I like how the real bad ending is the one where you know for sure you survive. Because even though that’s a good ending for you, it’s a terrible ending for Chell.
1. You don't survive if you don't escape. We know from Portal 2 Co-Op that all those humans at the start of the game are killed by GLaDOS's tests within a week, so if the Portal Reloaded protagonist is there, that means they will be dead. I had that happen to me, again and again. I was able to "fix it", if you can call it that, by reloading the last level, redoing it and not dying at any point in the ending
Everyone saying staying in the tube is the "good" ending because you don't die. So I'm here to remind you that at the start of Portal 2 Wheatley mentions Chell is that final remaining survivor of all stasis'd test subjects (because as we learn from the comics Rat Man deviated all the facility power to Chell's stasis chamber at the end of Portal 1, effectively killing all other subjects). 4509 likely didnt survive the tube ending and died along the hundreds (thousands?) of other test subjects that were in stasis. With the escape ending, tho it is heavily implied 4509 wont make it through (since we see the portal gun turn off before the zombies appear) theres at least the small chance she might survive.
From what I got from the story, the protagonist is supposed to prevent Chell killing Glados in Portal 1 because that event lead to the downfall of the facility
@@ottobass9193 we're talking about half life zombies here. Pretty sure the other variants of the zombie will be painful enough to fight, let alone having an unusable portal gun

I'm still confused, does Portal Reloaded takes place before or after Portal 2 because I assume the game is like Portal Stories: Mel which took place in between Portal 1&2. Plus this game has time travel so I'm even more confused with the timelines.
The "Present" takes place before Portal and the "Future" takes place before Portal 2 after the invasion of the Combine in Half Life 2. This is because of the 20 year gap with the time portal. I hope this helps!
It is taking place during Portal, which would explain why the Announcer during the Escape-Ending mentions that the Power of the Facility has reached critical levels.
I failed the elevator escape 3 times because i thought i was supposed to keep funneling, i shot the portal too late the first time, thought i hit the wrong button the second time, and only the third time i did it correctly. I'm not trying to sound entitled, I completely get that these things are a lot of work, but I felt like this was kinda anti-climactic without a final boss. It's not that there needed to be one, it just felt like it was leading to one and then there never was in the escape ending. The entire thing is fun and a good difficulty, it just felt kinda empty.
The game forces you to place a time portal below the spikes for some reason, I was trying to funnel above them but it screwed me up. The ending of portal two also does this where it forces you to place the correct portal on the moon so that the ending works, but obviously it is barely noticeable. In this, it just forces you into a solution and confuses you. Also I agree, I understand it’s a ton of work but I feel like this mod needs a part two where your trying to escape through the facility rather than an heavily signposted path to an elevator that leads to the exit. Or at least one level that is trying to escape rather than doing a test
Fun fact: when you fall through the time portal to go to the future, you can fall again to go back to the past and survive, but as soon as you hit the floor where you can go to the elevator, you instantly die from nothing It’s kinda pointless but it’s hilarious
So this game is trying to stop portal 1 from happening ... and if u go to stasis u still won't get dispatched to save the facility because as u have seen after 20 years power already ran out .. so both endings are valid
When I played the game, I immediately recognized Harry's voice acting. Their impression of the original voice is not exactly the same and has a distinct sound that I recognized from their videos.
How is this prequel, when head crabs are a direct result of the events of black Mesa. And how would there be head crab zombies somehow before the resonance cascade?
Both results in death…. The ending where you go back to the vaults means you still die due to no more power, chell survives because rat man re routed back up power to chell’s relaxation vault

