    How do you do it where it fills up and stays on and resets when power is taken off!!!

      It will turn on again when the power is turned on.

      @@technoelectronic what I mean is how do you make it fill up and stay on!!! Not light up and go across end to end like a snake!! Fill up sequentially and stay on !

      This is like a raindrop. In this IC, it will not be sequential but will conduct as it goes forward and then turn off later. See my channel's video with CD4017 IC for sequential on/off

      Yes you can add more LED, but if you want to add many more LEDs then you have to use transistor in output of IC

      Take the output from pin number 1 to 7 and 15 of IC 74HC595.
      Take eight NPN transistors BC547 and connect the base of each transistor to IC output pins 1 to 7 and 15.
      Use the collector pin of the transistor for the LED output and connect it to the LED.
      Connect the emitter pin of the transistor to the negative (ground) track.
