I operated 3 different 118's in the oilfield back from 1977 to 1988 ish. Outstanding machines, with proper maintenance. We moved crane so much, me and my rigger could, fully rigged with 70 ft. Boom and tracks out, rig it down and have it on lowboy in twenty minutes. About forty five to rig up. Miss real friction rigs. Have a fantastic day!
That’s always a challenge to get the right length off cable sticking out on the dead end of the cable on the drum . I felt your frustration I always feel good having a new cable , I thought I would suggest if you find your cable twisting you might want to switch to a no rotating cable if your running a two part line it will not twist but it is quite a bit more expensive. But enjoyed the video and keep that old iron running!😀🇨🇦👍👎👇👆👈👉🪝🏗
wow dangerous trying to install wedge,,try 5' cable thur socket make 180 turn place thur socket now pull live end to tighen then place wedge, pull tight then slap cable few times to set wedge.×

Wow that's fast. Wish I could have worked with you. The controls look like thay gave your elbow a rest area to put them on.
@@rp1645 yeah, for its era, well designed.
118 is my favorite. Just a fanatic, not an operater. Love to build scale models of crawler cranes. 118 I built many times over from the age of 12.

Well, we haven't heard from y'all lately. Picked any thing significant up with 118?
Perfect example of
PULL UR CABLES INTO THE SOCKETS FIRST WITHOUT THE WEDGE, PUSH BACK OUT INSERT WEDGE, TAKES THE SPRING OUT OF THE CABLE
These fellas not working safe at all but good job anyway