Really bad ending: Glitch the game and have the tractor beam disappear in the future, causing you to fall to your death over and over again Rip to about 30 mins of my time trying to figure out what I was doing wrong
So I assume that the "present" is before the events of Portal 1 and that the incident resulting in the "future" is Chell killing GLaDOS. Does that mean that the ending where you take the escape elevator results in the events of Portal 2, because I'm a little confused now.
@@Hypyramid but if the present is set before Portal 1 and the gap between the present and the future is 20 years wouldn't that mean that the future is set around the same time as Half Life 2?
"present" is before portal 1 and future is somewhere between portal 1 and portal 2, if you´ll go to the tube you will be woken up when Chell will be fighting GlaDOS. And the escape means that the resonance cascade has already begun before portal 2. Btw, the "future" state of the aperture laboratories looks similar to portal 2, so that means Chell wasn´t in sleep for 50000 years but cca 20 years. + multiplayer campaign of portal 2 is before portal 1
@@samuelstanicek5237 really? i think portal 2 coop happens after chell left the facility because wheatley said near the end of the game that he found 2 robots built for testing
So you're saved to kill Chell...? But Lasers already exist...and these funnels...and you come from the place the coop bots discovered...something doesn't add up. Either, the timeline doesn't make sense, or GLaDOS managed to get killed by another rouge Test-Subject... Seriously what's the timeline of this mod?
I’m not sure how this doesn’t make sense. Aperture uses you for testing the time gun and then they realise that in the future everything has degraded because GLaDOS is dead, so they want you to save her since by using the time gun you can actually change the future. Aldo GLaDOS didn’t just invent lasers and funnels as soon as she was woken up in portal 2, they would have been pre-existing aperture technology that Chell had never tested with. Aperture had the gels for decades but they never tested Chell with those either, who knows what stuff they could have lying around somewhere. Remember, Chell was supposed to be a normal test subject, GLaDOS would have probably been doing different test trials using the other tech with other people, such as the protagonist from this game, at the same time she was testing Chell.
@@maximusthedude8305 I played the games in and out, and yeah I still wrote that knowing that GLaDOS had these elements as well. But only with the Coop bots she had access to the Cave Johnson Test Subject Storage, where you come from. There's the old Logo on the back of your container. This simply doesn't make any sense and I doubt that the Coop team was active in Portal 1, GLaDOS mentions Chell. That's the main issue of the Portal Reloaded Timeline. The other subjects you mention probably came from these Hotel Rooms, but less...dead. You see the problem here? You can't come from the old Storage if there's no way to use it.
The sad thing is, even if the test subject survived, they would've died of old age, or gotten killed by headcrabs, making them be re-materealized again.
I want Half-Life 3 to be a crossover with Portal and Half-Life where Gordon and Chell work together to destroy the combine. That would be Meta as fuck.
aperture lied to us! he literally said in the first test chamber "dont worry, the enrichment center is designed to withstand centuries without proper maintenance."
I'll never understand why everyone is so upset about the ending and how we didn't get a boss fight, explain this to me. What would we even fight? Glados? She's de-activated and our whole goal in the game is to save her. The ending is reloaded makes sense, we're just a test subject who's goal is to save the enrichment facility
so our choices are either: A- be forever trapped in our stasis pod until we have to defeat the cause of the destruction (a.k.a, Chell) B- escape to the future but deal with an apocalypses or C- die and be forced to choose option A (well we've dealt with many tests and chambers without needing any food so I'll choose option B. lol)
pretty sure that all of these are just death, i mean hey, on the escape ending, you might starve to death while outrunning zombies, in the stasis ending, rattman disabled all other test subject's stasis "so they can all die, meanwhile chell can live", and the ending where the trap murders you? it's literally just you going to die anyway, as the announcer did say that "something" will put you back together and put you in stasis mode, having you die atleast 30 years later just so chell can live and destroy glados in portal 1.
3:06 If only Portal Reloaded was canon, this would proof that Chell might not have slept 50000 years, but rather something more like 30 something years

Eh. That escape ending isn’t as horrible as it may seem to me. This red haired version of chell gets through all of that to just die to three head crab zombies? No way.
Zombie are slow, you can avoid them easily
@@ottobass9193 we're talking about half life zombies here. Pretty sure the other variants of the zombie will be painful enough to fight, let alone having an unusable portal gun
This takes place after portal 2 though.
Changed the title to more exact, I didn't want my opinion of good and bad to be official and I saw a lot of comments saying bad ending is better than good ending, so now they're just Escape and Tube.
Its up to you if they're bad or good.

