I can't believe people learn these small micro movements involved in these super tech tricks so perfectly that they can do it in a run. I understand maybe landing here and there but it's just such a small margin for error, they've got this shit subconsciously timed down to the millisecond. It is proof that the human brain is very powerful.
Especially the Japanese brain lol.

It's not genetic. It's economic. Japan is the most economically equal society in the G20 richest nations, placing 3rd richest in the world. More equality means less precarity, homelessness, starvation, fucked up shit etc; and better education, health, food, housing, etc etc. All that means that the kids who go for it in Japanese skating have a massive advantage in terms of high functioning stuff. Maybe that's why Japanese skaters don't seem to have the mental health problems required to do some of the insane, literally deathwish shit the Brazilian's and American's do. The Japanese go tech instead.
It's cultural, which makes their thinking very different from American kids

it's close, but if you watch the full runs separately, it's hard to judge. rabelo had more flow, used more of the park and put in more tricks.

I don't care about competitions, but the question mark is: how do you come 1st if you fall and the other dude doesn't -- when everybody in the park is throwing boards in the air and they place 2nd? Maybe, I don't know anything at all.
just like the x games, there is a a bias against asian skaters at american contests even when their run is clearly better.

Both Skaters were people of colour from outside the USA. I actually preferred Lucas Rabelo's run it more flow and variety, but he fell. Maybe the judges don't take the rules too seriously and just go with what they feel. But the crowd were so hyped for Ikeda Daisuke, so it's a tough one. You can only have one winner!
Daisuke's run was probably the best run I have ever seen in a contest or in a park all in all :D amazing!!

Not really, they were both switch and regular, different tricks and he flipped into grinds. Doesn't make him a one trick pony just because he can do better flip tricks than everyone else.
