to use the content in the videos and other artwork but not the rights to redistribute that content. We are looking into ways that we hope will make it possible to share some scenes in the future though, as we understand viewers would find that useful, so we will see what can be done (fingers crossed!). Thanks! Tom
Is there any way for the transparent part of the alpha to be displayed instead of black in the viewport, like the original C4D editor when it uses alpha?
That would be a question for the forums (forum.corona-renderer.com/ ) as neither the support nor development teams can monitor UA-cam comments. If you wouldn't mind posting the question over there, we'd appreciate it! Thanks! Tom
@@ChaosCorona Oh! Thank you for answer :) I have a AMD Ryzen 7 1700, but i looking for this processor, and i feel that i will be more productive with him. :) Regards :)
Many benefits - easily moved around without using UVs at all yes; can apply across multiple objects (hard to impossible with a UV approach); includes displacement; can be stacked on top of each other easily, and control which one is "on top" in the 3D viewport; can be Scattered (impossible any other way); can be easily animated, either by keyframing translate, scale or rotate as for any other object, or by having animated textures/materials in the Decal, or a combination of both of course :) Mostly it sounds like it doesn't do all that much, til you try it, then you get that brain-expanding moment as you realize what it will allow you to do :) We'll have more tutorials in the future exploring some specific things you can use them for, this one is just the basic starter. Thanks! Tom

Awesome, thanks for the tutorial
No problem, we are glad you enjoyed it. Jake
Your scenes are always so beautiful! Is it possible to provide scene files of the scenes you show in your youtube tutorials? That we can learn from?

Hi, awesome feature and video! I wonder for the scene? Specifically the background, looks really nice! It is a Corona Sky with and HDRI?
Hi, thanks. The background is just a HDRI. It is Small Hanger 1 from Poly Haven: polyhaven.com/a/small_hangar_01 Jake

Glad you think so!

Hello :) Great video :) Can you tell me what CPU was used for this video? Thank you from Spain :)

What the benefits of this, no need to open UVs?