The escape ending basically
Took the utility part of the portal gun away, and added the Weapon stat to it.
@@apollosgrief4920 it takes place after portal 2 co-op, it says at the start of the game

Same, and I need a cool end music
Fun fact: when you fall through the time portal to go to the future, you can fall again to go back to the past and survive, but as soon as you hit the floor where you can go to the elevator, you instantly die from nothing
It’s kinda pointless but it’s hilarious
So this game is trying to stop portal 1 from happening ... and if u go to stasis u still won't get dispatched to save the facility because as u have seen after 20 years power already ran out .. so both endings are valid

How is this prequel, when head crabs are a direct result of the events of black Mesa. And how would there be head crab zombies somehow before the resonance cascade?
I like these endings. Usually escape is the good one, while here it's reversed. I like that, since it's refreshing.
Both results in death…. The ending where you go back to the vaults means you still die due to no more power, chell survives because rat man re routed back up power to chell’s relaxation vault

Edit:this is a theory i made because of the mysterious stories will reveal now in this new game
Glados was Carolin she imbodiments this behavior throughout the tests and getting her body back, yes she is friend but at first she thought you were enemy but she deletes Carolin and sends you to the surface, I still wonder what happened to chell? So I assume that the "present" is before the events of Portal 1 and that the incident resulting in the "future" is Chell killing GLaDOS. Does that mean that the ending where you take the escape elevator results in the events of Portal 2, because I'm a little confused now.
@@Hypyramid but if the present is set before Portal 1 and the gap between the present and the future is 20 years wouldn't that mean that the future is set around the same time as Half Life 2?
@@Hypyramid np
@@auzabraar in the ending of coop you found vault with humans and glados started teating humans again, that's only my theory
@@maximusthedude8305
I played the games in and out, and yeah I still wrote that knowing that GLaDOS had these elements as well.
The time line for all of the steam made games seem to be tied in my opinion.
The portal gun is broken and you are in the jungle with zombies.
It must not have been worth it that she managed to escape.

Should have an ending where you travel back into the past and end up at the very start of the first Portal all over again.
The sad thing is, even if the test subject survived, they would've died of old age, or gotten killed by headcrabs, making them be re-materealized again.
Escape ending confused me for a sec than I remembered it's in the same world as half life duh, durp moments 2021
it's kinda cool that portal reloaded has the half life 2 assets while portal 2 has only a bigger box from half life 2, 2:44
3:00 *miniature black hole explodes and consumes everything in a 400 mile radius*
I want Half-Life 3 to be a crossover with Portal and Half-Life where Gordon and Chell work together to destroy the combine. That would be Meta as fuck.
That sound so cool, but Portal 2 was based 1000s of years in the future, which means the timelines cant line up
aperture lied to us! he literally said in the first test chamber "dont worry, the enrichment center is designed to withstand centuries without proper maintenance."
I'm just impressed that you finished the game, it was way too hard for my goldfish brain
I had to use guides
My brain almost exploded playing portal reloaded i didnt finish it im tired.
Little did the announcer know, the facility will be destroyed, regardless if the subject escaped or not.
Imagine if there was chell as a final boss for the tube ending
I thought for sure it would be a time paradox where I was the one who ruined the facility.
So there is one ending. Thanks.
I'll never understand why everyone is so upset about the ending and how we didn't get a boss fight, explain this to me. What would we even fight? Glados? She's de-activated and our whole goal in the game is to save her. The ending is reloaded makes sense, we're just a test subject who's goal is to save the enrichment facility
so our choices are either:
A- be forever trapped in our stasis pod until we have to defeat the cause of the destruction (a.k.a, Chell)
B- escape to the future but deal with an apocalypses
or C- die and be forced to choose option A
(well we've dealt with many tests and chambers without needing any food so I'll choose option B. lol)
pretty sure that all of these are just death, i mean hey, on the escape ending, you might starve to death while outrunning zombies, in the stasis ending, rattman disabled all other test subject's stasis "so they can all die, meanwhile chell can live", and the ending where the trap murders you? it's literally just you going to die anyway, as the announcer did say that "something" will put you back together and put you in stasis mode, having you die atleast 30 years later just so chell can live and destroy glados in portal 1.
Would be cool if it's G-man that came in
